Very happy!

Placed and order and was kept informed throughout the delivery process. Items arrived quickly and very well packaged! I was dubious buying online and as to whether they would arrive intact without damage to either plants or pots but every care as taken to minimise this. Plants are lovely and I’m very pleased with them all. Just need to keep them alive 😃

Great value, great service, great quality!

The plant I ordered arrived on time, and I was updated about the delivery at every step after the order. The plant arrived in great condition, as well as the pot we bought with it. Will definitely keep purchasing!

Terrible lack of support for poor condition plant

Edit:
James' reply is not quite accurate. However, having checked my emails I did get my dates mixed up, the issues started in June and I wrote to them in July after a lot of leaf loss. Other than the care advice that comes with the plant no other advice was given at all, this is simply untrue. I sent photos of the tree, it's location from different angles in the room, and gave so much detail about it's care. They pick and chose which parts to reply to – focussing on the earthworms I mentioned and offering no suggestion as to what, in that case, could be causing the issues. Most replies were asking me questions I'd already answered or requesting photos I'd already sent and it went on like this for weeks. They palmed me off with 'leaf loss is normal' so I stopped trying until I discovered the trunk rot in August after removing yet another batch of dead leaves. This is when I got back in touch asking again for help. My last two emails went ignored. I understand they don't think it's their problem after 4-7 months (not 10) but if I'd had the right kind of help in the first place we wouldn't have gotten to me still complaining this long after. I never asked for compensation or a replacement, simply advice.

Things started well, I received my lovely plants and was happy until a couple of months later my money tree showed signs of stress. I'm used to shopping at online plant shops with pretty speedy and super helpful replies and sadly this is where The Stem falls way short. If you want to know you'll receive help to save a dying plant you've had for two minutes don't shop here.

Many emails back and forth, the usual emails stating leaf drop is normal, earth worms in the soil is good for aeration (yes worms came in the soil and according to my research they can also eat roots) but no actual suggestions on what I can do. I'm not new with plants but I'm new with Pachira Aquatica. The trunks started to rot, I sent photos, the owner replied asking for photos....?! And since then I've been ghosted. Completely ghosted.

I've lost three of five trunks, spent countless hours online doing research, my local garden centre manager even took the time to chat with me about it! He told me these trees tend to have loads of issues and that's why he doesn't sell them. He said the roots looked way too short for a tree that big.

I couldn't have sent more photos or details on my care, lighting, watering, fertilising and the issues I was facing, and yet it wasn't enough. They clearly don't want to take any responsibility for the fact the tree started to deteriorate so quickly. Either that or they just lack the knowledge needed to run a plant company... Suppose it was a good trend to jump on.

Really gutting as it's really important to me to support indie and small biz, but you have got to make sure you are providing a good customer experience and support. I won't be back as I don't like throwing my money down the drain.

PS the date of experience is the LAST time I tried to get help NOT the first.

Reply from The Stem

Hi Anna,

I'm very sorry that you were not happy with the advice we provided about your money tree.

We have a set of trouble shooting steps that we ran through, and we provided advice upon how to create the conditions for your money tree to thrive.

As the plant was delivered 10 months (40 weeks) ago, in February, it makes it a little more challenging as the health will depend on the environment and care it has received in its home.

If there was any issue, this needs to be flagged to us as soon as possible, yet we were only told about this almost a year after delivery.

Best wishes,

James

First time using The Stem company and really pleased. The plants are affordable, delivered with care, information given on how to care for your plant, and they look great. Would recommend and purchase more from them.
