I wanted to share my experience with the HomeBoost pump I bought from Plumbworld, which ended up being quite a hassle.

I was excited to get this pump installed after watching some YouTube videos that made it seem straightforward. I had my plumber come over, and we followed the instructions carefully. But to our surprise, the pump just wouldn’t work! It seemed like it was trying to start but then failed, with a blinking red light appearing after a brief green glow.

Feeling frustrated, I contacted Salamander Pumps for help. They asked for photos of the installation, which we sent over. They mentioned that if the pump was installed horizontally, it needed proper ventilation. My plumber went back and made the necessary adjustments, and we sent more photos. Eventually, Salamander agreed to send a new pump since it was still under warranty.

This back-and-forth took about six hours, and I was left feeling pretty upset. When the new pump finally arrived via DPD, my plumber came back to install it. This time, he made no changes to the pipework, and thankfully, the pump worked perfectly right away!

In the end, it turned out that the original pump was faulty, which was disappointing. I also ended up spending more on plumbing costs than I had anticipated, which added to my frustration. While I appreciate Salamander’s support in replacing the pump, the whole experience was a bit of a headache.

Susan Haley gave great great service. She was easy to talk to understanding my problem and went beyond my expectation to help solve my problem. She was so determined to help after numerous E Mails and telephone conversations. I cannot thank her enough she is a great asset to Salamander company,

I have been using salamander pumps for more than 23 years. And never had any problems with. I contacted Salamander Pumps recently regarding my 6 months old pump as we were having had a problem with. The person I was in touch with, Vikkie, was extremely helpful, very nice and knowledgeable in relation to our issue. Having requested some photos of the pump and installation, Vikkie has responded so quickly and has resolved my situation promptly. We were able to get a replacement pump which we are waiting to be delivered.

Excellent customer service.
We contacted salamander pumps on the 10/02/26 as we had an issue with a replacement pump we had purchased and had fitted by a plumber (the previous pump we had had for 12 years ) unfortunately the new pump had stopped working after a short time . We spoke to Carolyn Mulligan who was most helpful & knowledgeable and we sent her pictures of the pump & fittings and we have had a new pump sent to us and we are awaiting a very busy plumber to come & fit it . Had a problem with the first pump, but Caroline at Salamander customer service was brilliant. Sorted it out and a new pump arrived two days later. It has definitely increased the flow to all bathrooms. Saved £6k on having a new cold water feed put in 50m up a driveway. Pump is fairly loud, but does the job. Really good quality and excellent service from people who care about their customers. Highly recommend 👍🏽

The company answered questions and sent details of how problems could be solved and the best equipment for the job.

Caroline from Salamander Pumps technical line was really helpful in getting a fault fixed with our pump. Highly recommend this company as their customer service is second to none.

The customer service advisors Vikkie and Susan were very helpful, knowledgeable, polite and friendly.
Initially, Vikkie guided me through what I needed to do in order for her to determine what type of pump I needed she was very patient with me as I’m not very tech savvy and struggled to send photos of my current installations. We got there in the end. The new pump came, well packaged. I returned the old one for a refund. I spoke to Susan a couple of times, she asked how I was getting on with the new pump and organised my refund. I would have no hesitation to recommend Salamander again. Salamander you have got some gems in your workforce. Thank you.

I had some issues with a couple of the pumps supplied by salamander!!
It turned out the ones I was using were not quite right for the job
When contacting them they were very supportive and eager to resolve the issue. They helped me by sending an engineer to assess the situation and he advised me on a slight modification I needed to do
After that and instructing me on what needed to be done everything now is all ok

Bought a Salamander pump last October & it's been working perfectly for 3 months, so clearly it was installed correctly. Last week it stopped providing power to the shower & was making a horrendous noise. The only way to stop it was to switch it off at the mains. Called out the plumber who fitted it & it worked correctly albeit with the noisy pump. Called Salamander who wanted £136.80 to send out an engineer!! It's new & under warranty, so WHY do I have to pay?? Emails don't give any names of people or depts to take it up with, even tho I've requested this info. Clearly customer service doesn't exist with this firm. I paid £500 for this pump & this is the shoddy way a customer is treated.

