My review eludes to the Marchmount store in Edinburgh ( 126.) First of all the sales options of goods have always been limited and rank its like a 80s cornor shop that has been time warped into the modern age from well over 30 years ago but worse since its charging modern prices but at the high end off the market for a limited and depressing range . The Napaliese boy on duty was rude he should not be tasked with handling the cues to get in , this global pandemic or maybe he only talks rudely to non white customers . Also one of the girls called me a p;';'y for no good reason at all- still working.
The store manager tried to stop his co-worker accepting payment in coins however this was days before the lock down and my money was cleanly bagged up nor had I been coughing and sneezing . He had no legal right to decline it . That guy is still the manager of the store , one of the most miserable looking fellows you could have the misfortune to meet on a good day .
Surely now that the world has changed you would think major retailers would employ caring and friendly staff to handle all customer facing duties . Some staff are friendly and helpful but they are few and far between and don't appear to get rewarded since you seldom see these friendly faces on a regular basis.
However this store seems to turn all aspects of living into a miserable drudge they have very limited stock almost everything they offer is well over priced .

Went to top up my electricity at the Bathgate branch. Usually I top up £50 but as Contactless I was ready to top up £45 (the new temp limit due to Coronavirus).
But was then advised they had not updated their systems yet and I could still only top up £30.
There is a pandemic and shops like this are sitting on their hands.

Just visited Scotmid store in Drumry / Clydebank for fist time as moved to the area the staff 2 older woman serving their customer service skills were terrible I spoke smiled at both of them and was completely ignored other than looking at me as if I was an alien I definitely won’t visit the store again a smile and a polite reply to customers cost nothing

Way OVERPRICED and the store clerks hygiene problems - I dont think they bathe on a regular basis when you can smell their body odor from 5 meters away. There is a guy at the Easter Road location in Edinburgh with bright red hair (the only one) that consistently wreaks of body odor so pungent it takes your breath away, meanwhile the fresh baked goods display where food is unwrapped, just sits out and they touch it with their bare hands. Im not a hygiene freak, but when your smell can make someone wretch at 5 meters, you probably dont bathe and certainly dont wash your hands. I have sent several emails of complaints and NOT A SINGLE response or change in his smell. Last nights trip was the last straw. Lidl and Iceland are next door and a short distance further. I refuse to go back to Scot Mid

Why have two or three tills and have one member of staff working them.your staff Are try hard but you are asking them to do everything all at once ie serve hot rolls serve at tills and also the post office duties as well . They have to wait till there’s a big queue then call for help as someone wants to post a parcel while the next guys a builder wanting 4 rolls on haggis and a coffee. Please give your staff a chance and a wage rise while your at it

My 6 year old grandson is staying with me this weekend and his dad bought 2 yop drinks from your shop Bieldside in Aberdeen for him and stopped in past with them. To my horror 1 is dated 7Nov and 1 dated 15 Nov. Just as well I noticed before giving them to my grandson. This is shocking. Does nobody in you store check the dates. My son did not take a receipt so I have no proof they were bought there.

Called into Nairn store for box of matches girl tried to ID me despite fact matches are not age restricted i certainly will not step foot in store again

Called at local store today yet again no bread which is a regular occurrence and two trainee staff serving with out supervision. This a super market which has just been open a number of months the service is dire you should get your act together I for one will not be going back

I will never be setting foot in another shop again 2 weeks ago in the gorgie store I was belittled by a staff member for having my assistance dog with me today 31st july I went in there and she remembered me and talk about judgemental even when manager okayed it she wouldnt let it drop then thought she would belittle even more by saying well I'll have to bring my dogs shopping how they can treat any customer like that I'll never know terrible

Scotmid Uddingston Renovation Nightmare.....well I live above the store and cannot believe the utter disrespect for the residents. Working practically 24 hours a day, drilling and banging constantly at 7am and 1am. No concern for my well being or my neighbour's. When do I get to sleep? This has been going on for 8 bloody weeks and still a couple more to go!!!! Shocking attitude and lack of respect. Scotmid I have emailed you twice in the past 24 hours with no reply. Please respond. I will be contacting the local council regarding the unreasonable noise!!!!!

was sold fake tobacco in Dundee shop contacted customer service [that title customer service is a joke] anyway for advice was told no I was not from advisor end of story because I had opened tobacco I mean how can you tell its fake till you open it and taste common sense seems to desert this advisor I have since forwarded sample to tobacco maker and handed the rest of tobacco pouch to local trading standards keeping my receipt of purchase needless to say this will take time but to insist it was not fake without seeing or tasting it hardly inspires me that even if the bodies mentioned find in my favour this person will not budge I have asked for a contact above customer service but that request has been ignored.

