Cozy apartment in The Hague for small family

In March 2013, we booked and stayed 5 days in one of the Shortstay's apartment in The Hague. This apartment is about the same price to other hotels, but it offers a nice location and give us freedom and much more privacy, and the well equipped kitchen.Tram station and Albert Heijn was just a stone throw away, It was so easy to book online and the payments was clear and straight forward, no hidden cost at all! The whole process of check-in and check-out are so easy and convinience. i must say that the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. On the last day, we requested late check-out and the staff were willing to wait another half an hour until we finished ours lunch! Overall, if you are looking for a nice and quite and a home feel in The Hague(Den Haag) then i would recommend this apartment. My only advice will be bring more small luggage as the staircase is steep and narrow, common in Dutch houses.

Great apartment!

Apartment was great - very comfortable and spacious. There was a slight odor in the bathroom - found that there was a lot of standing water in the washer that could have been the cause?? It would have been helpful to have more information in the apartment on bus stops/schedules - how to get to train stations, etc. Overall, it was a great stay - very much enjoyed it and would definitely consider a short stay apartment again in the future!

I'm going back in July so that says it all.

It was so convenient that you can check in at the airport. Very friendly staff. All emails were replied to very quickly - even at the weekend. They must be on duty 24/7. They were recommended to me by someone who lives in Amsterdam as my husband smokes and we couldn't find a hotel, which allowed this. We are looking forward to our next trip.

Sweet little apartment

This was a lovely place in an excellent location very near Vondelpark and the museums. It was bright, nicely furnished, and clean. The shower water pressure was not impressive, the sofa bed none too comfortable, and the kitchen not really furnished for more than a very casual meal. (Not even a cutting board, for example.) But overall, very nice.

Overall : Excellently furnished and Modern Flat very near to central station can improve on welcome packs.

Very well maintained and modern flat. Really children did not want to go out as they enjoyed playing inside. Bathroom is spacious and the bath size is European standard with extra leg and body space. Open plan kitchen is good with micowave, oven, dishwasher and utensiles. small kitchen but good for a short stay.Bed room is spacious with wardrobes and wooden flooring. sopha bed is big enough and all the aceesories (bed sheet, duvet, bed protector, blanket) are provided. Towels and cloths are all clean and supplied in many numbers. Please note that the washing machine is outside the flat, and initially we could not locate the washing machine inside the flat and it was not informed.
To improve:
General:
My confirmation e-mail stated that someone from short stay will contact me a week before we arrive, to arrange for the remaining money to be paid and to give the key locker number. No one contacted me and we were nervous about the booking and only after we call the office that they explained that this can be arranged on arrival and there is no locker for the key. So, basically it was old style with a person receiving and let you into the flat. If this is the case, the confirmation e-mail should clearly indicate this to avoid confusion.

Tips
1) We arrived at 7 PM after our train from Brusells was delayed. To our surprise there was no welcome pack ( a couple of tea bags, coffee powder and sugar) which we normally expect. If you can imrove on this will be good for everyone.
2) My wife could not find a grill with the oven. We may be wrong but we could not have grill during our stay.
3) There was no additional bin bags kept inside the flat.

Barring the minor things which are not at all a draw backs but tips to imrove, we really enjoyed our stay in the flat. staion was just 10 minutes walk on the main road. Please note that there is a gentlemen's club just below the flat and if you are there during a weekend, can hear some music all night, but if you like that you can go in and enjoy.

Wonderful place to stay in Istanbul

As a first time traveler to Istanbul, I had no idea where to stay. My college-student daughter is doing a semester abroad and I was traveling alone. After looking at hotel options, I decided to rent a small apartment instead and never regretted that decision for a moment. The apartment location was perfect for walking to various places and accessing the many forms of public transportation. Literally in the shadow of the Galata Tower, the apartment is within a block of many restaurants, shops, a nice little grocery, a fruit stand, and cafes. I felt completely safe at all times and walked daily from the apartment to İstiklal (a long promenade street that has many stores and restaurants), and down the hill to the tourist areas (Galata Bridge, the Spice Market and the Bazaar). The apartment itself was very nice, with a functional Ikea kitchen and a large bathroom with a very nice shower. It was clean, quiet and a wonderful blend of new and old, being in a very old building but redone beautifully inside. The management was excellent and very helpful. I recommend a stay highly and know it will enhance your enjoyment of this wonderful city!

Great Stay

Great location and helpful staff. We had a little problem with a mouse -- which I understand is sort of one of the issues with life in Amsterdam surrounded by water and a fairly old housing stock.

The staff responded immediately even though it was very late on a Sunday -- and made sure the issue was handled and that we were comfortable.

We will definitely use short stay again!

Great canalview and cosy apartment

We had a wonderful time in this apartment, it'spacious and in a great location. Very near to the trams and walkingdistance from shops and other points of interest. Well equiped kitchen, but we also had some wonderful breakfast in very nearby breadshops. The master bedroom has a wonderful view to the canal and it is very quiet. The only difficult thing was using the narrow stairways to carry our luggage to the 2nd floor,..

Ok experience, great location...IRIS 2 North Apartment, Amsterdam

I had a a generally great time staying at the apartment. The location is fantastic and less than a 2 minute walk to the subway. It was also generally clean and correspondence with the short-stay-group was generally very good and prompt. My greatest concern was with the fact that there was a mouse in the apartment (which I saw with my own eyes), and I kept finding mouse droppings all over the kitchen counter and stove in the mornings. When I contacted the short-stay-group, they just told me that I should expect mice in old buildings. They suggested moving me to another apartment but told me there was no guarantee there would be no mice there either. I needed to stay close to the subway so I stuck it out in the apartment but was kept awake at night from just the fear of knowing there are mice running through my room.

