Products not as described + Poor customer service

I'm not going to bother mentioning any positive aspects of my experience dealing with this company, as they don't outweigh the negatives.

I bought ten packs of cookies described quite simply as "vanilla flavoured cookies with white chocolate chips" and that's what I expected to receive. However, upon trying them, they were what can only be described as "lemon flavoured".

I contacted the company about them not being as described and feeling misled into buying them. Their response demonstrated such a poor attitude to customer service that I felt compelled to write this.

Any other retailer would've accepted that I had a legitimate problem and sought to find a way to resolve it. We're only talking about £5.90 here. But, no, not them.

What I imagine they did was go and find one of the 500+ packs of these cookies that they have available, tried them, and realised that I was right about them being "lemon flavoured". So, being unable to deny that, they rolled with them being lemon flavoured and instead suggested that I ought to have known that they would be lemon flavoured because "lemon oil" was right at the end of the ingredients list after everything else, including salt (the order is important on food labels). And that because they dug deep into Google recipes after I mentioned having looked up "New York Cheesecake" on Google myself and having found nothing to suggest that "New York Cheesecake" was anything but cheesecake flavoured, found a recipe that included lemon zest. I bet if you're so inclined you could eventually find a recipe with a sprinkling of cocoa power or cinnamon too, but these variations wouldn't change the top results and consensus among those answering the question of "what flavour?"

They suggested that receiving lemon flavoured cookies instead of the "vanilla flavoured cookies with white chocolate chips" I paid for was merely a case of me having "changed my mind" and told me that I could return the nine unopened packs (at my own cost) for a refund (maybe, only if they were deemed to be in resalable condition). The cost of packaging these cookies up in a smaller box and having them collected by DPD would've cost more than the £5.31 I would've (maybe) received back, so obviously there's no point in me doing that.

Despite the obvious counterproductiveness of this way of dealing with it, I did offer to make the cookies available for collection by DPD if they were willing to pay for it. They declined. Because they know that it's not worth it.

So, now the transaction is being disputed by my card provider. I can see now why they didn't offer PayPal as a payment method, as there's just no way that they're willing to resolve problems and wouldn't want to ease of PayPal disputes to thwart that.

If I had truly "just not liked" the cookies, I'd have just let the £5.90 go. But, as this is actually a case of the cookies NOT BEING AS DESCRIBED, I am quite willing to fight them to get this £5.90 back for as long as it takes. It's just disappointing that they're willing to sacrifice any repeat custom from me over such a small sum, and were fine with this review being written too, all so they could hold onto £5.90.

It's obviously a problem that the manufacturer and/or whoever they bought the cookies from misrepresented them, but that's a separate matter and something that they should take up with them. My contract is with them alone and I paid for ten packs of "vanilla flavoured cookies with white chocolate chips". They're responsible to put this right. Just as they would be if items in my order had got damaged during transit. This is the problem here. Regardless of the specific problem, there's just a complete denial of responsibility.

Now that I'm having to resort to fighting them for the £5.90 back with my card provider, there's just no way that I would buy from them again or recommend them. Now I know that if any other unexpected problems occurred with orders, they'd just take my money and run.

I am absolutely delighted

I am absolutely delighted with my recent order. It took only a couple of days from ordering for it to arrive! Not only was it insanely quick and ridiculously cheap but it was packaged very securely and with care. I will 100% be ordering from here again and have already recommended it to family and friends.
