Battery replacemnt resulted in a broken phone

Got a battery recal notification from Google for a Pixel phone, and went here without thinking too much. Unfortunately for me, a simple battery replacement resulted in a broken phone. No one even called and let me know until I came to the shop the same day.

It has been several days, and despite all promises, I don't know where or what happened with my phone anymore. They can't give me any information when I call.

At the end, it appeared to be a miscommunication. Got a call 4 days after, and we split the costs for battery replacement.

I lost 200€ and they did not dove the problem

They have substituted my screen for the second time and have not solved the problem. I never asked for a new screen and they did not solve the problem. I have lost 200€

The Phone Lab made my day!

The Phone Lab in Utrecht really saved me.
My phone stopped responding in the afternoon, and since I rely on it for work, I rushed to The Phone Lab. That evening, I had a work dinner planned, and thankfully they made time to help me quickly. Thanks to their swift service, I was able to join the dinner on time—with a fixed phone and peace of mind.

The Phone Lab offers excellent service and is very customer-friendly. I also found the repair costs to be quite reasonable.

I can definitely recommend The Phone Lab!

The Phone Lab in Utrecht heeft mij echt uit de brand geholpen. Mijn telefoon reageerde smiddags niet meer. En aangezien ik hem nodig heb voor mijn werk ben ik met spoed naar The Phone Lab gegaan. In de namiddag had ik een etentje met mijn werk, maar gelukkig maakte zij tijd vrij om mij snel te helpen, zodat ik met een gefixte telefoon en een opgelucht hoofd op tijd aan kon schuiven.

The Phone lab biedt een goede dienstverlening en is zeer klantvriendelijk. Bovendien vond ik de kosten voor de reparatie erg meevallen.

Ik kan Phone Lab aanbevelen!

Good place

The appointment was easy made online. A very friendly person was welcoming me, checked if the phone was good to work with and half an hour later he was finished. Although the calibration didn’t work out the way it supposed to, so I send an email and the response was directly that I can come back to work it out.

The appointment was completed satisfactorily. The staff was polite and professional. The battery was replaced correctly within the agreed timeframe, and the screen protector was replaced free of charge. This Breda location provides reliable service.

Quoted €1,700 for a repair that actually cost me €350 elsewhere

tl;dr Not suitable for Apple MacBook repairs. They quoted me €1,700 for repairs that I had performed elsewhere for €350.

I took my MacBook to them for repair after I had spilled some wine on it. The USB ports stopped working and the keyboard was unreliable.

The priority issue was the USB ports which I needed for external monitors and backups. The technician inspected the device and said that it would entail replacing the motherboard, and that the price would be around €1,000 for parts and labour.

I decided to hold off on that due to the expense, but a couple of months later I decided that I would get the keyboard fixed because it was getting unusable. I took my laptop back to the shop and spoke to the same technician.

He said the entire keyboard assembly would need to be replaced and gave me an estimation of around €700, but said he would need to order in a part first. He took my number and said he would call me once he had a fixed quote and the keyboard in stock. He called me 3-4 weeks later and said that he could confirm that the quote would be €700 but, unfortunately, his supplier didn't have a keyboard for my model and didn't expect to get them in the future either, so they weren't able to help me.

This seemed unreasonably expensive to me – €1,700 to replace the keyboard and repair the USB ports – and it didn't sound right that it wasn't possible to get a standard keyboard part. So I went to ComputerGlobe instead, who came recommended to me.

Their technician took one look at it and said that he could see wine oxidation within the USB sockets, and they probably just needed that oxide removed. He gave a quote of €350 for a genuine Apple keyboard replacement or €280 for a third party equivalent.

As it turns out they did actually need to do a chip-level motherboard repair to get the keyboard working and they must have spend a huge number of hours on it. But they still stuck to their quote of €350, and wouldn't accept any money for repairing the USB ports, even though I wanted them to charge me. They had been right that some wine had just corroded the contacts in the ports and it hadn't affected the motherboard.

So, I think about how many things went wrong with The Phone Lab:

– Telling me I needed a €1,000 motherboard replacement to fix the USB ports when all the laptop needed was some cleaning in the physical sockets

– Keyboard replacement initially offered, but at the cost of €700 when ComputerGlobe did the work for €350

– Not having suppliers who were able to provide a replacement keyboard for a recent model MacBook.

– If I had gone ahead with the €1,000 motherboard replacement, it wouldn't have fixed the ports anyway because nothing was wrong with the motherboard, and the physical sockets would still have been oxidised.

What an expensive mistake it would have been to have used this company's services. I can't think how this experience could possibly have been worse.

My phone battery was dead resulting to…

My phone battery was dead resulting to regular fallout of my phone. I was afraid that my phone might not be working anymore. The confirmation that my battery needed to be replaced was a relief. However I was a bit shocked about the expensive new battery for this old phone. He explained that it was due to more labour involved in replacing the battery for this particular old phone. Nonetheless he gave me a discount and again I was pleasantly surprised and relief. Good service, efficiently rapid in less than 1 hour. Experts in putting smiles on faces when dramas happen to devices.
