Awaiting the rest of my order not heard anything. The lockdown maybe to the cause for no communication but it seems unfair. Have been a satisfied customer before.

I ordered on 22February and on April 7th had an email to say books were dispatched and to track with Hermes, but there was no tracking no. No order received as yet. I find it so frustrating as I get no replies to emails and I wait and wait to get through on the phone but don’t succeed !
I appreciate that they are busy and I admit that there has never been this sort of problem before. They have been a pleasure to deal with , until now.
I wish all the staff well in this awful time and will just wait a little longer. A shame it has had to end this way.

Ordered in february got my order a week ago. Long wait and was frustraiting thinking the order wont be processed but it was. Well worth the wait. So sad to see u go Book People :-(.

Half my order arrived today after 8 weeks, I ordered on March 1st other half due tomorrow. Books and art supplies are really fab.and ever so cheap, I would gladly wait longer for such bargains.

I ordered on the 24th or Feb! Emailed dozens of times after being told to wait ten days for delivery, for one reply that all orders were being sorted. Then still nothing. Checked the website which then said a further two weeks. Emailed again with no replies. Waited and waited, emailed, checked the website but they had shut it so I couldn’t check my order, the delivery status or even to try and cancel. Gave up and left it. Finally on the 24th of APRIL I got a email saying it was being sent and on its way to us. I still had no hope but on the 25th my full order finally came. I got so much stuff for just £20 and although frustrating and terrible costumer service.. I am happy with my order and so are my little ones now we are in isolation! Have patience (I know it’s hard!!) but I’m sure your order will come

Ordered on the 16th March and not heard anything since, they have taken my money though.....
No reply to several emails, I have definitely given up on this company after reading these reviews 😓

I ordered a book in Nov 2019 and the book I got was totally wrong, the delivery sheet was for someone else. I have called, emailed and messaged on Facebook with no response, it’s now April. Just awful company and this was prior to covid 19.

Ordered on 11Mar, arrived today. But only received 2 parcels out of 3. Not sure if there is problem with delivery company. Given the price I paid for, it’s really very good value of money and it’s worth the wait. I always like the book people and sad to see it goes under. I still have another order placed on 25 Mar so not sure how long it’ll take to arrive.

I made a £70 order on 29th February. Although I had no reply to my two emails. I called customer services this morning as I was worried reading this that lots of people who have ordered after me are receiving their parcels. The lady on the phone was lovely and assured me my order was still there and being processed and it will be with me asap. Although it’s cost me more as I’ve had to go and buy a birthday present that was in the package, I am assured it will arrive.
Not very impressed with the fact they took the money before dispatch as it makes me worry more but hoping it will arrive soon.
Just remember these people on the end of the phone and in the warehouse are extremely busy in a difficult time and won’t have a job in a few weeks!

Placed my order 3rd March, arrived today 23rd April. It should have been 4 weeks delivery, but at last it arrived just over 7 weeks. I was a little concerned about the length of time as my daughter received her parcel in 5 days, and ordered 3 weeks later than me. I phoned 4 weeks in, and received reassurance that the items were in the warehouse and I just needed to wait. It took a while to get through to them, but they were friendly and helpful. I waited longer than I was going to, and I’m glad I did. They are a marvellous company, and it’s such a great shame they have to close. Thank you for over 20 years of fantastic books and deals.
Patience is needed especially with the world as it is at the moment.

I placed an order on March 20th, they said it would take a month to deliver which I understand with everything going on but still no sign of it. I have emailed both customer care and the invoicing email addresses and no reply back, again I understand with everything going on its a difficult time but at least let me know if I am still getting my order or if I should just contact paypal to try get a refund on this!!

Just like everyone else who placed an order to benefit from the Sale I had starting to worry about my delivery. I was poised to give up and try claiming the cost back off my credit card. BUT this morning I had an SMS message from Hermes and my parcel arrived a few minutes ago.

