A Bitter Disappointment!
The pictures of Speedwell accommodation in Southwold looked great. The reality was the cottage was an mis-mash of furniture shoved together. The foot stool, magazine rack were broken.my husband sat on the foot stool and it collapsed. There was thick dust on the skirting boards and other areas. There was an unwashed, filthy saucepan in the cupboard. The back door didn’t open which stopped us from accessing the bins, in addition to it being a fire hazard. The patio table was green with mould and the owners had the cheek to leave us a note asking us to use coasters on it to avoid leaving marks!! Most of the drawers had the owners stuff in, including letters etc. The wardrobe in our room was built into the wall. There was a 3 ft drop and if any clothes fell off a hanger it was almost impossible to reach. We found an old walking stick ( yet more junk) that helped us scoop the item up. The lights in the lounge flickered and the TV was so small we had to move furniture around so our friends could see it.We went into see the people in Suffolk Secrets. They barely looked up when we went in. We weren’t offered a seat and the looked like it was a regular occurrence for people to complain. We explained all our problems and they asked us to email them details and pics. We are still to have any response despite emailing ( 3 weeks after holiday). There are NO phone numbers to call and basically they don’t care. They take your money and will never get back to you answering any queries and complaints. The elderly couple, who were next door said they spent a day cleaning their cottage - oh and yes, they too were with Suffolk secrets! Even the bin man confirmed to us he’d heard how awful they were! Stay Well Clear!!,
On the day of writing this Suffolk Secrets got back to me and apologised. We were also promised a 20% refund which we were amazed to hear as no- one else seems to have had any refund. I appreciate this gesture, but it’s a pity I had to write this review to get the attention and apology I have been waiting weeks for.

The Hatchery - wonderful!
The Hatchery was an outstanding holiday home for us. We had the most enjoyable time, walking around the grounds, family dinners inside and also dinning outside, making use of the hot tub. It was all exquisite.
We came with our elderly parents, who were able to enjoy the house to it’s fullest, as everything they needed was on the ground level.
The house had everything and more you could hope to use on a holiday stay. Our hosts were so accommodating and on hand when needed. We would be delighted to stay here again.
Well equipped Victorian cottage
Well equipped Victorian cottage. Lovely town with lots of interesting places to visit.
Very nice and clean home in a amazing location
Location, cleanliness and very kind owner.
Clear and Timely information
The website was clear and the communication was timely. We had emails updating us as the time approached for our holiday, and texts also.

Living area was spacious and perfect for everyone to be together. Kitchen was fabulous with everything needed. Bedrooms were suitable for needs with clean linen and towels. Just be careful on the stairs as they are a falls risk.
Great cottage
Great cottage, very comfortable and so well equipped. In a great location for visiting Suffolk and a lovely village pub 5 minutes walk away. What more do you need ?
We stayed at Low Tide apartment
We stayed at Low Tide apartment, Aldeburgh, sadly the accommodation didn't match the description as advertised. Old, tired, uncomfortable furniture, I don't think using garden furniture in the living room is acceptable!! Strong smell of acrylic in the apartment throughout. No where comfortable to sit and relax indoors and the bed was very uncomfortable and hard.
We even left a day early as we simply couldn't bear the thought of another evening/night there.
If the description of Suffolk Secrets had been honest we would have booked somewhere else instead.
We understand the response from Suffolk secrets but are very disappointed by their attitude, the property wasn't as described, so they couldn't suddenly have changed all the furniture to make it comfortable as per description if we had made contact.
A lesson learnt to not book through them again as we couldn't be sure where we stay would be what we were lead to believe it to be.
A very poor attitude to customers who booked in good faith but were let down.
Having written this review almost a month ago and seeing the response from Suffolk Secrets I have to say my opinion hasn't changed, despite their reply saying I would be contacted by the Complaints team, I have heard nothing!! Hardly a surprise, but don't make promises you don't intend to keep Suffolk secrets, nit a company we will ever use again.

Perfect location from which to explore…
Perfect location from which to explore the peninsular. Ideally situated from those who like to explore the rural area on foot. Very accommodating hosts who were always available to respond to any queries. We highly recommend this accommodation to others and will be visiting again when we next go to Suffolk.
Lovely base to come home to after days out exploring Suffolk
This was a cosy, well supplied and brilliantly set out cottage. Kids loved the property, games, DVDs and animals at bottom of garden. Facilities were well thought out with 2 fridges which helped with drinks and food for 7 people. Plenty of seating areas and amenities. Really enjoyed our stay.
Sterile and Unwelcoming feel
The lack of rugs made the place feel unwelcoming and very UN FINISHED

Trustworthy Company
Have booked several times either with Suffolk Secrets or Original Cottages. Always found the staff helpful and quick to resolve issues (not many happened). Descriptions are accurate and cottages of a wide range of prices and sizes to suit all pockets. Will definitely book with them again
Disappointing
While the property was in an ideal situation and cosy it was unfortunate that we were told at short notice that the washing machine would not be available to use and no offer or attempt was made to rectify this despite the property being at a premium cost.
The Suffolk Secrets information pamphlet has a rather unfortunate officious "tone" of you must do this and mustn't do that, perhaps a more friendly manner conveying the same information would be more welcoming.
