High Bank, Porlock
We had a great stay in this lovely property. Beds were comfortable and it had everything we needed. The small garden by the stream was a perfect place to relax.

Lovely peaceful visit
Lovely peaceful visit, beautiful views and comfortable bed.
Superb cottage
Great service as always from "The Best of Exmoor" team. Linhay Cottage near Withypool was superb; a quiet location and very well equipped. The owner called up the day before to cover any questions which was nice. The two local farmers were very friendly and helpful.

Absolutely amazing place. The location is out of this world, peace & tranquility. The views are stunning. The actual pod, Never have we stayed in such an amazing one. The attention to detail, from washing up liquid to flip flops if needed. We bought all our stuff as normal when we stay anywhere like this, didn’t need them. Cleaning products, tea, coffee, milk on arrival, biscuits, books to read, even a torch & hairdryer. There was nothing left out. Sophy is a lovely lady who comes a greets you & her dogs will to which we absolutely loved. They were no trouble atall (not allowed in the pod though) which is understandable. We feel refreshed & so chilled. Will definitely be back.
THANK YOU Sophy.

Very quiet and relaxing with all the home comforts you would need a week away to unwind and recharge your batteries from lifes challenges. The bunk beds are very comfortable and the shower was very powerful. Ali is very friendly and helpful. I have had an amazing week and would definitely recommend.
Great location, lovely house.
Great location, easy walk into Porlock to shops, pubs and cafes. The house was very well equipped, especially the kitchen, lots of utensils, crockery etc. Accommodation was exceptionally clean and the garden was large, private and a great spot to sit out in especially as the weather during our stay was really warm.
We would certainly return and highly recommend Plum Tree Cottage.

Our family had a wonderful holiday in a lovely cottage in a perfect location. We have already rebooked for next year. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
A time of sanctuary
This is a beautiful , well equipped and immaculate home away from home, set in the most glorious landsape. Our hosts Tina and Sean were friendly and helpful and extremely respectful of our space. I'm most grateful to them both. This has been a real time and place sanctuary for souls.
We had a great holiday and the company had good comms
Hi, I'll split this in 2. The Company and the Holiday.
Company - generally they have been great, they are a small company, their comms were good and generally professional. The only slight negative was that we booked via a cashback site and the money back was rejected. It was a bit of a faff to find out why and it seems that there was an issue with a promotions company The Best of Exmoor worked with and it wasn't their fault i.e. they weren't offering cashback, but it hadn't been removed. They were apologetic and did a very good job of explaining the situation. I would also recommend them and book again. But hence going for a 4 not 5 star review (I feel a bit mean, but as a process I can't say it went quite as I would like).
Holiday was great, my review on their site...We had a great stay. The location is very peaceful, but also v close to the pretty town of Lynton/Lynmouth and the North Devon/Somerset coast.
The house layout worked well for us, the bedrooms are secluded and comfortable and the new bathrooms were appreciated. It's an old house, but it is clear the owners are trying to keep it updated and modern, with large TV, new bathrooms etc. There is a huge main room which is great for socialising, but a smaller 'snug' if people want to go somewhere a little quieter. The kitchen is well equipped and off the lounge so you all feel together.
Recommend you look in the house manual for things to do, it tipped us off about Lee Bay Beach, which was great (but do go at low tide)
This is a beautiful cottage
This is a beautiful cottage. The views are absolutely stunning. It’s very well equipped for if you want to stay in and so comfortable. Very clean and well kept. There is a lovely pub within a 5 minute walk although the hill on the way back gets the heart pumping!
Beautiful location
Beautiful location, quiet and lovely secure garden for the dog and sea views :)
Excellent stay at St Anthony's Cottage
Fabulous view across the channel to Wales, and lovely accommodation with a huge private, enclosed garden.
Loved the area and the pubs/restaurants/coffee shops in Porlock Weir - only a couple of minutes walk down the hill.
Nearest large supermarkets are in Minehead, though there are a local SPAR and One Stop in Porlock Village itself, which is a short drive away (possibly walkable - 30 mins to an hour depending on mobility).
Roads are very narrow in parts with no pavements, so would not recommend walking on the road to Porlock, but it is possible to reach via a bridleway through the woods.
Plenty of space for two cars to park off road in the cottage's own private car park
Definitely looking to return next year.
Super comfortable
Super comfortable, extremely clean and very well equipped. Lovely tranquil spot, can’t fault it.
Best of Exmoor very helpful and responsive
It is difficult to put the experience…
It is difficult to put the experience into words, because we cannot find words for these superlatives!
We experienced incredible hospitality and wondered if we had booked half board?
We were welcomed with a gift basket of local specialties, homemade scones! Wow, wow, wow!
The place was built with so much love, even an architect would be in tears for this beauty!
If you are looking for a special location, you will be happy to cycle the few miles and be rewarded with the best hospitality, peace and nature!
Our 5th visit
Your Review:
The fact that this was our 5th visit to this property and we intend to book again for 2026 really says it all,. Apart from the fact that the bathroom is on the small side, there really is nothing you could find fault with the cortage. All amenities are close by with the harbour less than half a minutes walk, and the cottage is fully equipped with everything you would want for your stay, is clean and tidy, with a dining table, two comfy settees, TV, WiFi and Amazon Alexa
Praise for The best of Exmoor and Elthorne
The Best of Exmoor communicated really well. Elthorne, its views and owners deserve high praise for providing a clean and comfortable stay where we felt welcome and valued. We have no hesitation in recommending this house and would love to return

We had a wonderful stay at Pebble Cottage. The cottage is very well equipped, has extremely comfortable beds and a very efficient shower. The weather was gorgeous so we’re were able to enjoy the lovely garden. The cottage is only 5 minutes from Dunster village which is beautiful and has numerous cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Charming Cottage - beautiful location
A charming cottage in a beautiful quiet location. We particularly loved the garden with the bubbling stream through it. Loved our summer evenings in that spot and made for a memorable stay.
