Hired tower scaffolding. Delivery and pick-up went well. One or two components showed sign of wear but it did the job fine and could be erected by one person. Price was good for the project.

The staff at the Carlisle branch were excellent especially John the on-site fitter. I had a problem with the chipper and needed to return it for repair. This was done immediately and John couldn’t have been more helpful.
However, I would struggle to recommend the chipper itself. No fault of Speedy hire, but the smaller machine (Camon C50i) is not really up to the job. It has plenty of power but relies on being gravity fed which doesn’t work particularly well. You need to spend most of your time pushing the branches down the hopper. Anything slightly bent will not go into the machine due to the small cutter aperture and narrow hopper. Hornbeam hedge cuttings are out of the question as although small enough, they are too spread out to fit down the hopper. Green pine fronds just clog up in the hopper because they are too light to be gravity fed. Overall, I would recommend Speedy Hire but could not recommend the Camon C50i - at least for my purposes anyway

Frustrating having been told each day it’s being collected and each day it isn’t. Blocking deliveries but Customer Services just lying each time.

Friendly and helpful advice prior to hiring equipment. Friendly staff too

All the staff were extremely pleasant and exceptionally helpful. As a new customer to this organisation I was really pleased with their manor and I told them what a good experience it had been in comparison with other similar organisations where I was looking for information before buying, or in this instance, hiring equipment. Mixed review incoming but happy ending.
So I needed a drain camera.
Talked to a lady on reception who’s one burning life question is “do you have an account ?”
The second you say no she goes into can’t be bothered mode. She is literally the reincarnation of little Britain's computer says no lady.
BUT it does get better!
I managed to get to a chap in the survey department called Marcus, what a difference! This guy cares in fact he cares so much even when he knew his stuff was too industrial for my needs he helped me find an alternative chemical product. The guys lovely to talk to and refreshingly helpful. You never know what the future holds but I learnt a long time ago you treat customers as units not a value. You never know when someone is going to be your next big thing.
So Marcus don’t change, keep winning the hearts and minds of your customers and maybe give the lady on reception a few tips in how to be friendly and helpful

Take payment for hiring equipment they don’t have on site! Called and asked if I could pick the equipment up from another city.
Don’t take payment for things you don’t have in depot!
Then I had to chase them for a refund.

Excellent service. I needed to hire 8 radiators to heat my 91year olds father's house after he forgot to order oil. The excellent service was friendly and efficient. Thank you .

What went wrong......well where do start!
Picked up a generator this morning from the Peterlee branch. The husband commented it looked battered and was advised they "have a hard life". We are self employed and our generator was away for repair so booked this for 1 week at a cost of £170 which states it includes fuel. Got to my 1st job and the generator doesn't start after over 30 minutes of trying i checked what I needed to, no oil in it......the fuel was at the minimum level and had dirt in.....I had to then leave a job to buy both oil and fuel to even see if
it would start, also realised the spark plug was filthy black, so cleaned that too, all delaying and appointment my customer had paid for. I sharply returned this to the branch and due to your failures i have had to cancel a week of appointments as this was not fit for purpose, this piece of machinery has never obviously been maintained, this whole experience has caused an inconvenience to myself as a business owner, my customers have been caused distress as they own caravans that now their annual Services won't be adhering to the warranty requirements as appointments can't go ahead.
I am out of pocket not only for fuel and oil but cancellation of jobs, myself as a customer should not need to Service your tools while on hire to myself.
I am writing this in the hope management will see this and be in touch to discuss as a matter of urgency.

A business with good staff ruined by very bad tech. I had a frustrating and time consuming experience today trying to hire a platform. The staff at Trafford park were helpful on the phone but couldn't help because all orders had to made on line. I opened an account which took 15 mins and then found the item couldn't be delivered that day, I called back to be told it was likely they had it but to change the date and he'd fix it manually - really good service. I did this an got the item into my basket this time, only to be told at the very end of the checkout process that it wasn't available. I reckon 30-40 mins wasted. I called someone else local and had it done over the phone in 2 mins. A quick exchange of emails giving delivery details and ID and it was all sorted. Which is how it shoule be done.

Staff are good, Web site is the worst you need to employ a decent web designer.

Good all round. Staff helpful on collection and return of the carpet cleaner and the cleaner performed perfectly and did a good job. Will definitely use again when the time comes. Just wish they would open on Saturdays!

As a business we use Speedy regularly. Dean, who is currently covering the Galashiels depot, has been so helpful and always gets hire items to us asap. Thank you Dean, we appreciate you.

I've been a customer of Speedy Hire for several years, but I've found that returning hired tools requires extreme vigilance. If you're not careful, you may face excessive charges and even threats of legal action. In my experience, some depots have been less than honest and refuse to acknowledge disputes—likely due to internal targets. To protect yourself, always insist on a return reference (which they don’t readily offer), document all interactions, and keep thorough records. If possible, seek legal advice when returning tools, as unexpected charges can quickly add up.

I’ve never dealt with a more unprofessional company than Speedy Hire. They’re obsessed with pushing you to their online portal, which crashes or lags 99% of the time. If you have the misfortune of needing to contact their customer service, make sure to copy at least 10 people in your email and send another 10 follow-ups, and you’ll still get no response. But they’re super speedy when it comes to hitting you with extra charges.

I am at my wits end with these people. We hired from them last year and have very much come to regret it. They delivered the incorrect piece of kit which cost us a day of work. We arranged to get it back to them as soon as we could and hired a replacement from elsewhere. They told us on the phone apologies etc and we obviously would not be charged. It turns out the third party speedy had outsourced to still wants to be paid. Here we are many months later and god knows how many phone calls and I am still being chased for that bill because of that subcontractor. So with speedy beware. They subcontract to people who can turn up with the wrong equipment and that will be seen by Speedy as your issue to resolve not their's despite you not having done business with those people! If there is a dispute between those companies they will drag you right into the crossfire. The resolution process is absurd and we are heading into legal action now.

I contacted the Grimsby branch regarding some gas monitors that required calibrations and was put through to Marcus Ormston, he gave me clear advice on what was required and the time it would take,
I then delivered the monitors to the branch and met Marcus, he was an absolute gem to talk to and completed the required jobs earlier than expected,
