I visited the BMW Peterborough branch…

I visited the BMW Peterborough branch to view the new iX3 after building it online. I wanted to see the quality in person before placing an order. My husband and I walked in — not dressed up, but certainly serious buyers — and not a single member of the sales team acknowledged us. We spent over 20 minutes looking around the car with zero interaction or offer of help.

What made it worse was watching an older couple walk in after us and immediately get greeted enthusiastically with “How are you? How can we help?” They even said they were just browsing and killing time. Meanwhile, I was genuinely there to spend over £70k.

Was it because I was a woman in a pink jumper and leggings? It honestly felt like stepping back 20 years. I ended up going home and ordering the car through an intermediary instead. The car itself is beautiful, and I’m looking forward to receiving it in December — with several extras that would have earned someone a very nice commission.

Very disappointing experience from BMW Peterborough. Don’t judge a book by its cover !!!

This is the worst car dealer I have…

This is the worst car dealer I have encountered to date. I inquired about a vehicle and explained my previous bad experiences (and there have been multiple) with BMW very clearly. They assured me that this time would be different. We arranged a part-exchange with additional funds for the finance; I paid the deposit, signed the agreement, and prepared my car for the exchange.

The week after I paid the deposit for AF22YBX, they claimed that extra bodywork was required on the car which would leave them at a financial loss. They told me they would have to "get back to me" to decide if they would even continue with the sale. I was shocked—I had already paid the deposit, signed the finance documents, and prepped my vehicle. I was promised a same-day response but was ignored from Tuesday afternoon until Thursday afternoon, despite calling multiple times.

When I finally spoke with the manager, David, I reminded him that I had tried to purchase an X4 three times in a row and had been assured there would be no mishaps. He explained that they would be at a loss, and if BMW sold cars at a loss, they wouldn't be in business. I rebutted that they also wouldn't be in business if they took deposits, signed contracts, and then withdrew because they failed to perform basic due diligence on bodywork repairs before listing a product. The issues—a cracked windscreen, paintwork issues, and boot damage—were all easily noticeable at a first glance. I received no offer of compensation despite being ignored for two days. When I pointed out that the signed contract is legally binding, he essentially claimed that the lawyers who drafted the contract likely ensured the dealership wouldn't lose out or face problems in such cases.

Due to the distress and friction caused by this communication, my mental health suffered. I eventually stated that I would accept the cancellation of the car sale if they still followed through with the part-exchange of my car as originally agreed, so as not to cause further problems. I even noted that I would refrain from leaving a bad review if they treated me fairly on that point. The manager stated that the cancellation was fine and mentioned that he had already had a 15-minute conversation with "higher-ups" to cancel the sale anyway. However, when I brought up the part-exchange again, he responded, "Oh, that... we won't take that in; there is nothing we can do with a Mercedes," essentially leaving me stranded after I had already prepared my vehicle.

Throughout the conversation, there was almost no mention of compensation. When I stated that I wasn't trying to create friction, he responded by saying there was "no need for bad blood." I have done nothing wrong to BMW. A friend who listened in on the call noted that the manager made it sound as though we had "inconvenienced each other," when in reality, they inconvenienced me greatly. I am now unable to follow through with the part-exchange at the agreed price. I am tired of BMW and intend to escalate this because I am completely unsatisfied. This has been a terrible experience; they seem to forget that these are £30,000+ purchases and should come with a professional level of service.

Here are list of violations that have occurred:

Breach of Contract: Under UK law, the "Hire Purchase Agreement" became binding the moment it was signed on March 12, 2026.

Consumer Rights Act 2015: Traders cannot use "unfair terms" to hide behind "loss of profit" to cancel a contract after a consumer is legally bound.

Consumer Protection Regulations 2008: It is a prohibited "misleading action" to agree on a price, take a deposit, and then attempt to increase that price once the customer is committed.

Consumer Credit Act 1974 (Section 56)

Lack of Professional Diligence

Paid £100 to reserve an approved used '24 plate car for 48 hours at Sycamore BMW Peterborough, only to be told the next day it had been reserved by somebody else 24 to 48 hours earlier.

Despite the fact there's no option online to reserve for more than 48 hours, I was told this other customer would be coming in to see the car in the next 24 to 48 hours — giving him somehow up to 96 hours. The salesman was noticeably hesitant when asked exactly when this other customer was coming in.

Then the sell: "My manager could give you a phenomenal deal on a new one!" Turns out that'd be £27k more

Bait and switch? You decide.

📢 Extremely disappointed...

📢 Extremely disappointed with my experience at @bmwmotorrad and Sycamore Motorrad Witham.

📅 Reported a coolant leak in June 2025. Was told the earliest booking was end of July due to no technicians. After being away in August, I booked for 2 Sept.

Since then:
❌ Missed deadlines
❌ Poor communication
❌ No courtesy bike until last minute
❌ Complaint ignored
❌ False blame put on me by dealer

I have written proof and expected better from the BMW brand. Still no goodwill or accountability.

Max and Tom, made the whole sales process seamless. Very knowledgeable and clearly fans of the brand which made the whole transaction pleasurable. They are both a credit and I would go back again and again thanks to those two

This company just can’t be bothered. Returning calls is something they just can’t manage! This is the third occasion for me. Talking to a member of the sales team and asking for him to take responsibility didn’t even work. Just didn’t want to know. I am finished with Sycamore BMW!

Recall Work Done Well

I took my 18 year old car in for a recall - they treated me like I’d brought in a much newer car that I’d bought from them. Polite, professional and helpful throughout. I’d heard (and seen) horror stories of other dealers causing lots of damage during the recall work, I cannot fault anything, it was easy from booking to collection.

