Shocked at disinterested staff😳

Having called on two occasions to report a strong smell of gas I spoke to two different male staff who were incredibly disinterested, bored, unresponsive to name a few negative attributes!
Held on line for ages to eventually be given a wrong number to call, to be told they couldn’t help with my query, to be given a discontinued number, to be told they are based in the Midlands when clearly the call centre is in the South, probably London…there was no sense of urgency whatsoever which I find unbelievably worrying as this was a number to call to report a gas smell in an emergency 😡😨
I solved the issue myself and contacted a Midlands gas company called Cadent who were incredibly professional and told me they have the same issue when they call SGN !!
I am in total disbelief that people who work in this environment, ie…gas issues which can be incredibly dangerous can have such little interest or concern!? This really needs looking into surely 😳 it makes you wonder, as a member of the public if we should even bother in future as these two individuals really didn’t care especially as this is also a ridiculous amount of precious fuel wasted, let alone the possibility of a dangerous episode 🤬

Poor company not very quick at doing emergency repair taking ages for repair to be done company to sort signage out very poor as well could be handled a lot better for signage because traffic was going up and down road that it could not handle and cope with heavy traffic could of also sorted this out better from the start

I called 999 for emergency service the gas outside my flat burst I was in panic mode, the guys took 20 minutes to arrive, they wore great very friendly and calm make me very comfortable, they made an amazing Job I'm so grateful for the service. I have had very bad experience with SGN I have had appointments booked with them for my gas about four times now,and they haven't turned up for the appointments , but turned up when I was out on a different day without me knowing,i am stressed,I told the staff that I have Asthma and other underlying health conditions,they didn't put me on their priority list.i can't take anymore days off again.

Looked on SGN website for quote to have gas supplied to a property. The quotes are accurate insofar as the charge is a bog standard price no matter the property or location. Why?
It would be good if they just gave the price you pay rather than a price minus VAT which we all have to pay anyway. An additional £156 is worthy of knowing at the outset.

We’ve had our gas cut off in our block of flats for 4 days and the customer service has been very helpful and got in touch with the dispatch team to provide us with updates. The engineers who came to make the final connection on the 4th day were very helpful and kind, made sure the heating and hot water were back on in the flat before they left.
SGN are disrupting peoples lives
SGN are replacing pipes on the main road to Bexhill from Hastings. Scheduled to take 4 months. My normal 16 minute school run now takes 55 minutes due to their closure of half the road and poor traffic light system. They have closed around 100 meters of road for 3 or 4 small holes and whenever you pass there is nobody working there at all. If they are allowed to disrupt a main road this way , they should be made to do the work in a timely manner and actually have a workforce on site.

I DO NOT HAVE GAS TO MY BUILDING. THEY KEEP SENDING ME LETTERS DEMANDING TO KNOW MY GAS METER NUMBER - I DO NOT HAVE A GAS SUPPLY. KEEP TRYING TO PHONE THEM BUT ON HOLD FOR HOURS AND NOBODY EVER ANSWERS. TURNS OUT THEIR CALL CENTRE IS IN SCOTLAND AND THEY HAD AN EXTRA BANK HOLIDAY YESTERDAY BUT DIDN'T BOTHER TO LEAVE AN ANSWERING MACHINE MESSAGE BUT JUST LET THEIR CALLS RING OUT ALL DAY HENCE THE TOTAL FAILURE TO ANSWER THE PHONES

Reconnect our gas supply! It’s not Rocket Science!
We had a gas leak which they fixed. We’ve now been waiting for a week for them to come and reconnect our supply. They say we are highlighted as vulnerable as my husband has heart problems and I have osteoporosis. We are in our 60’s and have had to endure the current freezing temperatures with no heating or hot water for a week. You can’t get any response from them and believe me I’ve tried. My husband was unwell on Saturday 16 December which was very distressing. Just reconnect our gas supply for God’s sake. This company is a sham and avoid at all costs. I’m disgusted!

A passer by smelt gas and alerted SGN. The lads that came out during the night in freezing conditions were superb. They worked away with as little noise as possible.....working right outside my house, apart from the noise of the jack hammer, they were as quiet as a mouse. They are back out today, friendly, polite, knowledgeable and hard working. They do a great job, don't knock them, they are protecting us from gas explosions. We'll done lads.

amazing service, came out super quick when i phoned and said i can smell gas from my downstairs neighbours property. very friendly, competent and hardworking staff (sam and des from the south london team). worked quickly and efficiently to make the property safe and find the leak. called a locksmith who managed to enter my neighbours property without damaging hes locks and left everything clean and tidy when finished. thank you so much you guys literally are lifesavers!!
