The staff were all helpful, friendly and welcoming. The location was well kept, plenty of space for the scouts to run around, but pitches were well located to give privacy from other groups. Scout... See more

Excellent experience at Broadstone…
Excellent experience at Broadstone Warren. Organising the trip was made much easier due to flexibilty and options offered which made payments from parents so easy. Staff were so helpful in booking process and fantatastic on site too. Facilities were great (we stayed in tent village) and catering was spot on. Nothing too much trouble and the students had a great time with the activities. Will definitely return!
Great site with a friendly team
Great site with a friendly team and clear recent investment in facilities to make them even better! Our group stayed in the newly improved Tented Village and absolutely loved it, the staff were quick to help us with any small issues we faced and the international volunteers brought energy and enthusiasm whenever we interacted with them. Thanks a lot Team Youlbury, keep yourselves safe in the continued hot weather and we look forward to visiting again soon!😁

This site is incredibly well run and the equipment for our self-led activity was in excellent condition.
We had a wonderful visit to Youlbury
We had a wonderful visit to Youlbury. We were greeted by happy and welcoming staff in reception, who helped with all our questions. The facilities were clean and in good working order. Our camping pitch was well maintained and perfect for what we were using it for.
Our Beavers had a brilliant time camping - for most it was the first time away from home overnight. But thanks to the staff who helped me booked, we managed to secure a pitch close to the toilet block which meant there was less anxiety to go to the loo at night.
Booking our stay got a little bit complicated - but the staff I spoke with on the phone couldn’t be more helpful or flexible.
As a group local to Youlbury, we visit often. But this visit it was lovely to see Scout Adventures have been improving the site with new paths, new activities, a new freezer for ice blocks and new trolleys!
Thank you!
Thank you for a fantastic stay
Thank you for a fantastic stay - all the scout leaders were super friendly, the accommodation was great. We stayed in the Peter Harrison lodge and couldn’t fault it. Food was fab too - the children (all 36 of them!) had an amazing time.
Good day but not as good as previous years
Staff were good with the children, activities that were on offer seemed to engage them. They left tired. However, there seemed to be less activities on offer than previously and this was a shame. The inflatables field was almost empty. The q for some activities was too long all day which is partly a result of this. Not as good as previous years.
Great camp but poor communication lets the centre down
Our campers had a great time and enjoyed the activities we had booked and our camp was a great success, but this was down to the good weather and the program that we had organised for the weekend. However from my perspective as the camp organiser it is never a smooth experience dealing with the centre. The communication is seriously lacking. I emailed them on the Monday before due to arrive on the Friday and only received a response during my journey to the campsite.
They double booked our campfire putting our leaders in an awkward position when approached by another group.
We invited the staff to our campfire to share songs and Scouting from around the world which we were told that they would attend, but they didn't show up.
Then after the camp the invoicing has all been incorrect. It is one stress after another.
We didn't have a great experience this…
We didn't have a great experience this year first of all there was no one to welcome our children when they arrived at the venue, it was a bit unorganised. Apart from that it was an average experience.
Disappointed not so many things there
Only gave it 3 stars as there were a lot of things that aren't there anymore. The climbing archery, grass sledging rafting they enjoyed but we're very disappointed that there was no abseiling waterside, aerial runway or zip wire that they'd seen pictures of before and older siblings had told them about and not much craft,Beavers always enjoy making something and usually have more time at Gilwell to make things and things that are a little bit different to weekly meetings,we usually pick up idea's too.The ones that went the other year enjoyed talking on the radio that used to have in the square and were looking forward to that this year again .
We understand all the hard work that goes into planning these events but disappointed there seems to be a lot less things than there used to be.
Thank you for all your hard work
An excellent site as always
As always the staff on site are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They were very attentive when asked to ring across a couple tables to our camping area and the shower / toilet block was very clean and well cared for. We’ll see you again next year!
Kentdale Scout District Camp
As usual Angela and her team were extremely friendly and helpful checking we okay after the massive thunderstorm.Whilst we didn’t use any of the activities the improvement to the Centres main track is fantastic and long overdue,we were able to take our vehicles up to the top carpark with out having to worry about damaging them
We had a very enjoyable Camp and we’re able to complete all our activities which included
Pioneering
Knife and axe
Back woods cooking
Fire lightning
Shelter building
up
Cubs had a great day out Long queues
Cubs had a great day out - some long queues though over 1.5hr waiting for one activitie !
Not as good as it use to be and like everything else getting very expensive ..
Simply wonderful.
From the face to face booking and organisation process with Ollie on Reception to our Beaver activity day, I cannot fault it. The team leading our activities were enthusiastic, kind and patient. They were safely prepared for our Beavers and ensured everyone had ample attempts and were included. The team at Gilwell are simply wonderful. Thankyou.
We had a great time in the Tented Village
We had a great time in the Tented Village at Broadstone Warren. The kitchen and dining areas were great as were the size of the bell tents. Plenty of room for the cubs and Scouts. The young people thoroughly enjoyed the zip wire and abseiling.
The international volunteer instructors…
The international volunteer instructors and the general helpfulness, can-do attitude and good humour of the staff always make it a pleasure to bring my district brownies for a weekend. We stayed in Bears Den as usual and had a package that included four activities - two instructor led and two self led. Things may not always go to plan, but the staff always work out a solution. The dorms are super hot in the summer, so pack light bedding. Rebooked for next year.
Youlbury Residential June 2025
We started our three days at Youlbury with a very warm welcome by our two hosts, and the friendly nature of the staff continued throughout our stay.
The accommodation was modern, warm and clean and having the use of the common room and the well-stocked kitchen was a real boon.
The food was excellent and plentiful and the activities lots of fun and full of challenges for the children, even in the rain!
Thank you very much.
