Unfortunately
Unfortunately, my experience as a seller with Sharman Quinney Peterborough has been extremely disappointing.
During several months of marketing my property, there was almost no proactive communication or transparency. I received no regular updates about online interest, viewings, or feedback from potential buyers.
One particular buyer was allowed to make multiple unserious offers — first £335k, then £340k, then £345k, and finally £330k — while the agent did nothing to manage or filter this behaviour.
Instead of representing me as a seller, the agent repeatedly tried to pressure me to reduce my price, while doing little to promote or negotiate the property effectively.
No marketing strategy, no weekly reports, no clear plan — just silence and reactive communication.
I felt completely unrepresented and lost confidence in the process.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise other sellers in Peterborough to think carefully before signing with this branch. You deserve an agency that actually works to sell your home, not one that simply passes messages back and forth
Many thanks to Olly and Tawnee
Many thanks to Olly and Tawnee. Good customer service. Communication is key and they both went above and beyond helping me at a worrying time. You were both BRILLANT.
Excellent service
I’ve just bought my first flat in Cambridge through Sharman Quinney. They were a pleasure to work with. Maria was amazing - really calm, helpful and kind throughout the process. It made a big difference, thank you.
Dealt with the Peterborough PE1 branch
Dealt with the Peterborough PE1 branch. Highly unprofessional and inexperienced staff. The man that came out to take photos and allegedly draw up a floor plan, failed to. The photos weren't so bad. No floor plan drawn up for several days, posted our property on their site without the floor plan. When it was done, the floor plan was totally incorrect! Then was promised call backs from the office but received nnone. Reported all this to the Manager Mike who said "take your property off with us then!" ????!!!! Shocking service, I guess if the manager is like that then what else can one expect. Worrying experience
Constantly call you!
We viewed a property with this company and first of all they were late for the viewing - ok these things happen but no call or no apology. We advised them it was not the property for us but told them it wasn’t price it just wasn’t the one for us, however they have constantly called my partner telling him it’s been reduced and he had repeatedly told them it ISN'T the price.
Now they constantly call my partner asking him if we have sold our house yet and even though he has told them multiple times we are not interested in selling with them they keep calling, so much to the extent he has had to block there number because we feel like it’s borderline harassment!
Will never use again
Will never use again. Have been waiting over 2 weeks now for the Peterborough letting branch to pay me the 6 month upfront rent my tenants have paid but they keep putting me off by firstly saying the account wasn’t active on there side and then once the account was active they stated they have to wait for the accounts department to transfer the money into my bank account with no time scale as to when this will be. Also when they agreed to let my property for me they stated there was a promotion on and the cost would be £450 plus VAT but they charged me £750 plus VAT. Poor communication and no customer service. I have put in a formal complaint.
Poor communicators
Instructed SQ Thrapston to sell 2 properties. Was pushed towards their favoured conveyancers, the first I rejected due to terrible online reviews. At viewings their performance was decidedly average; not interested in attending viewings after 5pm. Had one offer which was based on a viewing I did. Once we had accepted an offer the selling office lost interest and passed over to the sales progressor who was generally ineffective. No attention to detail whatsoever and poor/inaccurate communication. Ended up dealing with the agent for our purchase because emailing/calling SQ generally a waste of time. On completion not even a phone call or email thanking us for our business. A lot of our problems in the chain were not their fault but they made a tortuous chain worse by their poor communication skills. Would never use again.
A pleasure
We met Craig, who showed us around the house we were looking at
Very knowledgeable respected the vendor and property.
