I had a great experience with SGN

I had a great experience with SGN. Kevin was very helpful and friendly. The CO alarm rang and it got me scared and worried, but he was very calm and explained everything thoroughly, which was very reassuring. He also spoke to my landlord, on speaker mode, and that was also great as it meant I was aware of everything that was being communicated to resolve the situation.

Absolutely disgraceful, bad service.. from 4th and 5th ..

Absolutely disgraceful, without gas for two days. Boiling water in the kettle for shower. No food/ heating. My son called the office 3 times and the person said, Engineer will be there between 17.00 to 21.00 . We waited no sign. Called again to the office/ again the person says he’s on his way don’t know what time he’ll be at your flat.
I asked him have I to sit awake until morning?? “ he goes I can’t tell you that because the engineers are working 24 hours duty.” There’s no planing, firstly if they don’t have the engineers to fix the issue… why start digging up the ground..
Such a bad service they don’t care about the customers. Everyone is only after bills. We are struggling.
My Son stayed home because of the engineer.
This is absolutely ridiculous .

Contractors to SGN finishing job

Contractors came early this morning to cement areas of my drive and passageway dug up for gas pipes. The two contractors arrived on time and completed the job. You can see what a professional job they did and they obviously take a pride in their work. Thanks to Adrian their boss and to both men. Already had compliments from my neighbour😊👍

Cowboy Company

This appalling incompetent company have created absolute carnage and chaos for both pedestrians and drivers in my neighbourhood since the beginning of 2025. Road has been dug up for almost 4 weeks now at entrance into our estate but then abandoned the work leaving a mess and obstruction for drivers entering and leaving our estate.

Shocking service

We called the emergency gas number at…

We called the emergency gas number at 11.30pm on a Saturday night after smelling has in our new home from start to finish they were so polite and responded very quickly within 30 mins Adrian David from st Mary clay branch was at our door and straight down to the issue he made sure we had heaters so the children and ourselves were warm while he got to work he stayed the entire time keeping us updated very regularly, very chatty very polite and very hard working he stayed out until everything was up and running and made sure the house was warmed up before he left , we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

SGN TOTAL WASTE OF TIME

SGN , I would give minus if possible. Have blocked all the pavement and road off for the last 6 weeks and yet no-one has been working during the week days, suddenly turn up on a Saturday morning and pretend to work for 2 hrs then clear off again. No emergency services can get to a property on the road if required. When I complained I was told THATS THE WAY THINGS ARE

Potentially had a gas leak...

Potentially had a gas leak.... reported... sgn were on site within 50mins and checked the house top to bottom.
The engineer was pleasant and very efficient. Clearly knew his job and was very polite.

Very impressed by the overall approach…

Very impressed by the overall approach to the work which was rather Extensive… the quality of Internal pipework was faultless … we found the operatives friendly and helpful… Given they are doing a very difficult job while trying to keep all the people happy all the time… next week it’s the reinstatement of the drive so far very pleased…

We had a problem with our gas pressure…

We had a problem with our gas pressure into our house , I phoned SGN
They attended within a hour , the gas engineer explained what was the problem
And had to send the meter team out the following day
The crew arrived at 8-30 and sorted the issue, great communication and prompt service thanks guys

Oh my Lord

Oh my Lord, this lot have gotta be the worst company to ever have in charge of the gas network. They closed our road to do planned maintenance 3 weeks ago, causing traffic chaos, no where to park, limited access to properties. It's crazy. And in 3 weeks they've done a total of 9 hours work. Basically dug a hole and never seen again. Clearly a bunch of cowboys.

No stars for this dangerous company and council This gas safety company is not fit for purpose they are turning a blind eye to dangerous gas installations I have an illegal gas FLU on my roof and Edinburgh council told me SGN say it’s fine to have an illegal gas FLU on my roof from the property next door even when they know it’s completely illegal and at risk of explosion and CO Poisoning as it was an illegal installation so Edinburgh council who also have no proper professional health and safety anymore can get away with putting us at risk because of SGN lack of care and professionalism.

potential CO leak

potential CO leak, couldn’t find the leak but still shut my gas off and was told to find an independent contractor which will cost over £200 to turn back on. Bit stupid really may as well of gotten a gas safe out in the first place now without heating in November for 3 days with a 35 week pregnant partner. Wish they told you they was gonna shut you off before taking matters into there own hands.

Left without gas, without warning and without explanation, but with a gas leak!

Our house was left without gas all day without warning. I was working from home and the house was freezing, the heating would not turn on and I couldn't understand why. At 3:30PM I noticed somebody on our front garden fiddling with our gas meter (!!), so I went outside and asked what was happening. I was told "we are working on reconnecting you to the gas supply", but they left without reconnecting us! A pipe was missing from the gas meter box when I checked, and I could smell gas! Kept phoning and kept being reassured that someone was still working on-site, although after 4PM nobody was around anymore. So we are currently left without gas (no heating, no hot water), without answers, without having being warned about this; we don't know when we are going to have gas back. Due to the strong gas smell coming from our gas meter box, we had to call the emergency phone number to have somebody else around to stop the leak!

Disgusting company

Disgusting company. Left me with a child of 5 years with no gas ( still with no gas ) after saying they finished a job they had not ! Currently on day four - no warning was ever given and I have had to chase them relentlessly every day. I will be taking this further. We are cold and having to bucket wash. Appalling - no customer care or service. I will be reporting everyone involved.

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from…

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from SGN contractors, non emergency works, 3 times in the past week they have started work before 7.00 in a residential housing estate, consequently woke our baby up 3 times with the sound of a grab wagon bashing his grab against his truck, despite numerous complaints nothing has been done, they don’t actually seem to care about local residents! , also covered my partners car in stone dust which has damaged the windscreen, very very pissed off with them, I will be taking this further.

SGN contractor ruined our dropped kerb.

We had the gas main upgraded in our street by a contractor for SGN. All was going well, except it ran weeks over and we couldn't get on our drive for over a week but we could live with that. The problem is when they replaced our tarmac ro our dropped kerb, they used alot less tarmac than required. This has resulted in a large bump up what should be a dropped kerb. Kent county Council have admitted its not acceptable, but have said they don't know whose at fault. Absolutely ridiculous, I'm not at fault and I have to bump my car up every time I use my drive. It's taken a year to get nowhere, now time for some legal advice.

A Perfect Experience

We needed to have the gas meter at our business premises moved and larger bore gas pipe installed.
From day one to the end of the works SGN were exceptional; planning was professional and timely; elapsed time for completion of the work was far less than anticipated (I assumed that the fact that we were putting in disabled access might have counted in this); and costs much less that anticipated. All of the on site worrkers were professional particularly in ensuring safety of our members and the public. And last but not least the policy of nominating an individual to co-ordinate all activity worked flawlessly (DS please take a bow).
