Snorkel Venture Reviews 

My first experience with Snorkel Venture and it was first class all the way. Their pre-tour communications were excellent and the booking process stress free. Even arranging a pre-tour birdwatching extension in West Papua on my request. I had a number of specific requirements for this extension and Graham arranged all of these and communicated everything, perfection!
The full tour was a 10n liveaboard on the Coralia exploring Raja Ampat. Snorkel Venture’s experience and organisation was evident from start to finish, I felt completely looked after. Alex was our tour leader, a clearly experienced guide, he was well organised and a great communicator, his easy charm and humour ensured a happy group. He worked closely and well with the boat directors in choosing snorkel sites and briefing everyone prior to every snorkel.
I would have no hesitation in choosing and recommending Snorkel Venture in the future.

This was our third trip with Snorkel Ventures - Raja Ampat (staying at Papua Explorers) and Misool.

We hoped for lots of fish and other creatures, glorious hard and soft corals and the odd thrill. Got them all! Plus a great snorkel into a mangrove area which acted as a kind of nursery and so was full of baby fish and those archer fish that spout water. It was terrific.

The resorts were excellent.

The guide was Marcus Blake. He combines all that you want from a guide. He was reassuringly competent and reliable, unfazed by any setback and excellent in an emergency (as we found out). But he was also tremendous fun and communicated his joy in the sea and sealife to all of us. He was a great spotter of fish, an underrated talent; all guides, local ones too, can do it but they are not as good as Marcus. His photographs of the group and underwater life are ones to keep (and send to everyone we know).

We plan to go again. We love snorkelling and we like having someone take care of all the travel details; we are confident Snorkel Ventures will provide another great experience.

I am a swimmer who was invited by my best friend to sign up for the Triton Bay - Raja Ampat tour through Snorkel Venture. Dalton was our tour guide. This incredible adventure was transforming and healing to me. I had never traveled to Indonesia before. The only snorkeling I had done previous was a little class a few days ahead of the trip. My lack of experience did not hinder me from seeing the beauty of the sea because there were several resort diving guides that attended every snorkel drop. They would snorkel down and point out creatures of interest. We saw so many different types of Marine wildlife like the whale sharks, manta rays, turtles, reef sharks, even an octopus and hundreds of different/ beautiful types and sometimes odd fish and many types of coral. Dalton, our tour guide, snorkeled with us, checking in with each individual, while he took beautiful underwater pictures to share with the group. I did not have an underwater camera but did not feel left out. He really took great care of us, shared meaningful stories and information that helped us to better understand the environment We were visiting. Dalton created a seamless/comfortable process that helped us reach the resorts without having to do much thinking or stressing and then he made sure we caught the correct flights home which was no easy undertaking. We never missed a caravan, plane or boat. I wish my family could have experienced this amazing tour through Snorkel Venture and met Dalton too.
Oh! The food at Papua Explorers and Triton Bay was amazing! Both of these resorts were remote, clean and surrounded by tropical beauty.

Thoroughly enjoyed our recent Raja Ampat snorkel adventure with Marcus! The sea life was just amazing, and Marcus made sure we saw all of it. Would highly recommend both SnorkelVenture and Marcus! We hope to make a return trip.

Just completed my second trip with Snorkel Venture (Indonesia), and my companions and I are contemplating a third! That's how fantastic an experience the Snorkel Venture team curates, and is also a testament to our tour leader Marcus. Marcus once again was our fearless leader, keeping everything on track and everyone happy! Whether it was spotting sea turtles or nudibranch, or navigating airports, Marcus was the man!

Choice of snorkel locations and accommodations, along with fabulous food are all top notch. Once (or twice or thrice) of a lifetime experiences. Book it now!

Snorkel Venture arranged a 6-day tour in Bali followed by a 2-week snorkel tour in Papua Explorers and Misool. The experience was fabulous beyond words. Every detail was addressed. Our tour leader, Marcus Blake, ably guided us through boats, planes and taxis, made sure we were settled in our resorts, and always put a smile on our faces. We have a wonderful group of travellers. I look forward to seeing them and Marcus again soon.

