Voucher Expiring in March – refused to extend
I’m another disappointed, cross recipient of a gift voucher which expires in a few weeks. Whilst we received a polite, prompt reply from Nandeep Vyas, the company would not extend the gift voucher expiry date even under the circumstances of the past two years. I would not use this company again, ever, but Companies House website does have the company details and, interestingly, those of the directors.
So disappointed and cross .
So disappointed and cross .
Purchased gift token for friends in Menorca which expired in Dec 2021
Contacted the company to request extension as theatres have been closed for most of the jars 2 years .
As reported previously - extension refused as “contravenes terms and conditions”
No amount of logical discussion would change their mind. Request for manager escalation has been ignored.
Unlike so many other companies who have agreed to extend vouchers to keep customers.
I am a nurse who has worked throughout the pandemic and feel so disappointed that the very theatres who have benefited from my clinical care ( in A and E in central London) are not prepared to provide an extension.
I will not use them again. It is almost theft .
Very poor experience
I have had a very poor experience unsuccessfully trying to convert a two year credit note which expires in May 22, issued at the beginning of the pandemic, into a refund. For most of its validity theatres were closed. Then serious illness turning my partner into a vulnerable person and prevalence of omnicron meant travel to London and theatre visits were not a good idea. At the very least the agent I have been dealing with needs retraining in how to deliver clear and effective communication, demonstrating empathy and how to avoid being patronising and condescending.
Appalling customer service
You can tell how good a company is when you are not happy about something and how they respond to this.
I have bought from Theatreticketsdirect (TTD) a few times previously and had no problems - until I had to deal with customer service, when I couldn't believe what I was reading.
I'll keep it brief as most people are like me and skip through the essays.
Having had to deal with customer service (the individual named in other reviews), within approximately 3 emails I was accused of lying, being offensive (I said the word "stupid" for the way s/he was dealing with a customer) and planning to attend the theatre having had a positive Covid test
Then the Coup de grasse that confirmed I had to write the review.
The individual then quite astoundingly attempted to intimidate me by saying that if I were to post a bad review it "breaks the English law as per the link above". The "link above" being the terms and conditions of using TTD. S/he must be quite stupid to think the terms and conditions are the "English law".
Please avoid this company - there are plenty of others out there, unless of course you are prepared to accept the above when something you are unhappy about occurs.
Voucher Query
Nandeep Vyas assisted me in a query and was incredibly prompt and helpful. Fantastic service.
Very rude and arrogant customer services agent
The person I dealt with regarding a cancelled show appeared arrogant, rude and to have very few customer service skills. When I asked for clarification of what appeared to me to be quite confusing and contradictory information they told me I wasn't reading their emails properly and implied I was trying to get more from them than I should be expecting. When I asked for their patience as I am not as familiar with their policies as they are and am struggling to understand it (the emails were all also quite poorly written so hard to read anyway) I was treated as if I was somehow wrong (or stupid!) to have not understood. When I finally played back what I thought I was being told after a very frustrating conversation and asked for confirmation that this was correct, I was told:"the first email sent to you initially itself answers all your questions if you read it carefully." Quite astounded really by this level of arrogance, rudeness and uncooperativeness from someone supposedly in a customer services role. We have vouchers with them that were given as a gift so will use those when we can but I won't be going to them to buy tickets or vouchers again. There are plenty of other companies doing the same thing that I am sure have better attitudes towards their customers.
DO NOT BUY VOUCHER DO NOT TRUST FEEFO DO NOT USE!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
COLD, BLUNT REPLY ON VOUCHER EXTENSION REQUEST.
Voucher was given as a birthday gift just before the pandemic and as a recipient of the voucher how am I supposed to know the terms and conditions of the voucher as I did not buy it? Also, any customer-centric company would have extended the voucher with zero issue due to the pandemic and the uncertainty of the entertainment industry. If you are not customer-first and not kind, you WILL NOT be in business for long. End of story.
"Our vouchers are sold with Terms and Conditions attached to them, stating that they need to be redeemed before their expiry date, which means no extension of validity period can be granted under any circumstances. There has always been a wide variety of shows on sale on our website and vouchers can be used for any future performance currently on sale.
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you any assistance at this time and must reject your request for an extension. "
YES, UNFORTUNATE FOR YOU.
Excellent
Excellent. Had a great time on what was a very special night for us. We will certainly use you again.
Thank you again.
Great Company to deal with
Great Company to deal with. Nandeep was a great help to me in making my booking. Thanks so much.
AWFUL - DO NOT USE
Due to the pandemic we have been unable to use a £50 voucher that was bought for us by our grandchildren. When able to do so, we politely asked for an extension of the expiry of about a month in order to book something suitable. We were told, in no uncertain terms, that this wasn't possible and basically to check the Terms & Conditions before making such requests! However, I still can't find any reference to global pandemics amongst their T&Cs.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY HEARTLESS AND KEEP CUSTOMERS MONEY
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE HEARTLESS AND KEEP CUSTOMERS MONEY. IF I COULD I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THEM ZERO STARS.
