Dump with non functional washer, in the boonies
I will try to write this as kindly as possible. When we booked this place the photos misleadingly made it seem like a nice, well kept, spacious place. In fact it is quite small, dark, with cheap curtains, fixtures, and bedding. That said there was a cleaning maid so it was at least a clean dump.
I was willing to adjust on the location (which our taxi cab could not find! Take note), given how nice the place seemed. That said the location was terrible.
When we arrived we were expected to have CASH IN HAND for the place, which may or may not be customary in Italy, however it was not detailed in the email. As such it became an hour long bargaining and logistical process with the middle man. This after several hours on a plane.
Finally, the washer was broken. We had specifically chosen this place because we had been traveling for weeks in Europe and needed to wash our clothes. The middle man suggested we go to the laundromat (just what we want to do on our vacation!).

Much more comfortable living for me than a hotel.
I like living like a normal person in an apartment when I'm staying more than a couple nights away from home. Hotels feel cramped and quickly very cluttered to me...actually depressing after a couple days. Short-Stay The Hague was very convenient, easy, affordable, and actually fun. Staff was genuine and truly pleasant and helpful.
Helpful, friendly and very nice apartment
They provided us with an overall great experience. I would highly recommend them to you!

just love it. close to the metro, nice neighbourhour.
for me is it the place to stay.
Great Service from start to finish
Although the first apartment we selected was not available we were upgraded to a better one at no extra cost. Very helpful reception staff when we arrived and the deposit was returned quickly after we left. The apartment was worn but had character, I would stay there over a hotel any day. All in all very happy.
great location with a basic but useful apartment
We loved the road we stayed in - Amsterdam is beautiful. The apartment was basic with filthy carpet at the entrance and a very basic kitchen, but it did the job.

Great service and better than the pictures.
Used shortstay twice now and was very impressed with the service and the apartments both bigger than the pictures lead you to believe which makes a change i will be using them again if all of you don't book them before me
Excellent service, great properties
Have used Short Stay Twice now, and both times in Barcelona, looking for a third visit again in 2015 and will be using Short Stay. Ease of use online, great range of accommodation types and budgets to suit all needs.
Great apartment, great service, highly recomended
The Captain's Cutter apartment was simply fantastic! The place was small (it is a boat after all) but extremely cosy and the perfect base for a stay in Amsterdam. The staff at the office were very helpful and looked after our luggage for us while we waited to check in which was very helpful. The owner of the boat was very friendly when we bumped into him and gave us directions to the nearest supermarket and also to some local food markets we would never have found by ourselves which really got our holiday off to a good start. The bed was large and comfortable and the cooking facilities while basic we perfectly adequate for preparing basic meals which saved us a huge amount of money. The shower room was very small and cramped but again it is on a boat and it was not much of an inconvenience. I wasn't there to enjoy a long shower but rather to explore the city. Finally the boat was located very near the train station and it was only a short walk into the centre of Amsterdam but still managed to be very quiet in the evenings. If I had visited during the summer I could definitely see myself sitting on the deck (chairs and table provided) either in the evenings or having breakfast.
I cannot recommend this enough.
Amazing city break!
Was reluctant to book something like this online but turned out to be the best decision made. We were a group of 6 students looking for an apartment ideally for our city break in Amsterdam. We stayed in the Herenstraat Apartment and it was absolutely ideal. Felt slightly nervous reading the review of that specific apartment but actually think the review is completely unfair! The apartment is perfectly located with a beautiful interior. Our hot water worked a treat and there was 6 of us and there was absolutely no trouble with the wifi. The only issue I can stress is that we were directed in our confirmation email to the main company desk in the airport on arrival to pick up our keys. On arriving at the desk we were met with a sign saying the main desk was actually closed on the off season (until March) and were directed to Amsterdam town to pick up the keys from the main office. This would've been perfectly fine if the office wasn't miles away from the actual apartment. Prior communication of this would've been preferred. Other than that one issue I cannot think of anything that was wrong with this booking, absolutely delighted with the apartment and would certainly book through this company again!
Great location without the stair climbs!
I would definitely recommend this well designed studio. We made two changes while there. We pulled tables for tea cup up to the bed sides and moved the sofa 90 degrees so as to watch TV. We could see the Riks Musee from our door 3 steps down and found bicycles to rent nearby. Would recommend putting a place to lock up.
great apartment, great location
This was my 5th visit to Vondelpark. Great location and nice apartment. Needs some attention to minor detail.
Kiwi Traveller
Great location, easy check in. Some of the furnishings are starting to get worn. Stain on the couch looked like Alvis in certain lights!
The poor lighting made it difficult at first to notice the filthy coach and chair.
this apartment is in a great location. We walked to the cultural centre with three major galleries. The bathroom was great but the lighting in the rest of the apartment was terrible with no place that had adequate lighting to read. The couch/ futon cover was very dirty and so was one of the upholstered kitchen chairs. We covered the couch with the extra quilt and were able to use the dirty chair to hold a suitcase. We also felt the kitchen / sitting area floor was not very clean. The bedding and towels were clean and nice however. This apartment was one of the most expensive accommodations in our two months of travel, yet it was near to the least satisfactory. These things could have so easily have been taken care of.

