Inverkeithing Scotmid. Over priced and robbing people who live in economically deprived areas. Scotmid relies on people who can’t drive the 15 mins to Tesco and Asda. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask... See more

The service is shocking! Workers are lazy! Food is extortionate

The service is shocking, either you are stuck in huge ques because only one member of staff is on the tills while the other lot hide away in kitchen or on shop floor talking amongst eachother. The poor person on the till is just left to do most the work. Why have so many staff members working if they are doing half a job each. The service is also shocking they don't even thank you! Awful customer service!! Stop hiring young lazy People with attitudes. The selection of food is limited and double the price of anywhere else. The only reason people shop there because it's the closest shop and because they have been given no other option for a local. DO NOT SHOP HERE!! SMALL LOCAL STORES ARE MUCH BETTER AND ACTUALLY BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY! COOP IS JUST A GREEDY CORPORATION SELLING GARBAGE TO PEOPLE. AN EXAMPLE IS THE FOCHABERS STORE NO ONE WANTED IT AND VOTED AGAINST IT BUT A HAND OUT TO THE GOVERNMENT GOES A LONG WAY!!

Quality of meat vegetables

do Scotmid only stock poor Quality meats, I.e. no filet steaks, or T-Bone steaks, no ribeye no quality lamb, pork, beef roasts, no celery for soup. I think the purchasing manager needs to review his food stocks and purchasing, for me it's always the same day after day.

Having already spoken to a manager…

Having already spoken to a manager about the lax staff not wearing masks or using them as chin warmers, it now seems even more are refusing to wear masks. It is simply unacceptable that the staff at the Tannochside store have such disregard for the other staff and customers. I certainly do not feel safe going into this store. The manager also has such disdain for the legality of wearing masks, saying he isn't responsible for customers not wearing masks, but surely he is for his staff? Disgusted at the attitude in this store.

It’s not usually somewhere I shop but I stopped off in the passing to Scotmid Crookston, Glasgow with my father.

I was surprised with the range of stock on sale and the reasonably priced items.

The store was very safe adhering to COVID-19 guidelines. The store came across very clean and all staff had face masked on with glass screens in place.

The manager Andy who was operating the hot food counter was very friendly and welcoming, informing me of the new sale items and special offers available.

He also informed me that the store would soon be doing Panini’s to complement the soups on offer.

5 starts! Will start using more often.

Scotmid Leven Street

Thank you Scotmid. You've managed to make me feel at home... back in communist Poland, by consistently providing the most atrocious customer service. Like in Polish grocers' in the olden times when shopping assistants were the kings and queens in their little fiefdoms.
I keep using the shop out of convenience, living a mere 5-minute walk away. And the range of products is not bad either. But, with notable exceptions, the service is awful.
I'll give you several examples, all from the same place.
1/ I live in a flat-share that uses electricity meters operated by coins. During the worst of the pandemic, the landlady would provide us with the change we needed. Now that it's eased up I use the post office and shops to get the necessary change. That is in all the shops - when I ask nicely - apart from the Scotmid. I'd say it's fifty-fifty there, depending on whom you ask. I managed to get some change last Friday, but today was refused.
2/ When, during the bad period of Coronavirus, shops were introducing more and more safety measures, some of them were one-directional 'traffic' of customers, another you couldn't enter the shop with your spouse, friends or family. Fair enough. On the first day of the one-way 'traffic' at this shop, I entered just to get a bottle of mineral water. It was right by the entrance, with the checkout just next to it as well. I grabbed the bottle - in an almost empty store! - and went straight to the checkout. I was stopped by the cashier, informed it was one-way traffic and made to walk around a shopping isle - let me repeat, in an almost empty shop - to return to the same place and pay for the goods. That felt - I know it shouldn't but it did - really humiliating.
3/ Another time I entered the shop to the sounds of commotion. It turned out the shop's security officer was noisily berating a young couple who both tried to enter the shop under the false pretence of being unfamiliar to each other. I had a bit of an Orwellian moment and left feeling a bitter taste in my mouth.
4/Sometime before that, I entered the shop with my brother-in-law and his 17-year-old daughter. Let me stress here it was the middle of the day and we were perfectly behaved and sober. We wanted to get some beer and a bottle of wine. A shop assistant stopped us at the automatic checkout claiming he believed we were trying to supply alcohol to a minor. I said I'd been a regular at the shop for years, there was evidence they were father and daughter (they are German, had their passports on them), this was a batch of moonshine purely for our own delectation. To no avail. The shop manager said he was sorry but he couldn't undermine his employee. As above, this was loud, with lots of witnesses around, and so quite humiliating to experience.
5/ A shop assistant who had known me a bit better knew I was doing studies at Napier. She said this entitled me to a 10% discount on proof of my studies. I had my Napier student card, not the NUS one, so I actually double-checked with the store manager present at the time. She confirmed I was okay to get the discount. After using it for about o month a cashier stopped me at the checkout saying I was illegitimately claiming a student discount I was not entitled to. Again, in front of other people in a queue. I tried to explain, said I'd even had a hunch I should have procured the NUS card that I was entitled to (but too lazy to claim), but had double-checked and was said ... yada yada yada. Anyway, I was refused the discount, which was okay if I was not entitled to it, but - yes, again - it felt quite humiliating.
I'll stop at this, you get the picture. If you believe the staff were acting appropriately and courteously, whatever rocks your boat, feed your inner masochist and do your messages at the shop. I shop there out of laziness and kind of accept the consequences but others beware. Shopping at this place is Russian roulette, you never know what you're gonna get. And, be forewarned, not in a Forrest-Gump, box-of-chocolates kind of way.

