Unhelpful

Unhelpful, bad mouth other businesses and just try to sell how amazing they are rather than listening to the customer! Gave up when they couldn’t get an agreement in principle for me only looking at high street options and trying to demand a 15% deposit! Won’t be bothering with them again!!

Manipulation and lies..

Manipulation and lies... never again.

We was visited by Sharman Quinney Werrington who won us over to sell our property with their statistics of how great the were but turned out to be a horrific experience. It all started with small things like from viewings, feedback. Basically, we didn't get any without chasing them.

Then we received our first sale in November 2020, a cash buyer great! At one point in December there was a delay from our sellers paperwork, the branch manager Michael insisted I personally go knock at the sellers door for the paperwork... something I didn't feel comfortable with plus were in a pandemic! The searches was meant to be booked in January but we later found out from the other agent that Sharman Quinney "forgot" causing a delay of a few weeks. Eventually we had a survey completed on the house were selling and there was some issues, Sharman Quinney failed to provide the appropriate information to fix these issues with giving only vague verbal explanations causing further delays yet again. We finally got the issues resolved at a cost to us of around £500, our buyer then disappeared in March and would not answer the phone to Sharman Quinney again. We later got the truth from another agent...

So we relisted the property. I requested the Sharman Quinney conveyancing portal is updated but I was passed around from person to person as no one knows how to update this. We basically had to abandon this service which we are paying for because of pure incompetence.

We managed to secure another buyer, everything felt like it was going smoothly until the last 2-3 weeks where we was ready to exchange before it collapsed again. I was made aware by Sharman Quinney that our buyers buyer had been no responsive for some time. I regularly questioned this and as we approached a 3rd week of no response, I reached out to our buyer by post to contact me. Our buyer phoned me and believed the delay was being caused by a covenant, I said its your buyer and that Sharman Quinney are lying to one of us. It soon become clear that the information I had was correct and they had not informed their client my buyer. They was extremely upset and we all eventually agreed this had once again collapsed.

Now were in April 2021, I explained I needed a buyer whose in a position to buy quickly as we've held on to our purchase upto this point. I spoke to Sharman Quinney on a Thursday and was told that they have AT LEAST 10 people wanted to view my property that they would arrange for the following Tuesday as the house was empty. So they had a number of days to get some interest right? Tuesday comes and I've heard nothing, so I contact them and they say; we think we have 1 viewing... so I'm not happy! We take the viewing and they make an offer, great! We spoke with the branch manager Michael who talked us round into making this offer sound great. We then find out from the other agent that this buyer is selling a leasehold property... Something that is not going to be a quick turnaround! Something that Sharman Quinney failed to mention to benefit themselves once again.

It was at this point we served notice on Sharman Quinney. The process had affected by day to day life, my work and my marriage. I experienced some of the worst anxiety in my whole life and feel Sharman Quinney's only care for me as a client was money and not our wellbeing. For a company that supports Mind charity, the staff need some training in mental health!!!

Now 8-9 months in, were at risk of loosing the property were trying to buy after a catalogue of disasters. Before we went to market, my friend had made an offer on our house which we declined as was too low. In desperation we have now accepted this offer 20k under market value, were having to pay stamp duty and then to top it off Sharman Quinney email to say they will be pursuing their final sale fee. They believe the buyer was introduced during their contract whilst we was on notice but however existed long before. This was like a final nail in my coffin as I'm sure at this point the branch manager is trying to personally finish me off.

I'm now just broken by the process, I've lost time, money and emotions on a whole different level just trying to move to a new family home. Sharman Quinney will tell you everything you want to hear without considering your wellbeing as long as it benefits their pockets. Disgusting!

Avoid this estate agent if you can

Avoid this estate agent if you can. I am a property investor regularly buying property. SQ are dishonest and mess you around relentlessly. I have purchased over 20 properties in the area and fortunately till now have not had to deal with SQ. Now I know I won’t ever offer on one of their properties again. This was the Chatteris branch.

Avoid if at all possible.

Lived in multiple different rented places over ~10 years (i move around a lot with work) and SQ are by far the worst letting agent i have ever used.

Staff are uncommunicative, slow and incompetent. The online reporting system for faults is excellent - but never used by the staff. Not a single fault we ever reported was ever fixed - apart from the massive water leak we had which we fixed ourselves and then billed them for. There is no emergency out of hours contact number so tenants are left to fend for themselves in such situations.

In the year we rented with SQ - they never ONCE answered the phone, and only occasionally responded to emails.

On several occasions, we tried to visit the letting agent branch directly to complain- only to find the door locked (despite being during normal opening hours) and no one around. We even had to wait outside and have someone unlock the door to hand our keys back.

It is by no means evident what, exactly, these people do for their money. You'd be much better off taking your chances with another agent, or renting directly from the landlord. Heed my warning - avoid SQ if at all possible.

Vile vile vile company the senior…

Vile vile vile company the senior letting manager is beyond rude who continually over speaks you and will openly argue with you. Any issues are always made to feel are your fault - we absolutely love our home but are leaving because of the utter disgraceful customer service from them. Interestingly most of the poor reviews are down to the customer service which I feel speaks volumes about them...it proves it’s them with the issue..