In short been on the planet a long time and he is the best agent I've ever had to deal with
Thank you Craig
Very disappointed with the whole sales…
Very disappointed with the whole sales process. It started even before we entered into the contract, when the papers we were sent for signing had the wrong address for the property we were selling. Apparently the system wouldn’t allow them to select the correct address, but as we didn’t want to be seen to be selling someone else’s property we insisted on it being fixed, and after many emails back and forth it turned out it was in fact possible to update it to the correct address. That was just the beginning. It took several weeks to get the property on the market. The agency then published the wrong photos as well as wrong information about the property itself, which, although we spotted it immediately and asked them to take down the ad until the errors had been corrected, stayed up for another three days. Long enough to put potential buyers off. It then took another week if not more to get the agency to correct the ad (on two occasions one error was removed and another one added) and get it back online. During this period the agency were unresponsive and difficult to get hold of and it seemed as though they only made an effort when pushed. We, on the other hand, were growing impatient to get the property on the market after long delays. When the ad was finally up we noticed that the presentation video made up from the photos of the property, still contained the wrong photos, but by this time we were so fed up we just let it slide. What we really wanted was to move to another agency as soon as possible, but since Sharman Quinney has the longest sole agency period of any agencies we’ve encountered (24 weeks compared to the usual 12 weeks), we had no choice but to remain. In the end the property was not sold, they did not seem to make any efforts to market it but instead sat on their hands and waited for business to come to them. We also had no feedback during the process unless when we asked for it repeatedly, not even when we were told several viewings were booked and the potential buyers cancelled were we informed. It’s the worst agency we’ve dealt with and we were happy when we were finally able to move to a more professional one.
Plenty of communication.

Good honest approach with feed back.
Listed a house no lender will offer…
Listed a house no lender will offer mortgage on due to spray foam insulation rotting risk to the roof timbers.
& how can an estate agents, affiliated with Mind mental health, then call my loved one - who is autistic - and proceed to rudely carp at and lecture them ?
Why was this necessary? To tell them they were never going to be able to view the house, was never invited to a past open viewing and actually was Raunds really for them. What on earth’s the matter with you? The female making this call is in real need of training and human decency. I hope the regulators remove her rights to practice. What an absolute cretin. Disgusting conduct.
NEVER USE THIS COMPANY
My young family and I were due to move into a property this January. We viewed the property a month before, and Sharman Quinney sent us a contract to sign. Throughout the process communication was very poor. We rang the office more or less everyday in the week up to the move as we had yet to receive a signed contract from the landlord. We were assured everything was progressing but 48 hours before we were due to move in (a date that was agreed by both parties), Sharman Quinney revealed that they had had no contact with the landlord for ten days. Because we were due to be moving in two days time, we had organised movers, new nurseries and schools for our children, and end of tenancy cleaners. All this cost considerable time and money. Sharman Quinney then confessed that the property would not be able to be let to us as there was a burst pipe. Even if this were true, all of this could have been communicated to us days before. If there had been worryingly no contact with the landlord, this should’ve been said to us. Instead, we were left homeless and now have nowhere to move into. As a mother of a family of two children under four, this is incredibly distressing.
No compensation was offered to us. We are left five hundred pounds out of pocket and with no home. It has been an inhumane and uncaring experience and has caused everyone, especially my children, a lot of stress. Please don’t use this company. They aren’t honest.

Above and beyond - thanks Becky!
We've recently sold our property with the Thrapston branch, and although it was an awful process with a lengthy chain and some terrible solicitors / other agents involved, our experience with Becky was amazing. Becky communicated everything to me, numerous phonecalls and emails on some days, and she was consistently helpful. Becky went above and beyond, and appreciated that moving house is one of the most stressful experiences, and a lot was riding on our sale.
Excellent customer experience
As a first-time property buyer in the U.K., Chloe was instrumental in guiding us through the process from start to finish. Chloe was helpful during our searches, which ensured we made informed decisions. Chloe kept us informed every step of the way, and any questions we had (of which we had many) were clarified without hesitation or annoyance. There were hiccups along the way that were clearly communicated and resolved promptly. Overall, it was a pleasant and positive experience with Chloe from Sharman Quinney.
Thank you for getting my first house…
Thank you for getting my first house over the line, was tense at time but got there in the end, everyone was helpful throughout but big shout out for Chloe Phillips for getting the ball rolling which made a great start to the process of being a first time buyer
Thanks Werrington team!
My house sold a few days ago. Now that I've had a change to breathe, I'd like to thank Lorraine, John and Renate at the Werrington Branch for all their efforts getting me to this point. Great service and always happy to help whenever I had a query. Huge thanks to Chloe also for sorting my mortgage for the property I'm buying - she made it such a speedy and hassle-free process. Thanks all!!!