The shop is always empty, never any juice and never any chocolate disgusting.

Bought tortellini that turned out to be mouldy (despite it being over a month prior to ‘best before’ date). Everything is ludicrously expensive. Completely unacceptable. Avoid.

I stopped using my local store for much the same reasons I'm reading in other posts, it became a depressing space to be in, certainly over priced , I couldn't help notice how fresh food is left to turn before its reduced, i can't understand why thats done and sold under the banner of " reduced ". who buys rotten strawberries ??? mayble it's a sales technique to sell more toilet rolls :)))))

Could be so much more but it seems happy to roll over while foreign competitors such Aldi , Salisburys and Tesco race ahead with the market share. The Scotmid down on Nicholson street is good but the one down Marchmont is pretentious and the staff have evidently been poorly trained in customer service etiquette (especially the rude woman with a north western English accent -Laura . The buck should stop with the manager for not investing enough time and thought to get professional staff on the till like in Tesco's and Sainsbury's maybe in 20 years Scotmid will catch up with customer service ) I have been served surely (some might even find it rude manner ) by said staff member and others who are too busy gossiping amongst themselves mid transaction to be of help on occasion. Packing skills is something most have not been trained on , basic hygiene is lacking too was served by a guy with dripping wet hands someone should have trained him on hygiene.
If you want friendly staff don't go to this one if you want a good bakery and traditional Scottish fare do but it would be even better if they could install self service check outs.
The arrogant woman who works in customer complaints is really appalling how did they recruit someone like that 000 professionalism poor attitude , unlike other reviewers I'm not bothered that they do a lot of traditionally British food and don't have much foreign stuff in fact I applaud them for that as that's a key incentive to go there and get something different and Nostalgic , but they should have better customer service in this day and age.

I went into the scotmid at ratho in Edinburgh, I went to use the self checkout and I scanned my stuff and put my money in. Then it came up like a windows computer screen, I waited for a member of staff and then he said... you can't use that.. to which I replied that I had and it hadnt given me all my change. He went to get his manager and she proper had a massive go at me and it was in front of all my colleagues. She belittled me, and spoke to me like I was an absolute imbecile and kept arguing with me about how I shouldn't have used it. She was even staring me out...? I just wanted a sandwich!! This went on for ages, I've never been so humiliated in my life... I'm 40 years old and she spoke to me like I was stupid. It looked fully functioning to me and there was no signs or anything up. How was I supposed to know?? A workman who was in made a comment and she changed her tune slightly and gave me my change... you would have thought I blew up the shop the way she reacted. Will never be back and I spend money in there every single day... lunch and costas... scones, donuts for the team, I buy bits and bobs for my dinner. At least I will save a fortune i

Went into Scotmid on Leith Walk and was bought a few items for £11. I was assured the bread was fresh but when I got home I discover it was tasteless and stale. I was shocked that I was charged for two bags when I only has one. Guy at the till did not even make eye contact. They are the most expensive in Scotland. Shocking!!

This is one of the oldest supermarkets around. Once called co operative or co op! This shop has a long way to go in terms of catching up with the rest of the worlds supermarkets. There are hardly any bargains ( lets face it, thats why we go to supermarkets ) this shop seems to have decided not to compete for customers at all. Their goods are even over priced, and Scotmid must surely rely on their old customers from the days of the co op or they would have closed down by now. Scotmid also sell more in the line of traditional foods, Why? because they dont realise that we are a multicultural society and in the modern age! Oh and the security is a bit harsh, feel like a criminal, hardly welcoming now is it? Im not giving you my money thanks

This is the worst supermarket out there.
They overcharge for virtually every item while the staff are ignorant and impolite.

I would not recommend spending any hard earned cash at these stores.