Gary Morton...YUK!

Regretfully, I cannot give no stars. This is a really vile company. The review is for SQ but the company we went through are Kevin Henry. Kevin and Henry had a fantastic reputation in my town and when they retired, SQ kept the name to benefit themselves.
They still indulge in their dirty little practice of rowing in their own preferred energy supplier for a nice little backhander. It took more than one year to get compensation from Spark Energy and OVO Energy because of their nasty little practice that caused a cancer sufferer and an NHS employee inordinate amounts of stress. 15 months on and this disgusting company have done the same thing again, EVEN THOUGH WE ARE THE TENANTS AND HAVE THE SOLE RIGHT TO CHOOSE OUR OWN SUPPLIER. They actually told SSE (part of the OVO group) to take over our energy supply. We went straight to the Ombudsman AGAIN and got a grovelling letter of apology and a measly cheque for £30. The supply is now going back to our supplier. This dirty practice has to stop, particularly when there are people like Gary Morton handling their complaints. Nasty, irrelevant little man accepts no responsibility for what we have gone through.

Very unpleasant experience

One of their agent was very arrogant the whole time and did not even share the info that it is a steel frame house until after we made an offer!

Please avoid and find another agent

Please avoid and find another agent. The valuation was all good and chase ups came thick and fast to get us to put our house up for sale. 6 months on and not one call or chase up. Absolutely no communication skills at all. If they deal with buyers the same way then they will sell next to nothing. My wife and I have sold maybe 20 houses over the years and without doubt this has been the worst agent so far even after making allowances for Covid issues. Doesn’t deserve a 1 star review but that’s lowest you can give.

Disastrous

Disastrous. Avoid like the plague. Or just wear a hazmat suit. If you can't afford a hazmat, try and keep some of your deposit to hand in case of emergency. Or, much easier, avoid these crooks and go elsewhere.

I am a mortgage advisor

I am a mortgage advisor, and so, professionally, i must deal with quite a few agents. I also went through personally, over 40 properties in all my life, residential and buy to let, and i think this make me quite an expert in this trade.
I really don't have any doubt in saying that Sharman Quinney has been one of the best experiences i had till now. Not just professionalism but also deep personal commitment from any single member of staff. Special mention for Carrigan, who i bother so many times for so many details and she never lost her smile and positive attitude.
Thanks to all of you

Do not understand mechanics of property selling

I am not sure why anyone would give property to sell to these kind of agents in the market when they do not have decency to update on offer . I had a viewing on property Which I liked . Property is on the market for more than 6 months and reduced by 5% once . I put an offer by email and they do not bother to reply or update you on offer . This happens twice when I increased the offer . Probably this is the reason property is not sold. They do not communicate with buyers at all . I understand they do not get anything from buyer to have courtesy to reply him but as a seller how will I sell my property when they do not even communicate on offers made on my property . I will surely avoid giving my property to agent who has no interest to sell the property and who would not respect buyer as at the end of day seller needs buyer to sell property . Estate agent is just a middle man . Anyway this has encouraged me to set a website to review estate agents for buyers So that seller can decide themselves whom to give property for selling to achieve best price . Avoid Peterborough branch at any cost if you can

Thank you Luca

I highly recommend Luca at the Werrington office as a broker, very easy to deal with and not pushy. Throughout the process he would put his points across and allowed me to make informed decisions. At no point did I ever feel like I could not ask him anything, even what I thought were silly questions and more importantly where he didn’t have the answers he was not misleading, he was honest that he weren’t sure and would go away and find out and stuck to his promises coming back with responses without being chased….now that is a first!

From all the negative comments I hear about mortgage brokers and the house buying processes, Luca delivered an exceptional service and I would recommend him any day!

Pestered by the Cambridge office to get me to use them to sell my father's house

Didn't actually use them to sell my father's house, but got them to value it for probate. This seemed to go OK, but I was then rung up a number of times over a number of weeks by the Cambridge office, trying to get me to use them to sell the house, suggesting that they would just come round and take some photos, asking which solicitors I would be using, etc., etc., even when I told them repeatedly that I wasn't yet in a position to sell. It did them no favours at all. I didn't get this from other firms who also came and did probate viewings.

Had to give one star when wanted to…

Had to give one star when wanted to give a zero.Sharman Quinney is a company to avoid at any cost. This estate agents sign you up for a 6 months contract when other agencies sign you up
for 3months.There is a 14 day cooling off period
which is law.For those 2 weeks there were numerous viewings and an offer which was accepted then after the 14 days the offer fell through as the buyers could apparently not get a mortgage. After that you are in a 6 month contract then the viewings were few and far between.when you chased them to ask them why it hasn’t sold
when other houses in your street were sold with other agencies the lies then started and when the 6 months contract was almost at an end and you told them you would not be renewing it, the property had miraculously sold for considerable less than asking price.months after there was no completion date in sight and endless excuses l removed it off the market.