Have patience - they will get to you I'm sure ;o)

I placed a order on the 3rd of march for £125.00. I was told it would be 3 weeks for delivery. After 3 weeks no show. I rang them and was told it would be 4-7 weeks. Yesterday i looked at the reviews and got slightly worried.... This morning i got a text to tell me it would be delivered today between 2pm and 6pm by Hermes. I tried to track it but no luck.... How ever at 4.30pm the doorbell rang and there it all was. I'm very sad to see The Book People closing down having used them since they first started. One very happy but sad customer

You WILL get your orders, please just be patient! I placed three huge orders back in February (19th, 21st and 25th). I have now received two of my orders with the third on the way.

I know it’s very frustrating, I often thought about just getting a refund and even contacted TBP and PayPal about doing so. However, I decided to stick it out and will have all of my orders by the end of the week.

Please have faith - they have always been a brilliant company with hard working staff. Considering the current circumstances with administration and Covid-19 it’s a miracle that they are operating at all. You will get your orders, just give it time. 😊

So far it's not looking good! I ordered the 28th Feb, at the time was 14 days delivery, then 4 weeks then 7, well over now, heard nothing since 4 weeks when I contacted them to ask for an update and they said that I would definitely have my order by 7 weeks but if I wanted I could 'try' and get my money back, I chose to keep my order as I've always trusted the book people but now I'm wondering if that was the right thing to do as it doesn't look promising that I'll actually get my order

Ordered 12th Feb and recieved 12th March.
Was concerned as didn't hear much from them and had read really bad reviews but I'm glad I had patience!
The books were all fab and great 😊

I placed several orders in the final sales. I keep getting them one by one. 3 more to go. The free delivery is VERY slow. Yes they kept changing the expected delivery times. They had hundred thousand orders... Obviously that changed everything. In addition there came the COVID which makes them even slower (they have to keep distance from each other, make sure to avoid sharing items in the warehouse etc.) I use another webshop and they detailed every security measure they had to take in their warehouse because they became a lot slower as well altough they didn't even have unusually many orders as they had no SALE, let alone this crazy sale thebookpeople did. Now pair the slowing effect of the COVID with a huge boom of ten thousands, a hundred thousand new orders because of the crazy prices. No wonder they kept extending the delivery times. It was unexpected. Staff numbers were already reduced. The rest of them has to work in a slowed down way. And they got a huge number of orders, like a number they usually get in whole year or something. They ARE sending the goods. What I ordered with 48h delivery they always dispatched the same day. The free delivery is another story. That takes a long long time. I got one from two MONTHS ago, and it had everything it, even books that sold out two months ago, right after I grabbed them. They do have the stock and they work on fulfilling the orders. It's just the slowest dispatch time ever...

Ordered over 8 weeks ago now £40 as lots in the sale i work in a school ordered for little goodbye gifts to year 6, i am so unhappy that delivery keep changing from 3 , 5, then 7 wks -

then i get an email after 7 weeks to state dispatched all items - but no tracking and it keeps stating awaiting parcel so it has not been dispatched,
they took the money straight away - i know i won't ever get the goods they don't answer any emails and phone cuts off when called
(any idea how to claim money back if i contact my bank ? )
very disapointed as have been a loyal customer for years this feels like robbery shouldn't of taken orders etc

I placed my order in Feb and when i placed my order, time to deliver was still 14days.. However things changed and delivery was 7 weeks. After several call... Finally last week my order was Shipped after a lovely lady at their customer support said she will follow up with ware house manager and my order got dispatched on same day. out of 3 parcels just received one. I am still waiting for other 2. So i guess, surely you need to wait 7-8 weeks and we need patience. I had totally given up hopes but glad atleast i have received one. 2 more soon to receive!

Also if you try calling the customer support - Please be patient and you will surely need to wait 5-20mins .. I have always managed to get hold of them

My order placed on 1st march has been dispatched with expected delivery today. It has been 7 weeks like they said but this is due to being in administration and covid-19. They ARE fulfilling orders and the timescale is what they have said.
