The staff were all helpful, friendly and welcoming. The location was well kept, plenty of space for the scouts to run around, but pitches were well located to give privacy from other groups. Scout... See more

Egg hunting on the training field at dusk
We are a very local Cub pack, possibly the closest physically to Gilwell park as we meet in Chingford Station road. I have visited the location hundreds of times. It’s a great home for scouting with numerous interesting sites and fun area’s. We visited some of the historic faith sites, the great oak tree and the Training field on this occasion.
Its a great place for a residential
Its a great place for a residential. The site is fantastic, with lots of activities available. The staff come from round the world which really adds to the experience!
Guides enjoyed crate stacking, leaders hated the administration!
Will be sending a separate email with concerns regarding administration.
The activity itself was fine - with the instructor being organised, safe, calm, gave clear instructions and the girls had a lovely time.

Easy to book
Easy to book, slightly slow to respond. Friendly and welcoming staff at the site. Good facilities.
Fantastic time at Gilwell Park Scout…
Fantastic time at Gilwell Park Scout Centre. Lodges are great for our two weeks pantomime rehearsals.
Gilwell Park
We stayed in The Branchett Lodge for our Winter Camp and never again. The building was dirty and the electric in the kitchen was faulty due to a leak in the roof. We spent the weekend worrying that the leak would cause a fire in the electric lighting cable, (even though an electrician had removed the light fitting and taped the wires together) and mopping the floor due to water puddles caused by the leaking roof.
Good but surprised that nearest toilet block was closed
It would have been nice for the site to have the nearest toilet block to us open when we arrived rather than us having to ask for it - the site was a good 10-15 minute walk from the nearest open block. Too far. But, to be fair, the block was reopened quickly after our request.
Activity Weekend
Absolutely fantastic weekend thoroughly enjoyed by all the Scouts. A full and varied program of activities was put on. The instructors were friendly and assertive when needed and also encouraged and motivated the youngsters to give it their best shot and challenge themselves. Continually reinforced a teamwork ethic and got everyone to participate at some point over the weekend. Will definitely attend again in the future.

We had the best time!
We had an absolutely amazing time, lovely clean accommodation, the food was amazing and they kept us well fed throughout our stay. The staff were absolutely amazing—so friendly, supportive, and dedicated to making our experience unforgettable. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone felt included and had a great time. From organising fun activities to sharing their knowledge and passion for the outdoors, their enthusiasm was contagious. Highly recommend this adventure for anyone looking for adventure and make lifelong memories!

Active
Organised, friendly, safe, active: our children gained a great deal from the experiences and the teaching staff had opportunity to identify needs in children of which we were unaware! Super-helpful! We will be back.

Helpful team - great experience
The staff at Youlbury were incredibly helpful with some last minute changes - (I would add much better when you speak to them in person than via email).
Our group of 16/17year olds had a fantastic time and really appreciated all of the activities put on for them; they even got fully involved in songs around the campfire! We would definitely go back again.