Fabulous apartment and great location
Incredibly happy with everything, the only downsides would be the steepiness of the stairs and the noise that could be heard at very early hours of the morning (once the clubs downstairs closed, the bin men started collecting rubbish). Great kitchen facilities (we ate in on most nights), loved the dressing room. Supermarket was not even a 5 minute walk, and it was just lovely to walk along the canals, the size of the rooms for Amsterdam were incredibly spacious and the interiors were absolutely fabulous; I would definitely book this flat again.
lovely stay in a quirky apartment
This apartment is unusual in layout (open bathroom in the bedroom, steep stairs among others) but in a very convenient neighborhood. You will be on a very nice canal, just off the Amstel, near a park, good coffee, groceries, restaurants and the tram, which is quick and comfortable. Amsterdam is a cultural jewel, and the many new and refurbished museums are not to be missed. It is one of the most wonderful cities for walking, so bring your best walking shoes. Short Stay agents are easy to deal with, and if you fly into Schipol, there is a service desk where the keys to the apartment, and directions can be had....a very convenient service.
s
the internet did not work
We stayed in this apartment twice, a month apart. The first time I emailed the rental place about the internet not working and got no response. When I checked in the second time I told them that the internet did not work and he assured me that it did. The only way to get online was to go to the top of the stairs and open the door and sit on the stoop.
This may seem like a trivial complaint, but we were on a working trip and it was most inconvenient.
I will not rent thru an agency again. Only thru a person.

Super value, beautifully furnished
We stayed at the Jordan Laurier 3 bedroom apt which is on the ground floor for 3 nights. Travelled with family with 2 kids and an infant
Location: on a quiet street on Laurierstraat, 5 min walk from the tram, 10 min stroll to Anne Frank house, 15 min to Dam square. Felt safe at night when I was walking home - all in a very good location
Furnishings: Well furnished, fridge has a small freezer compartment that many other rentals did not. Microwave with convection oven, dishwasher available as well. No washer, dryer though. A wall safe is provided which was very welcome as all the other apartments that I rented did not have one. Also a note about the size of the unit: it was big. Very spacious compared to the many European apts I have stayed in. Was great for my family with kids
Toilet: Only one on the basement level! Gotta take turns and plan your toilet going
Bath: 2 with one of the units with a bathtub, very nice but please note that there is no door to the bath! Worked ok for my family though
Bedrooms: 3 - one on the first level and 2 in the basement. The ground level unit did not have an attached bath and no visible heater unit. We later realised that the heating was from under the floor like houses in Canada. The other 2 bedrooms had heaters. All 3 bedrooms had 2 single beds that are movable so quite flexible. It was very new looking but the flooring of one of the bedrooms had warped floorboards which I thought was quite strange. A cot was provided free for my infant!
Communications: Very good staff in the back office which supported me through the booking process. Please note that the price drops fairly significantly as the dates draw closer. If you are not really fussed about the unit that you would like to stay in, you can look for last minute rooms! Also, they were very prompt to reply and I could see that they really tried very hard to accommodate. Kudos to an excellent team.
Staff at the front office: We had to deposit our luggage with the front office in Amsterdam when we arrived (so that we did not have to lug so much luggage back and forth as this was our last leg of our 3 week European vacation). The staff were great about letting us store our stuff for 3 days. We also had to leave our luggage when we checked out as our flight was not due for hours and 11 hours and a late check out was not possible as the apt was already booked on the day we left. The 2 ladies that attended to us when we checked in were efficient but not very understanding about kids and noise. The 2 men that helped us when we checked out were great though and I am sorry that I did not get the name of the gentleman who lugged our heavy luggage to the cab when he saw that we had our hands full with kids and many pieces of luggage! Would like to convey my appreciation.
Charges: Very reasonable given how expensive lodgings are in Amsterdam. E30 for early check in at 10am plus instead of 2pm. Cannot remember the additional charge for a late check out though. They take a E300 deposit from you in case you do not return the keys or damage some furniture. Not sure if I was penalized - need to check!
In summary, there were definitely more great things I experienced with the short stay group in Amsterdam than the small niggles. It would be great to have a washer and dryer in the unit though. I would definitely look to stay with the short stay group if I am anywhere where they have units. Very professional and reasonable.
