Outstanding team work!

The team which has worked over a week in our town after an accident with the main gas pipe has been outstanding!
Everyone so helpful and polite!

A Perfect Experience

We needed to have the gas meter at our business premises moved and larger bore gas pipe installed.
From day one to the end of the works SGN were exceptional; planning was professional and timely; elapsed time for completion of the work was far less than anticipated (I assumed that the fact that we were putting in disabled access might have counted in this); and costs much less that anticipated. All of the on site worrkers were professional particularly in ensuring safety of our members and the public. And last but not least the policy of nominating an individual to co-ordinate all activity worked flawlessly (DS please take a bow).

Not worthy of a 1 Star rating

Whoever runs this company should go back to school and learn some basic organisational skills. They dug up one of two busy main roads into our area in March and it was out of action for four weeks, which caused businesses to lose out due to the massive diversion to get back home. Now they’ve decided to dig up the exact same road again and this time it’s been out of action for 4 weeks to date. They obviously didn’t get it right the first time round! Out of the latest 4 weeks, there has been workers there for about 10 days and nobody there for the rest of the time. Now, without finishing this part, they have started digging up another road in the same viscinity, causing more disruption. Why would you start another job without finishing the last one?? The company must be run by incompetent, inconsiderate people who clearly have no respect for the local people and don’t care about wasting money on doing jobs twice. Maybe if they got it right the first time they wouldn’t have to charge the bill payer as much money for their gas supply.

RUDE AND CONDESCENDING

Imagine having someone who’s meant to be a professional come inside your home only to be rude, condescending and belittling! All because your carbon monoxide alarm went off and you had symptoms (severe tiredness and dizziness) plus smelling gas earlier and of what you thought might be a carbon monoxide leak. Not only was I made to feel like I was imagining the issue (his words: let’s not make this into something it doesn’t need to be) the young man in question spoke to me like a child and I was likely double his age, all in my own home!! Not sure what is going on at SGN but it’s disgusting and never have I felt so violated in my own home. Message for management: surely your priority with employees is to make sure customers feel safe! not the opposite so why are you employing people that do the exact opposite of that? If you don’t like being on call because it’s disturbed your evening and you clearly hate your job simply find a new one!

DISGUSTING SERVICE

After approaching 10 yrs of first wish disconnection from gas to my property around 1 1/2 yrs + ago meter removed. About a year ago Ist call by SGN wanting to survey before a disconnection from the road which they claim necessary. Nothing happened and this survey 3 x times now. Always turning up unannounced.
The latest SGN turned up 6 weeks ago I was out and a garbled calling card was left. I returned the call and asked if anyone wishes to call then have courtesy of making an appointment. Yesterday another SGN turns up again no notice to do YET ANOTHER SURVEY before disconnection. This I denied as fed up with all the disruption emptying under stairs cupboard each. The same SGN returned moments later very apologetic and polite with reassurance this would be last time.
Let him in and he explained everything to me and the procedure.
I was told guys would come out to fit up the road in front of my neighbour opposite around 4.00pm. The 2 x SGN guys knocked my door yet again at that time and remonstrated to my why hole not dug!!!!... As if it was my responsibility to know!.. Coupled to that they then said they wanted to dig up the payment right between 2 x water points and contrary to what was told to me in detail earlier. I told them they could not come I as they said they need to see in the meter cupboard yet again????. I explained that the hole was to be done in the road opposite where the barriers had been left and neighbour notified earlier. Quite dismissively and unprofessionally they claimed this was wrong and the guy before didn't know way he was doing. I had confidence in the first guy and little for the last 2. I basically suggested to them to call a manager as this was getting all confusing and drawn out even more. Once I hear drilling some 20 minutes later and they infact started the hole in tge road opppsite.
Sometime after 6.00pm my nurse turned up and the SGN could not miss her coming and they knocked my door minutes later. I didn't answer
When she left they knocked again I was then having dinner. Today at 1.30pm I was just getting into my car with my 3 yr granddaughter and very same 2 guys turned wanting to go into my cupboard. I told them that I'm on way out and they need to call in advance if they need access. One guys then in quite rude tone saying I refused them access as if for no reason. I since call SGN with a complaint about the whole situation.
If anyone needs to do anything then I will only respond to a mutual acceptable appointment. Finally the whole in the road is still a hole barriers etc blocking my neighbours driveway. Informed it can be 3- 4 before this is filled!!!!.... Absolute amateurish organisation from top to bottom. Customer service non existent - leadership & organisation abysmal - manners of monkeys.
DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE.

Horrible

I recently had the gas meter outside my house moved by a company called SGM. The company was tasked with moving the gas meters for the entire street, and unfortunately, during this process, they made mistakes that led to significant damage to my property. SGM created two large holes in my bedroom while attempting to install the gas meter pipes incorrectly. The box housing the gas meter was also damaged in the process, leaving it in a state of disrepair.

Despite these issues, SGM assured me that they would return on June 11, 2024, to rectify the situation. Regrettably, they failed to honor this commitment, leaving me with unresolved damage to my home and no clear timeline for repairs.

I want to highlight the challenges I have faced following the incomplete work by SGM. The unauthorized damage to my property, including the holes in my bedroom and the compromised gas meter box, has created safety concerns and a significant inconvenience. I advise others to exercise caution when engaging with SGM for similar services and to ensure clear expectations and accountability are established upfront to avoid similar repercussions.

I am actively seeking a resolution to this matter and advocating for the necessary repairs to be completed promptly to restore the integrity of my property. I recommend that others proceed with vigilance and thorough communication when working with SGM to prevent similar issues from arising. Your understanding and proactive approach can safeguard against potential complications and safeguard your property's well-being.

2 weeks = a month, probably longer, annoying.

We got a letter that they would be in our building changing gas pipes and that it would take a week or so.. this was on April 15th its now may 21st. The engineers are banging and drilling in the early hours of the day, knocking on our door atleast 3 times a day as a flat that likes to keep to themselves it's becoming increasingly agitating. If your good at your job surely you don't need to check and fix a pipe everyday. They also have walked into our flat without knocking and their ringleader came to our door again with a face like a slapped backside telling us they need to come into our flat again.... get this over with and git tae.

A huge Thank you to James and the SGN team for your excellent, professional, courteous and quick repair in Epsom this past couple of days. A shame about the traffic but better than a huge smoking crater which seems to have been the other option.

No plans?

Not sure this organization has any clue about planning. Roadworks weeks leading to months. It appears there's two teams. One who digs the holes and then .,..... Well.. nothing .... Locally people are suggest that SGN hasn't managed the 'gas' part of the works. So we all have to out up with delays and congestion. Poor, poor planning.

SGN - Absolute Joke

SGN - What a Joke. This has to be the worse gas company around. They are responsible for most road closures in my area and traffic lights. They consistently extend re-opening dates or road closures/traffic lights. These so called emergency works never have anyone working on them. When there are people there, they are just standing around talking drinking tea and having a cigarette. Absolutely disgusting. Do they know or even care about the extra stress and time these road closures cause people on roads that cannot deal with the existing traffic.

11 March Very impressed by SGN

11 March. Tunbridge Wells. Smelled a leak from external meter. Rang the emergency line. Impressed by efficiency of the (Irish) call-handler.

As promised, engineer arrived within an hour. Found leak, replaced leaky meter. Checked that internal services working OK. Diligent, competent, helpful man, with great customer-facing skills.

Kudos an impressive organisation. Good to experience a section of the English infrastructure that still works well.

Thanks, SGN. Well done.
