The staff were all helpful, friendly and welcoming. The location was well kept, plenty of space for the scouts to run around, but pitches were well located to give privacy from other groups. Scout... See more

Our Beaver Scouts had a fantastic day…
Our Beaver Scouts had a fantastic day at Broadstone Warren and loved the Low ropes activity. Amber and her team were so helpful and welcoming. Many Thanks
Year 6 at Gilwell
We had a great week in many aspects of the whole experience....accommodation/food and grounds were excellent. There was a wide range of activities and the children enjoyed taking part. However some activities did not have enough for the children to do and they became bored. The leaders were polite and kind but some lacked enthusiasm and so the interaction with the children was not as exciting for them as it could have been.
We would definitely return as overall the experience was good.
Our time at Youlbury
We had a great time at Youlbury on the climbing wall and crate stacking. The leaders were great and lead our groups well. Inspiring them with confidence to cope with the heights off the ground.
The centenary lodge was good, clean and ready for us to move in, but we needed more bowls and plates. This was due to a school visit before us, using Bear’s Den too and swapping crockery.
Nice overall venue for a celebratory scout group camp
Nice overall venue for a celebratory group camp. Friendly staff, but some activity boxes were lacking in equipment - these were removed from our invoice, which was much appreciated. Freezer in building needed major de-icing due to door being left open by previous users. No dustpan and brush in building and hoover was blocked. 2 hoovers but only one had a metal pipe to use. Kitchen was well equipped.
Really really really poor customer…
Really really really poor customer service, like really really bad! I am a committed volunteer scout leader and it is a real shame that I have to write this, but they need to recognise that their booking process is awful, their 2+ week reply times are not good enough and lack of flexibility means I won’t camp here again. Find another campsite, there are so many better options!
Very comfortable and clean
Very comfortable and clean. Easy to book and good communication
Attended archery permit course at…
Attended archery permit course at Gilwell, was really well led and felt well-supported throughout. Engagingly run, too
Great centre.
Activities are well lead by friendly staff. Lodge was warm and comfortable. Food was good.
That's why we come back year after year.
don't listen to dietary requirements…
don't listen to dietary requirements and the catering staff were rude

Excellent experience
Everyone really bent over backwards to make the stay at Youlbury as easy and enjoyable as possible. All staff interactions were positive and the staff were very friendly. Overall it was a fantastic time for the young people attending.
Brilliant day today
Brilliant day today. 40 beavers from Enfield using Branchet field for a fun sports day. We needed a table and chair and this was dealt with very quickly with the friendly staff member I spoke to. Thank you Gilwell. The District Beavers will be back.
Cub camp
The setting is incredible. We used the tented village for Cub pack. It has a well equipped mess tent with benches and tables. Excellent toilet facilities are not too far away.
The range of activities is fantastic and the Cubs enjoyed theirs and overcoming the challenges.
The down side - several tents were out of commission due to broken tent zips - they are not robust enough. The kitchen oven could do with a deep clean.
Great facility for scouting groups
Great facility for scouting groups, very friendly kind staff, lovely food if get catering package and lots of fun activities. In great location with some beautiful views. Nothing is too much bother or a problem if need something. Will be back again for more fun.
Fantastic support and great team
I want to say a massive thank you to the staff who were there for our day. They supported our group amazingly in awful conditions and brought out hot drinks. They encourage them to part take in the water activity when they were not so sure. They were great. Very helpful indeed.
Facilities were good hot showers for the group after activities and plenty of toilets. We were moved into the tree area for camping which worked great would have struggled on the grass area as it was boggy and wouldn’t have been big enough for the amount of people we needed to tent.
All in all. A lovely facility and great staff would recommend it being used again.
The Youlbury site is a wonderful place
The Youlbury site is a wonderful place! Acres of woodland to wander and enjoy wide games, campfires and generally being outside!
I took a group of 24 young people from our youth group, we had 3 activities booked, they chose one and the activites ran at the same time. We enjoyed archery, zip wire and aerial trek - instructors were great with the young people. Thank you Youlbury!
Summer Camp - Great friendly and helpful staff
Great friendly and helpful staff. The activities were all excellent. Modern, clean toilets and showers. Large enough site to be isolated if you wanted to be.
63rd Bristol at Great Tower 2024
The 63rd Bristol Scout Group spent an amazing week at the Great Tower Site in early August 2024 and the team there were brilliant. The facilities are just amazing for young people and offer real adventure in a wonderful site. We cannot fault the support the team gave us in the run up and during the week and we'll be back whenever we can. Thank you!