In March 2019 my friend purchased a £75 voucher for my 60th birthday as she knew I wanted to see Les Miserables.
I booked my tickets along with the additional cost for my husbands ticket and cancellation insurance of £6. Unfortunately the date I had chosen was at the beginning of the first lockdown. I then rebooked for October, which of course had to be cancelled too.
I was given the opportunity to have my voucher reissued and a refund for the additional ticket I had purchased, this I did.
However, the expiry date on the voucher was still March 2021 and the web site wasn’t showing any dates for Les Mis. I contacted the company and after several emails was told I could book any of the shows they were offering at anytime before the expiry, but they weren’t booking for Les Mis. In addition my husband and I were both shielding.
I requested a refund for my voucher as I was able to book my tickets for Les Mis directly with the theatre for February 2022, something Theatre Tickets Direct were unable to offer and something which was previously on offer when the voucher was purchased and intended for. I was told that they couldn’t extend or refund vouchers.
In May and again at the end of July I wrote to the company asking where my friend’s money has gone? I stated in my second letter, which I sent recorded delivery and which has been signed for that I would expect a reply within 14 working days and if I didn’t receive a reply I would be contacting BBC Watch Dog and Rip Off Britain, something I would urge others to do if they find themselves in this situation. It is now 1st Sept and not surprisingly I’ve heard nothing. I have contacted both programs.
Most companies have treated customers with respect at these difficult times, but I have since looked at the reviews and it seems I am not alone with 47% of reviews being bad or poor all saying the same as me. They are treating customers appallingly.
In my opinion this company are keeping people’s money and taking advantage of the terrible time we have all been though.
A rip-off before and after covid
I was given 2x substantial vouchers as a Big Birthday present. No chance to use them in the last 12 months because of the bug. And now they have expired and the company won't extend them. I almost used them at Christmas 2019. But the tickets to the Christmas Carol at the Old Vic were so much more expensive bought through these guys that we spent actual money instead. A rip-off every which way.
Awful customer services intent on ripping off customers
The company refused to extend the validity of a voucher given as a gift, despite the Covid19 pandemic. We booked another show many months in advance, and when this too was cancelled the company refused to issue a refund for nearly 5 months, blaming the theatre and claiming the issue was with them. I had to contact the theatre directly, who confirmed they had provided refunds to all third party resellers months ago and told them to issue full refunds.
On top of lying and trying to trick customers out of their money, the customer support via email was rude, aggressive and patronising. Avoid these scammers.
Wasted gift voucher
I was given a substantial gift voucher for this company pre COVID and then became stuck abroad until after the expiry date for this and they refused to offer an extension despite shows being closed for months. In fact their response was actually quite rude. I won’t ever use this company again and don’t expect any support from them if you run into extenuating circumstances.
Thank you :)
Very good experience. Tickets were emailed in a few minutes of booking. We had a small confusion with our meal vouchers, but it was clarified very well by the customer support. Food was just OK, but the show was great.
My grandparents were given tickets for…
My grandparents were given tickets for a special occasion to use by august 2020 and for obvious reasons due to the pandemic and also shielding due to being vulnerable they were unable to travel up to London safely. My Nan recently emailed this company to ask if they could have an extension or even a partial extension on some of the money of the tickets and were told categorically no. I think this is a disgusting service and I will never use this company again myself and will ensure I let people know just how bad they are.
Bought tickets to a show but Covid…
We bought tickets to a show but Covid ruined everything. I though our money was wasted but they were kind enough to issue us a voucher instead, so that we could book any show we wanted when the theatres opened. thanks allot. definitely recommended.
Happy Customer
Had to change a ticket that was non-refundable and non-transferable due to COVID, and the customer service Rep was super helpful in getting it changed for me. Happy happy customer.
Quick hassle free refund process
I’m impressed with the communication and efficiency of Theatre Tickets Direct. When my show got cancelled, I received an email telling me that my refund would be processed within 3 working days. My booking was paid partly by voucher (which since expired) and partly by credit card. I got my cash refund as promised and my voucher got extended by another 2 years.
"Your Voucher is Out of Date - so Tough!"
We had a voucher from Theatre Tickets Direct and were concerned about using it during COVID. A month after the stated expiry date they refused to accept it or offer any flexibility. What is the term for taking money from someone and offering nothing in return? Legalised 'xxxxx'? I note that Ireland has changed its legislation to protect buyers, and gift voucher expiry was 'played with' in the House of Lords on 22/1/2020. Having read Hansard it was not a debate as such, clearly some Lords don't care about the individuals they're supposed to represent.
My advice - give people cash and a nice card. Avoid this lot like the plague.
