This will be a bit of a lengthy journey - very little of which is in the car. I really didn't want to spend even more time chasing the car up but I feel it's now necessary to go via yet another avenue.
Keep in mind the irony of me pushing a purchase through for a more reliable and safe car for my family of 6, driving to and back from the airport for our family holiday and a disabled child. From an old 2011 plate 5008 to a nearly-new one.
30th June - Car ordered - a 2025 5008 with just under 5k miles on the clock.
Tuesday 7th July - After a slight delay due to human error not ordering in time, the car arrived and I very happily drove my almost new car away. Everything was fine, with a few runaround trips and visit to the beach with the 4 kids planned for the weekend.
Saturday 11th July - 50 miles later - came off the motorway and fault alerts start coming up on the dash.
I'll keep this part short, but 4 hours later RAC confirmed it was an electrical fault and not safe to drive (ECU/VCU). I couldn't lock the car, so I couldn't leave it.
As we are a family of 6, no onward travel advice or offer beyond the RAC van - but that would be only me. We had to catch two trains and 3 hours of travel.
14th July - After what was lot of stress and some back and forth with the dealership, they did lend us a 408 in the interim. This is one of the small silver linings as it meant I could get to work and pick the kids up from school - something we couldn't do for a few of those days. However, it doesn't fit all the kids in. That's why we bought a 7 seater.
This wasn't initially offered either, and I felt this needed some pushing on the phone to get.
15th July - Car was diagnosed and confirmed it was a faulty VCU. No ETA for delivery but was told it's usually 7-10 days.
22nd July - I spoke to the Manager to get an update, no ETA, part needed to be "made for the specific VIN". But it would hopefully arrive the following week and be fixed for when we returned.
23rd July - Peugeot Care called me (after I had put in an earlier complaint about the fault) saying the part had been delivered and they were closing the case. A recurring theme that the dealership didn't call me.
24th July - I returned the 408 as we were going on holiday from the 25th.
Rented a 7 seater from Enterprise which cost just under £300. Manager did say they would cover the costs.
The service staff I dropped the car off said the part should be with them on the following Monday 27th July, not the 23rd.
The hope was that the car would be fixed by the time we returned in 2 weeks. And even mentioned about getting the car to the airport as a potential option.
ZERO communication or updates until it got to the 5th August, but I'll keep the dates chronologically.
*30th July* - Part was attempted to be installed but the code to pair it to the car (even though it was made for the car?) didn't work and they needed to get direct support from Peugeot HQ.
*5th August* - Car was again "in the shop" and an attempt to connect was tried again but it was unsuccessful again. "Up to 72 hours for a response from HQ" meaning I had to fork out return transport from the airport. All rentals were sold out, so we had to get a transfer - and another £220.
5th August - I called servicing from my holiday to get an update and if we needed to find alternative transport - And I was updated with the previous steps.
It is now Sunday the 9th July, the car I had for 3 full days before breaking down and being undriveable has been with the dealership for 30 days.
At almost every stage of aftersales, I have had to chase. There seems to be absolute minimal empathy or compassion for a family of 4, the time spent, the stress on a nearly new car.
I get that faults happen.
But we're now back from holiday, with the summer break ahead of us, no ETA on the car, no alternative transport, no updates, no car and now over a hundreds out of pocket.
I will return to this next week after I've called them again to get an update on what's happening. And there'll be two simple options.
1) Get me another vehicle. Like-for-like, rental, alternative used, hell a new one. Just a car that I can actually use to take my kids out during the holidays.
2) We cancel the purchase, based on the consumer rights act, it being with the 30 day return and the dealership attempting to fix the vehicle twice.
It'll leave me without a car, out of pocket and probably stuck due to the lengthy process in a refund.
The sales process was great and I do believe the Manager has gone above and beyond.
But communication overall has been shocking. Aftersales, even Peugeot Care and the complaints follow-up, has been the worst, long-lasting and something I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Update 12th August:
Failed installation repair with no ETA, no alternative and no call from the dealer.

TONI HEAL - Maidstone
Toni made my wife and I very welcome from the moment we stepped foot in the showroom. She is very friendly, knowledgeable and not pushy in any way whatsoever.
Toni kindly took my wife and I for a test drive in a B10, this was a great experience. I would highly recommend Toni to anyone interested in buying a new car.

Worse experience ever at purchasing a used vehicle. There was so many things wrong with it none working heater bad gear change going up hills automatic full beam doesn’t always work some days it does some days it doesn’t. Was told need to book in with Nissan to have a look at it under warranty. So had to wait nearly 3 weeks for this so driving car in the freezing cold with no heating no demist, they wouldn’t give me a replacement car.
This vehicle was driven from there Leicester branch to there Maidstone branch so lots of the faults should have been noticed.
Nissan flush heater but still don’t thing it’s working properly they also did a system update but still has intermittent faults.
Aftercare is terrible they got your money then they don’t care if you have problems.
I have a car that took 3 years to save up for it and hate driving it due to intermittent faults.
Can’t sell it as would loose to much money.
A very unhappy customer

Impossible to get through to service dept. Had my van cannot get an update on progress and no one in service department answers the phone you get through to a voicemail they never ever call you back. Eventually got through to central call centre. Guess what they couldn’t get anyone to answer a phone, said they would leave a message to call me back. Guess what no one did. Avoid this dealership at all costs simply not enough staff to cope. Had to wait 14 days to get it booked in. Wish I hadn’t.. buying two new vans next year it certainly won’t be Peugeot and especially this dealer. Not what you would expect from a main dealer who are obviously running on a shoestring staff
