I bought a £75k Range Rover only to discover the car had been involved in an accident on the passenger side front end even though the hpi was clear. The bumper and front wing had been repaired very poorly even by a £2k car standards. Before i went to collect the car i asked Tim the owner of The Car Barns multiple times if it had any issues, any dents or even small scratches and repeatedly lied by saying NO, the car is in perfect condition. He did not disclose the accident or any of the faults the car had.
When i collected the car, I didn’t see the repair because it was a grey and rainy day. I discovered the repair next day after i had collected the car, went to a professional workshop to confirm and so they did. I contacted Tim asking to return the car, he refused to take the car and came up with all kind of excuses and contradictions, even accusing me of having had the accident and repaired it all within 48hrs of purchase. BIZAREE CHARACTER! He also told me there were no technical issues but the sensor parking sensor on the accidented part of the bumper did not work. Reverse camera was faulty, one of the wheels was mat and the other 3 were gloss, rear entertainment has a broken plastic cover, yet he told me the car was perfect. DO NOT TRUST A WORD THIS MAN SAYS! DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS MAN OR FIRM, BUY ELSEWHERE EVEN IF YOU PAY MORE. YOU ARE GARANTEED TO HAVE ISSUES WITH TIM. READ THE OTHER PEOPLES FEEDBACK! IF YOU DO BUY A CAR, USE A CREDIT CARD SO YOU CAN CLAIM BACK ANY DAMAGES. HE CANT CHARGE YOU A FEE FOR USING A CARD ITS ILEGAL! If he threatens you legally, ignore him they are all empty threats, a tactic he uses all the time. Currently liaising with Trading standards and my lawyer because i can afford one but if you cant, don’t feel scared by his legal threats. Get everything in writing whatsapp email. You can get free lawyer from citizens advice bureau.

If customer service is important, I suggest you look elsewhere.
The Car Barns certainly polished in the pounds to the Jaguar XFS I bought in September 2021, but failed to provide the correct warranty paperwork or information about it at the time of sale, and then provided ZERO customer service thereafter.
Tim Boler of The Car Barns was very swift to answer my initial enquiry about buying the car, but was absent at the time of purchase leaving everything to Charlie, who was obviously out of his depth. No warranty paperwork was provided other than a "let us know first before taking to a dealer" piece of paper and confirmation of the warranty duration (which SHOULD HAVE BEEN shown as 6 MONTHS and NOT the 3 months as in the advert), which I insisted he wrote up and gave to me.
At the time, I was advised that the problem with internet connection to the sat nav was the need to have a subscription for the service. For 2 months I tried to resolve the fact I could not make this work and called Jaguar/Landrover many times and eventually booked into a dealer to resolve. I was advised it needed a replacement module at a total cost of some £500. I kept Tim Boler of The Car Barns and his team informed all the way through this process via phone messages, emails and recorded delivery letters none of which raised but 4 words of response from The Car Barns.
IT TOOK 2 MONTHS to get ANY meaningful response from Tim Boler at THE CAR BARNS. Only when I suggested I may need to take legal action against The Car Barns did he reply and said this item was NOT covered under the warranty and that I had NOT FOLLOWED THE CORRECT WARRANTY PROCEDURES . . . . . . . . well, I had sent at least ½ dozen communications over a period of 8 weeks, so The Car Barns had had plenty of time to let me know what the correct procedure was!
It was only NOW that Tim Boler finally sent me the IN HOUSE warranty paperwork. Were The Car Barns just trying to play for time until the warranty had expired?
Despite being advertised as a COMPREHENSIVE WARRANTY, reading through the paperwork, almost ZERO of things that will actually go wrong with a complicated modern used car IS covered.
As I stated, IF customer service is the slightest bit important to you, I suggest you look elsewhere.
Second key and service history
I purchased a 3-year-old Mercedes from The Car Barns in January 2021. The service history was not mentioned in the advert, but I was told by the agent Graham Ulyatt that The Car Barns car had just serviced the car and that, as with all newer Mercedes, the service history would be recorded online. I was also told on collection (with no warning in advance) that the second key had been lost, but that The Car Barns would cover the estimated £250 for a replacement and this was noted on the invoice.
I was not able to check the service history or purchase a new key until late March because the new registration documents were delayed due to what The Car Barns said was an ‘administrative error’. Once the registration documents arrived, I was able to speak to Mercedes who told me that the car had never been serviced. I asked The Car Barns to explain and after much pressing was emailed back a receipt for the ‘service’ they had done which was simply an oil change.
I arranged for the required service to be completed and bought a new key, at a total cost of £924.44. I emailed The Car Barns with the receipts and asked them to re-imburse the cost. I again had to send a number of emails before I received a reply and was eventually ‘offered’ a payment of £560 to cover the cost of the key and a contribution to the service. I reluctantly agreed to accept the offer provided the payment was prompt.
After a further 6 weeks I have not received any payment or replies to my emails chasing the amount due.
This is my experience of The Car Barns and hence my very low rating.
Bentley purchase
Purchased a vehicle from The Car Barns and could not be more impressed with how they conduct business. Graham was extremely professional and left no question unanswered. Would highly recommend this company.

It took me a while to find the M4 that I wanted, let’s face it parting with money is never easy. However after speaking to Tim I felt at ease in my decision and comfortable that it was the right car for me.
Upon arrival the team we’re very obliging, the car was immaculate and the test drive every bit I imagined it to be. From start to finish the process of acquiring the vehicle was easy. No needless sales pitch or underhand sales techniques (which I can’t stand) just genuine honest advice. Needless to say I did part with the money and I’ve never looked back.