Today I visited prestonpans scotmid

Today I visited prestonpans scotmid, bottom side of prestonpans, Owen served me & I asked if there were any chicken pakoras as there were none on the shelf, he went through to warehouse & checked, unfortunately they had not had a delivery, he then offered to phone other stores in the area, I was amazed at his excellent customer service, came back & told me Redburn Rd had them & they did, excellent employee, couldn't have done more to help, well done Owen, you are just the best.

Zero training and zero customer service

Took a parcel to be posted with DHL containing a £600 smartphone to be returned under Google RMA to the Scotmid Balloch store and instead of telling me they don't accept DHL parcels they took it regardless and put it in the wrong bag (severe lack of training and care at play) so the parcel has now been lost and Scotmid are saying it is my fault for taking it there it is my understanding that a shop employs staff to pass information on what is and is not accepted to the customer not the other way around, Scotmid offered a £20 voucher for a device costing £600 that their staff lost due to substandard training avoid this shop it's an absolute disgrace and customer service is none existent.

Popped into wheatridge store for some lunch for work and was told in a very rude manner by the lady on the till I needed to walk all the way round the shop in order to get to the till ( lady had blonde hair but it looked a bit pink and she had glasses). Decided to use self service till instead and when the machine didn’t give change the same lady ignored the buzzer and eventually someone helped me out. Obviously customer service training isn’t given to staff in this shop and what staff were in looked fed up and unmotivated. First time shopping in here but definitely the last. Management in the store obviously couldn’t care less how their staff treat customers.

Bad service and staff

Bad service. You’re not even allowed to open the refrigerator for at least 2 seconds, you should have enough money to pay for energy. Once I was with quite a lot of people and we went to Scotmid and guess what.. they didn’t let us in.”ONE AT A TIME!”. The shops just got bad staff and service I rate it 1 star

Awful

Awful. The staff in both Stanhope and St John’s Chapel branches couldn’t have worse customer service skills. The sales items do not go through as sales items at the tills. One staff member tried to grab me today for going the wrong way down the one way system!! Jesus. Never set foot in these places.....they’re stuck in a time warp. Head office please read these reviews!!!!!

I was visiting the Edinburgh-haymarket…

I was visiting the Edinburgh-haymarket store on the 16th may. Before entering the store, a member of staff was "leggin oot" the store in persuit of a shoplifter. He then halted, confronted and dealt with the situation in a profetional manner. He then also apologised to me?! I was about to walk in the store in worong direction and was politely informed that there was currently a one way system in place for the benefit of public heath. Whilst not being my server at the till, he still maintained to be VERY polite and assured that while running at a loss, the company would do everything that they could to provide the best service possible. THIS GUY HAS TO BE FOUND AND COMMENDED. I will tip my hat to all key workers.