This trip was an absolutely amazing experience. 3 snorkels a day over 8 days and every site was different and had something unique to offer. The range of tropical fish and beautiful and weirdly shaped coral was wonderful. The Coralia snorkel guides, as well as our fabulous tour Leader, Alex, were great, spotting things for us we would often have missed. Coralia itself is a superb boat run by fabulous hosts, Beat and Desi and their Indonesian crew were so happy and helpful. The cabins are super spacious - I shared a twin with a stranger and we had a ton of room, not feeling on top of each other at all. A great experience all round and worth every cent - I can't recommend highly enough

We recently returned from Snorkel Venture’s Alor / Komodo / Raja Ampat tour. This was our fourth trip with SV, and all aspects of the tour were outstanding, from the sites we snorkeled and marine life we got to see, to the luxurious accommodations. This is what we have come to expect on our tours with SV, and what has made us repeat customers. What we did not expect, however, was for in-country volcanic eruptions to cause massive flight cancellations. While any reputable tour company delivers what it advertises, navigating the unforeseen, is, perhaps, the truest measure of a tour company’s commitment to service. We ended up spending some unscheduled time in Bali. SV arranged for extremely nice lodging, and provided us with local tour options while we waited for flight routes to reopen. We can’t even imagine the juggling act this required of our tour leader, Dalton, both in our presence and behind the scenes, but he managed it all with humor and grace, while keeping us informed as things developed. The way this situation was handled, taking care of us under circumstances completely out of SV’s control, has only strengthened our faith in the company. We can’t wait for our fifth SV adventure, which we have already booked.

We had an amazing snorkel trip to Raja Ampat with Snorkel Venture on the Coralia! The service on our boat was top notch, and food and accommodations were decadent. The snorkelling was fabulous, including swimming with manta rays, walking sharks, turtles, giant clams and many creatures we had never seen before. Snorkel Venture efficiently took care of every detail so we could relax and enjoy. They have brilliant customer service and our guide was extremely knowledgeable. This was our 3rd trip with Snorkel Venture and we will definitely be booking with them again! We highly recommend them!

A great boat with a happy professional and well organised crew.

Bernita and Ben organized and detailed out every aspect of this trip (my first with SV). They answered all questions in a timely manner. Because our trip was interrupted by a volcano, we were not able to go to Komodo. We were actually in the airport, checked in and waiting for our flight, when word came in. Bernita and Marcus (more on him later) were able to secure airline tickets and accommodations in Bali within a short time. We stayed on Bali for a week until we could get back on schedule. Ah, Mother Nature will always prevail. Just have to go with the flow. Regarding the Dive resorts (my opinion, mind you) - Alami/Alor - Nice accommodations, excellent snorkel spots (mola mola, if lucky and persistent) and kind/caring staff. Wakatobi Dive resort - best in service and food. Colorful coral and nice house reef. Misool Dive Resort - best snorkeling (varied terrain, most species and mantas). Best accommodation (water cottage, steps into house reef). About our guide, Marcus, I was going to write a glowing review about him, but someone else already did, taking the words right out of my mouth. Read Karl Kleiner’s comments about Marcus, Oct. 25, 2024. He says it all. I can add only one thing, ‘that’s the spirit’, which is a private joke. Love ya Marcus! Thank you to the entire SV staff for an amazing snorkel experience!

This was our 4th Snorkel Ventures trip. This time toured around Raja Ampat on the Coralia. Like all Snorkel Venture's trips, you are met at the airport in Jakarta and they take care of you until you return to that airport. Ian, our guide, made the travel easy. The 12 days on the Coralia were fantastic. The boat is beautiful, the 22 crew + Ian took great care of the 14 of us. To cap it off, all the guests got along fabulously united by our love of snorkeling. Our next trip with Snorkel Ventures is already scheduled for 2025.

This was our first big retirement trip to Indonesia and we couldn't have been taken care of better. We stayed an extra week on our own in Raja Ampat and appreciated how accommodating snorkel venture and Bernita was in setting up our own special return flight.
Having been there, it was such a relief that all the little things to make a trip run smoothly was all taken care of.
Once we got to Jakarta, Dalton and Asha were fantastic knowledgable guides that stopped at nothing to make sure everyone's needs are taken care of. Dalton has the added experience of being a diving instructor coach and helped me in figuring out my mask and snorkel issues. Both guides took video and phots of our underworld wonderland and shared them with the group.
Misool Resort was fantastic and they too made sure everyone's needs were met and made every effort to accommodate meal choices. The service was outstanding right from meals to boat guides and servers. We stayed on a west beach villa that was very private and gave us some exercise climbing the 112 steps up and down to get to the main resort. When tide is up, a water taxi can be used to get between the villa and the resort. It's hands down the best snorkelling I have ever experienced.

