Delay and extra payment not worth it

I paid for an item 2 months ago, no communication about delay. Then a message from DHL that import duty needs to be paid. It would have been cheaper and faster to order elsewhere. I very much regret shopping at Tattahome.

We are sorry to read your message, however we would like to clarify an important point.
You have not paid import duties, but UK VAT, as clearly specified on our website.
For orders shipped to the UK, prices are shown without VAT at the time of purchase, because the goods are exported from the EU. UK VAT is then collected locally by the courier (DHL) upon import, in accordance with UK regulations.
This has been the standard procedure since Brexit, therefore nothing has changed recently. All EU retailers shipping to the UK follow the same process post-Brexit.
We understand that additional payments at delivery can be frustrating, but this is not an extra charge from Tattahome — it is the UK VAT applied by your local customs authority.
If you need any further clarification, we remain at your disposal.

Sadly

Sadly, the item was ordered in November as a Christmas present, but finally arrived towards the end of February. In addition, the price that seemed attractive was impacted by nearly 1/3 of the cost again in import duties.

We truly regret that the delivery did not meet your expectations, especially considering the item was intended as a Christmas present. We understand how disappointing it must have been to receive it at the end of February.
Regarding the additional costs, we would like to clarify once again that what you paid was UK VAT, not import duties. Since the UK is no longer part of the EU following Brexit, goods shipped from Italy are exported without EU VAT and UK VAT is collected at import.
This means the price initially appeared lower because it was shown without VAT, and the VAT (currently 20% in the UK) is then collected by DHL on behalf of UK authorities. It is not an extra charge from Tattahome, nor an additional “1/3 cost” in duties, but simply the local tax applied to all imports into the UK post-Brexit.
We always specify on our website that UK orders are VAT-excluded at checkout and VAT is due upon import.
We are sorry for the delay you experienced and for the frustration caused. If you would like, we can review your specific order in detail to clarify the timeline and any charges applied.

Expect to pay duty and taxes on top of your order!

Be careful when buying from this company, especially if you are not based in the EU - they are not transparent about import duty and import tax and they DO NOT send their goods DTP (delivered taxes paid), you will have this added at customs which can make their prices significantly more expensive than might initially appear. Also their despatch time is unnecessarily long; they took over three weeks to pack and send ceramics I bought in Feb 2026 and there was no communication during this time to let me know what was going on. You'd be forgiven for thinking they'd forgotten or lost your order. All in all, poor admin and transparency, I will never buy from this company again.

First of all, we do clearly state on our website that orders shipped outside the EU (including the UK) are sold without EU VAT and that local VAT is payable upon import. This has been standard procedure since Brexit.
We do not hide this information, and we do not add any “extra” charges. The VAT collected by DHL is charged by UK customs authorities — not by Tattahome. Many international retailers operate in the same way and do not ship DDP (Delivered Duties Paid), especially for design and made-to-order items.
Regarding dispatch time: the ceramics you purchased were not in stock and had to be ordered from the manufacturer. For many design brands, production lead times can vary, and February is often a busy period for Italian manufacturers. Three weeks for non-stock ceramic items is within normal production timelines in our industry.
That said, we do acknowledge that communication could always be improved, and for this we apologise if you felt left without updates. That was certainly not our intention.
We are a long-established Italian company shipping thousands of orders worldwide every year, and transparency and reliability are extremely important to us.
We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and wish you all the best for your future purchases.

I believe this is really bad practice and they should not be able to get away with holding onto peoples money four weeks after confirmation of a refund.

I placed my order with this company on the 21st of January and receive my confirmation as normal. Then I received Emails which said that I would have to pay import tax and VAT on this product and it would not be sent to me for six weeks. As there is a 10 day cool off period on the 27th of January I informed them that I no longer wish to purchase this item. I received a confirmation email on the 27th January that my refund would be issued and this was no problem.
I am still waiting for my refund onto my credit card and it is now the 28th of February. I have sent them numerous emails and I’ve been told that my payment is being processed and last week they said it would be this week that I would receive the refund.

I still have not received my refund on the 28th of February. This is terrible customer service and show no respect for people’s rights

As confirmed in our previous communication on January 27th, the order was cancelled within the cooling-off period and the refund was promptly initiated from our side. Once the refund is processed by us, the timing for the amount to appear on your credit card unfortunately depends on the banking system and the card provider, which can sometimes take several business days — and in some cases longer — to be fully reflected on the statement.
We have already confirmed that the refund procedure has been completed from our side. If the amount is not yet visible on your card, we kindly recommend checking with your card issuer, as they are able to track the transaction on their system.
Of course, if you need any additional confirmation or documentation of the refund transaction, we will be happy to provide it.

Awful!

Ordered a tap that was advertised at 3-4 weeks for delivery & had to wait 15 weeks! Had to constantly chase for updates rather than being informed of the delay. Will certainly never be using this website again!

Very slow shipping

Not clear the total cost if you buy from UK, between 20% tax and DHL managing charges

Not clear the total cost if you buy from UK, between adding 20% tax to the product price and DHL managing charges (fixed extra £11.00) beyond the delivery price
The seller should check per country of destination and advise properly, as taxes percentages are fixed per country

Great if you’re happy to wait a long time for delivery

I ordered two items that I really wanted but couldn’t find anywhere else on the internet in the colours I wanted. I found them at Tattahome. I read the Trustpilot reviews before ordering knowing that I’d be ordering from a company based in Italy and not the UK. I realised I would need to allow extra time for delivery. In the end I chased my order up twice, I got polite responses saying my order would take 4 weeks to get to them and then I would be notified by email when in turn it would be dispatched to me. I ordered on 26th December 2025 and received it on Tuesday 17th Feb. I was so happy to receive it. It was well packaged. They look great. Only grumble is lack of updates… I thought I’d been scammed at one point, if they’d been up front and said it would take 2 months to get to me I wouldn’t have been concerned. In the end I’m happy as I received my goods in perfect condition but if they’d been time critical (a gift) i’d have been a bit upset.

Easy site to use delivered on time only thing is it says on the site that there is no import charge for items under £135. I purchased a toaster for 113 and still had to pay the driver £38 import duty before it could be left with me

Avoid- no item after 3 months and no refund

My order (pumpkin le creuset pot) had still not arrived three months after placing my order. When I asked about my order 4 weeks and 8 weeks after ordering i was told it would be sent soon. I am now trying to get a refund and keep being promised it will be sent but have not received that. i would avoid ordering from here. if i hadnt seen some postive reviews of items arriving, i would think this was a scam.