Mice exist everywhere. They can live outside, on farms, in the city, in the walls of buildings...but they should NEVER live inside your home and this should NEVER be acceptable. The fact that I had to clean off mouse droppings on my kitchen counters for weeks should never be acceptable and is ENTIRELY unsanitary. The owners are very aware of this concern so I hope they have taken it upon themselves to close off gaps in the room and put out traps so no other client needs to live in such conditions.

The stairs are VERY difficult to maneuver with any luggage that's not a small backpack and are very very steep. If you are used to travelling in North America, these stairs are very much old-school European (narrow footing).

Dear Ivana,

Thank you for choosing Short Stay Amsterdam Locations for your recent stay in Amsterdam.
Please allow me this opportunity to apologize for the inconveniences you have experienced during your stay. Your comments are important to the success of our organization, as we rely on you, our guest, to tell us how we are doing and how we can better meet your needs. We would like you to know we take your review very seriously.

We have started a contract with a pest control company to avoid this from happening in the future. You can probably understand that these buildings are so old that these little creatures can easily access those properties. We are doing our utmost to close off all holes and try not to get them in our apartments. Unfortunately once in a while a mouse can enter a building. We will send the pest control company to the apartment building to do another thorough check up. We are doing everything in our power to get rid of them. Nevertheless we do agree we could have done more for you at the time, for which we sincerely apologize.

We are delighted to hear that the apartment itself was to your liking and that you have enjoyed the location, it is indeed an excellent part of Amsterdam.
It was a pleasure to have you as our guest. We hope to see you again soon.

A good price for the space and the service

Let me talk about the services in general first. I made some phone calls to their UK service line before I decided to stay there: the girl I talked to is really nice and she has a helpful attitude towards me; then I arrived the Hague and I called them to find my way to the flats, and I called them when I found out the shower is not working. All the people I talked to are nice and trying to help.

However, I had an 'amateur' feeling towards them I have to say: the girl I talked from their UK line she knew nothing about the flats in the Hague except the info you can find from the website although she was nice; when I arrived the Hague I had to make 3 calls before I was able to speak to the person who can help and the person I spoke to does not know how I could pay the bus as a traveller; when I found out there was no hot water in the flat I had to make a lot of phone calls to talk to a person again to try and fix it, although they kindly offered an access to the flat downstairs for the same price.

What I am after on top of what they have offered me is a more professional and delicate knowledge towards travellers. Tips to live better in the city are welcome. (I do not want standard info, it should be exclusive!) I need more smiles, more passion when I enter a place that I have never been to.

The flat itself is quite similar to the pictures online except it was a little older and a little darker. I recommend the flat on the first floor although the one on the ground floor has exactly the same decorations. The bedroom is a lot bigger and it feels more airy upstairs. (But I suggest the light in the living room to be changed due to the height of the ceiling, otherwise it has too much interactions with the people who lives there!)

I found the heating was not adequate even I spent time to study the control panel and the radiators, but it was not freezing cold. (It was around 2 degree when I was in the Hague.)

All in all, the experience was definitely better than average, but I really value customer service no matter where I go. Unless you make the flat in perfect condition and it is spotless, otherwise I need someone to help ASAP with the knowledge that I do not have as a traveller. Although I do not wish to talk to the customer services every hour, but once I do, it must be a problem, so I need support and crispy response.

WOW - What a great apartment as a base in The Hague!

My family (my husband and I, with 4 college-age kids) visited The Hague for 3 days just before Christmas, 2012. We stayed at Grand Place I and would recommend it to anyone. We of course wondered if the accommodations would match the photos and descriptions on the website, but it exceeded expectations. The apartment was furnished as advertised and had plenty of space for 6 adults to spread out. There were plenty of places nearby to pick up a few essential groceries and we were able to make breakfast each morning. It is walking distance to all the main attractions and the train station if you want to travel further. Only disappointment was that it was so clod we didn't get to sit outside and enjoy the balcony!

Check in was easy and friendly. We will definitely plan to stay there again when we are in The Hague and look for Short Stay in other cities as we travel.

Good Experience, done twice

The location of the appartament Amstel Studio 4 was great!
5 minutes of walk to be in the city center, also 5 minutes to be at the Van Gogh Musem, House of bols and many others turistic place.
The appartament was really nice, the street was quiet ( no one noise in the night).
You have also a market in 2 minutes and a nice bar practically attached to the apartment.
I advise this appartament to young people who don't like to walk to much and because the center of the fun is just 5 minutes away.

Everything perfect, great service and an affordable option

I stayed in Amsterdam for 2 days with two friends and my mom on Dec. 2012. We all agreed that everything was perfect, nice location, clean apartment and well furnished. We checked in at the airport and customer service was really good. The only problem was when booking the apartment on internet, it took them a couple of days to reply after I transferred the money and they were still asking me to book. But it was just a misunderstanding among staff. We would definitely stay there again!!!

Lovely Luxury apartment, situated close to the city centre.

My friends & I found the Duluxe luxury apartment perfect for our stag holiday in Amsterdam. It was uniquely situated close to the city centre so was within walking distance to most tourist attractions within the city. We didn't need to rent a car or bike the whole trip. We found the apartment in the exact condition as advertised on the web, very clean & modern in deco. Would definitely stay again.

The apartment is very big and comfortable, very stylish, And has all the aquipment you need and more! It's just in the middle of the city- great location, people all around all night but the apartment is not noisy , everything is clean and new,the only downside- there is no air condition but since we were there in February it wasn't a problem
The service of the company is really good- by mail, phone or in person , we went to the office there to take the key and everyone was really nice