This was our second trip with SV. They take care of every detail of the trip. I love not having to worry about everything. My husband needed an item that he forgot to bring. Asha, our superb guide, called ahead and we had it when we go to our destination. The Red Sea and now Raja Ampat and Wakatobi. All of the accomodations were top notch. The attention paid to safety in the water was also top notch. We couldn't ask for a better adventure that those provided by Snorkel Venture. We look forward to our next SV trip some time in the future.

This was my first trip, but hopefully not my last, with Snorkel Venture. I booked this trip spontaneously two weeks prior to the start date. This is not at all like me. I also had to share a room with someone I did not know as that was the only space available. And lastly, I am not typically a group traveler, preferring to be in control of the details. So I was a little nervous heading in to the vacation. I had nothing to fear!

From my first email to Snorkel Venture, communication was prompt and thorough. Bernita did a great job on short notice sending me all the necessary details, setting up my hotels and inter flights, and answering my questions. Even though my flight was delayed, there was still someone at the airport to meet me. They also have strong relationships with the hotels/resorts they deal with and are able to make adjustments to arrangements as needed. The rooms and public spaces at Papua Explorer and Wakatobi are beautiful, as is the service. The rooms are spacious and easily gave me and my roommate private spaces. Loved the resorts they chose.

And the snorkeling! It is amazing. I have snorkeled around the world and this really is the best snorkeling I have ever done. We had dedicated guides and a diversity of snorkel sites. And the house reefs were also great - especially at Wakatobi.

Lastly, but in no way the least, was our Snorkel Venture guide Asha. Loved her! She was lovely. Very competent, always kind, and fun. When I think of Asha I either see her listening carefully to what someone is saying or laughing heartily. In the water she was always finding cool things and got as much pleasure seeing them as we did. My understanding is that all the guides at Snorkel Venture are great which means they must be exceptional.

I believe in offering constructive criticism where needed. I have nothing to offer in this case. It was a truly magical holiday.

My wife and I just finish our 5th trip with SV. Again Bernita, Crystal and Ben did everything for us. We added on a free diving course and hotels, transportation to and from airport, etc. and they did it all for us. SEAMLESS! Made such great friends on this trip already booked a 2026 trip! For anyone thinking about doing a live a board, the Coralia is a true 5 star hotel on water. A trip for the ages. Thanks for a great month of snorkeling in Indonesia!!

We've been on three Snorkel Venture trips now and I can't say enough good things about them. They really do their homework when choosing partners for Liveaboards and for resorts. They pick the most incredible locations for snorkeling and most importantly, their guides and support staff are awesome. You won't find a better organization for your trip!

This was our first trip with SV and it was amazing from first contact to our return home. Bernita in the office is so helpful in planning your trip and responds efficiently and quickly to any questions you might have. Once we reached Jakarta, SV took over and had every part of the trip planned and taken care of. All we had to do was show up. Misool Eco Resort is incredible in every way!! Our water cottage was amazing with steps straight into the fabulous house reef. Each day was perfectly planned based on ocean conditions with at least two snorkeling sessions every day where the diversity and health of marine life and corals was nothing less than mind blowing. The resort staff in every area are competent and amazing-everyone knows your name! The food was extremely plentiful and delicious. The resort snorkel guides were knowledgeable, helpful, humorous, and always knew what the water conditions were and the best places to go. Our SV guides Asha and Dalton were incredible in every way. Their planning and guidance on land were impeccable and their snorkeling skills and underwater photos and videos were excellent. They were a joy to be around at all times. I am convinced this is the best snorkeling in the world!!

I just returned from my third trip to Indonesia with Snorkel Venture, this time to the fantastic Misool Eco-Resort. All I had to do was make my way to and from Jakarta, and SV expertly took care of everything else. Bernita, tour consultant with SV, did a marvelous job of coordinating every detail for the trip and was in constant communication with us regarding internal travel, visa requirements, useful information about Indonesia, and even a suggested packing list. Our SV tour leaders, Asha and Dalton, were terrific individually and as a team. They were attentive to our every need; they enthusiastically shared their knowledge of the reef, free diving skills, and underwater photography; they coordinated seamlessly with the resort’s staff; and they’re both personable and hilarious.
I most highly recommend Snorkel Venture — in fact, I’ve already booked trips in 2025 and 2026 with them!