Beyond happy

I ordered my M2 from Sycamore in October 2024. The vehicle was due to arrive mid March 2025 but it arrived early in February 2025.
David Luff was really helpful, supportive and kept me updated through the process.
I am beyond happy with my dream car and the customer service I received.

I recently purchased a BMW motorbike at Sycamore Motorrad Peterborough, and I want to express my gratitude for their exceptional service. The team at Sycamore Motorrad provided me with an outstanding part-exchange value for my old bike, which was far better than I had anticipated. Their professionalism and expertise made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. I can strongly recommend the team at Sycamore Peterborough.

Great cars and spectacularly good sales team.

Visited to connsider a new or used BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. Martins Grinvalds was exceptionally positive in matching me with the right car/deal, with every possible amount of patience. He listened and the final recommendation was a great deal. Unfortunately, due to some awkward personal circumstances, I was eventually unable to complete the deal. Martins was completely supportive and understanding of the changed situation. Cancelling the deal was done very sympathetically and with the ground laid for another try in a few months. Truly outstanding experience, wholeheartedly recommend. Thank you Martins!

This is a review for Sycamore Harley…

This is a review for Sycamore Harley Davidson dealership Uppingham England .
Just thought I would leave my comment of how shoddy your service is at your dealership . This is my honest interaction I received Saturday 20th April. 3 weeks ago Having booked in for a 10,000 mile service after approx. 30 mins later I received a call regarding an issue they found .
Went back to the dealership trike was on the ramp and I was shown the oil pan which had a crack from the bung .
Mechanic said he cant renew oil because of the crack this happened at the dealership and not by me , cant prove but I know it .
I was advised that a new pan would be required but what would I like to do have new pan fitted or take it elsewhere .
I was 40 miles from home so had to leave it there part was ordered.
Didn't receive any update or phone call almost 3 weeks later only after I called them for an update (Saturday 20th April ) I went to collect my trike .
After getting a return call Friday 19th April
Totally disgusted with Sycamore my trike was brought in spotless they offered it back to me with grease marks over the Chrome and grease marks over the paint work .
They did remedy that issue but it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place .
Paying a £946 bill
Oh and to cap it all off the reverse doesn't work when it did before I let them carry out work on my trike .
I requested that the cracked oil pan be given back to me , been promised i will be sent by Courier also the 10,000 mile service tick sheet .
Now I have Triglide Trike that doesn't go into reverse
NO WAY WOULD I recommend taking anything to this dealership.
Steer clear.
update .. I have now been in Touch with HD head office Europe /UK I have sent photos of the cracks 3 in total to them .
I have been to 2 separate places to ask their thoughts on the damage to the pan Both said that would have been done at that dealership .
This dealership's attitude is disgraceful ,I did receive a call from their service manager Blar blar blar offered a free valet , and they would take a look at the reverse issue and if I trusted them for a future service he would offer me a preferential price ??
I don't think so my Trike would never see their doors again and I would suggest others do the same .
BEWARE

Worst BMW dealership we have ever used…

Worst BMW dealership we have ever used never had such bad service ever. You take your car in still almost new and they say it was your driving for parts falling off. You go to pick it up after a week and find other damage then they say it was already there which it wasn’t. Why didn’t you mention it when asked they draw a blank it wasn’t us. Save your money and go to another dealership not this one

Loan/courtesy car fuel scam??!!

In my experience do not have a loan/courtesy car if offered!
My car was recalled, I booked it in hesitantly, as difficult to be without a car with 3 children, only to be advised by BMW sycamore I could get a loan/courtesy car. After booking my car in & taking out the loan car I was advised I had to replace any fuel used (obviously!). I took note of the fuel to re-fill gauge (139miles) & the level of the fuel on metre (3 bars)
I happily went about my day, I drove approximately 49 miles. Before returning to BMW Sycamore I filled up the car with £10.50 taking it to 159 miles to fill up & 3 bars, after checking before leaving the garage, happy that I had more than covered my costs. On arrival at the garage and checking in the loan car I was advised (embarrassingly) that I was short of fuel by 6 litres, I asked how this was the case having checked by all means that I could that I had covered costs, only to be told that the system said it was so I should take it back to fill up the remaining 6L or I’d be charged £15 from them for the fuel..I explained I had my 3 children in the car & I believed I had replaced the fuel I had used but that made no difference. So off I went to re-fill an extra £9! Therefore my 49 miles costing me £19.50! For a recall I hadn’t asked for & the inconvenience of fitting it into my life! On my 2nd return to the garage I gave my feedback explaining that I was extremely disappointed with the service & why. The receptionist was very polite. But the guy who told me I was 6L short was rude! & conveniently not around when I returned a 2nd time. Unfortunately this experience has left a ‘bad taste’ & I will not be using the garage for the work they advise to be completed on my vehicle! (100’s of pounds!) I will also not recommend the garage or service..far from it!

Dave-service floor manager =useless

I took my bmw in for a recall on the airbag not a problem but also whilst it was in I ask them if they could find the issue of the vibration I had with the car too, long story really short I had the driveshaft replaced and a few other jobs that needed doing costing me an arm and a leg, and was told the vibration would stop after that. Yea you guessed it NOPE still there a total of 3 times it went in for this vibration to be told it was my automatic gearbox on its way out this was told to me by the service floor manager dave, with that info I took to looking at replacing it as I love my car only to find out that automatic gearboxes don't vibrate before they go!! This info was told to me by 2 other people 1being just a village garage 🙄
So if you want your bmw looking at don't bother with sycamore bmw the service manager dave is pants at his job considering he road tested my car everytime too

Good service from motorcycle parts

Ordered a disc lock from the motorcycle parts department over the telephone. The parts advisor knew the part I had asked for and advised it was suitable for my bike.
I ordered the lock yesterday and it was delivered today.
Great service, well done!
