We visited Northampton Sytner Select to view a car we’d seen advertised online. We were surprised at the vast stock onsite. A sales advisor assisted us with viewing the car we were interested in and took us for a test drive, at which time we pointed out the service indicator was showing the inspection was 4700 miles overdue. We were informed the car had been serviced onsite and they had probably failed to reset the indicator, however that it would be done on the MPC/PDI as we had agreed to purchase the vehicle and were driving it away the same day. We were handed a basic service print out and the Sytner Select oil service report .
The car was quickly prepared and we drove it away a few hours later, which was a bank holiday weekend .
The inspection light came on again after returning home.
On the Tuesday I contacted my local Audi dealer to confirm the service history was correct, however the 4700 miles overdue inspection was actually for the s-tronic gearbox service. I had been misinformed by Sytners. It was actually an important overdue service. I contacted Sytners to complain as their website states the below:
“All vehicles will receive a Sytner Select 135 multi-point inspection. All vehicles will not require a service for at least 3 months or 3,000 miles”
I was advised on the phone they don’t service gearboxes or change the oil on stronic or dsg and they wouldn’t have known it was needed. However I advised I’d made one simple call and was given the correct information by Audi straight away. They are the trade professionals so should have more knowledge and ability to check than a retail customer!!
So basically the information on the website is very misleading as they only cover engine oil services, nothing more, so be warned.
Now I need to spend an additional £600 + to get the gearbox and haldex oils changed .
Sytner offered no form of resolution or compensation for the above.
I feel very disappointed and mislead by their sales team as the information provided was incorrect.
I would avoid this dealership if you want transparency and to avoid additional expenses that will leave you out of pocket.