8 month old ct50x shower pump stops working,customer service absolute joke,warranty might aswell have it written on asheet of toilet paper for what its worth
WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND LOOKING ELSE WHERE AND USING ALTERNATIVE SUPPLIER.

I originally installed the wrong Salamander pump about a year ago and it stopped working. I contacted Salamander Pumps for technical advice. They carried out a very thorough review of my setup and recommended a different pump. They exchanged my existing pump with the correct type for a very reasonable price. Excellent technical support and service.

Following the failure of our original Salamander pump which we happily replaced without complaint and due to the pipework being already in place, the easiest solution was to replace the pump which we did.
After just 18 months use, the pump ceased to function.
Following inspections from 2 bonafide plumbers who both agreed that the installations were carried out correctly, they both suggested to claim a replacement pump under the manufacturer's 5 year warranty, this we attempted to do!
Unfortunately, the manufacturer's are refusing any responsibility on the grounds of it not been installed as to their specific instructions.
We did point out that the original Salamander pump must have been installed professionally for it to have lasted so long and therefore must have been fitted correctly.
The last plumber that inspected it felt that the pump itself is faulty however Salamander refused to accept this as a genuine claim.
Following this experience, we strongly feel that we owe it to the general public as well as the plumbing trade to warn potential buyers of the highly potential pitfalls that they would most likely encounter, should they decide on a Salamander pump.
In addition to our complaint, we must urge readers to also refer to a previous review from January 19th from SunShine Gas Services Ltd who also have had very similar experiences and being actual tradesmen, highlight Salamander pumps in a much more critical light.
We will also be taking our complaint to the relevant Ombudsmen, as well as Trading standards.

I give Susan a 5star rating but can only give 4 star overall as other representatives did not phone back when promised.

Unfortunately our pump developed a fault. The staff at Salamander Pumps were extremely helpful and friendly. All sorted with no problems great service a rarity in this day and age.

Through no fault of anyones, my new Salamander pump failed fairly shortly after being installed (combination of not having sufficient flow and using existing pipework from the old Salamander pump it was was replacing, and my plumber/builders turning the water off and on, without turning the pump off first, meaning air got into the system! I therefore made a claim under warranty, and despite the fact that the pump had not been installed correctly Salamander still honoured the warranty. Staff I spoke to were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the whole experience left me with an excellent impression of their committment to their customers and the products. In the end I was able to pay to upgrade from the original pump, so now I have peace of mind that the pump I have will do the job admirably and last as long - if not longer - than the last one...namely 15+ years!

I dealt with Liz -absolutely excellent I would give six stars if I could. I had lost power to my shower. After a brief search under a pile of towels in the bottom of the airing cupboard I found a pump! This was clearly going to be the problem and clearly my fault! Took it out and went to get another one, nothing is fixable these days right? Couldn’t get a new one straight away so I looked at the old one. Instead of a Chinese POS snapped together and secured with a couple of now rusty pozi screws I was clearly looking at ‘a nice bit of kit’ held together with six chunky stainless bolts. Took it apart identified the problem and phoned Salamander – if you don’t ask you don’t get. Phone was answered straight away – no telephone bingo. Liz clearly has a thorough working knowledge of pumps and could discern the part I needed from my description. Liz sent me a new part even though it was long out of warrant and I was honest about smothering the pump with towels. Part arrived next day before lunch. Fantastic service I would definitely recommend Salamander.

I dealt with Angela and she was superb, answering all the questions I had and advising on my best course of action. Salamander pumps are the best and I'd had a positive head one powering my showers for 20 years until it packed up, so I replaced it with the latest compatible new one from Salamander. Unfortunately it did not work the way the old one had, apparently due to upgrades in technology affecting the way the new pump worked, so when I rang I was advised that a negative/universal head pump was the answer. Salamander took back the positive head pump, under warranty, and I paid the difference in price between the cost of the two pumps and the new universal pump was received within a couple of days. To return the non compatible pump, I put it in the box and rang Salamander, who then arranged for it to be picked up. First rate advice and service. Thank you Angela and Salamander and here's to another 20 years service for this newly fitted shower pump.
