Tier is a walking App
Tier is an App to promote walking, as their scooters never work. Why does each scooter have a 6 digit code when it is clear there are only 40 in Bristol total. When you do find a scooter it is in a nest of about 4 or 5 and none of them are bookable. It's very frustrating compared to Voi who in my opinion had an excellent product and customer service. TIER looks like they are doing this for the first time and failing. The reservation feature fails and anywhere other than BS1 doesn't get a look in.

Absolutely appalling service
Absolutely appalling service. I had to walk home in the rain from Clifton triangle to Bishopston last night at around 7pm. There was not one single functioning Tier near the triangle, nor along the entire length of Whiteladies Road or next to the Downs or along Redland Hill. There used to be many Vois on that route. The app told me I had credits and that I could ‘reserve’ a nearby Tier. It could not direct me to the scooter in question though once I had reserved it and then proceeded to deduct one of my credits anyway. I eventually found a working Tier half way along Kelleway Avenue (when I was almost home) but that stopped working in the middle of the ride and I had to pull in quickly to avoid being hit on a narrow road. I could not even find a customer service number to call on the app. The app is also really flakey as is the GPS system from past experience. My wife says she has had problems with the scooter stands that rattle. Tiers are also very expensive, especially given the poor quality of the scooters and customer service. Has all the hallmarks of a cowboy operation to me, I.e. expensive, poor quality service and zero accountability. I used to use Vois all the time. No more Tiers for me. Back to my trusty bike and I will be writing to Dan Norris to complain.

The scooter didn’t work
The scooter didn’t work, and still doesn’t now. But the customer team, are the most efficient service, I’ve ever experienced. Faster than a racehorse with 8 legs. When they do fix it, I’ll be even happier. But up to now, I was able to get in contact with someone almost instantly. Thank you for making my day

Get better or bring back Voi
What should have been a 5-10 minute journey turned into half an hour (all of which I was charged for) attempting to park somewhere within the same postcode as my original destination. I tried about 10 different parking spots, each of which required a scan of the surrounding area (feeling ridiculous as people thought I was filming them) before telling me "no parking available, please find a different spot" with absolutely no indication of where said available spot might be - unlike Voi, TIER does not show the number of available spaces at each parking point on their map.
Now late for my appointment, I phoned their helpline, only to be answered by someone mumbling every answer - I eventually realised they were offering me 4 minutes of ride credits for the trouble, which would have been good had I not just spent 20 trying to park.
The app in its current iteration is basically unusable, unless you have plenty of time and money to waste.
TIER have also started flagging reviews on this site in an attempt to hide their poor ratings, so make sure to attach your proof of purchase when leaving a genuine review!

TIER is improving, quickly.
Well TIER has definitely had its downs in Bristol. However, recently they’ve improved. For example, the scooters no longer randomly stop in busy roads etc.. because they seem to have replaced it with “no parking zones” instead of “no-go zones” meaning the scooter won’t come to a complete halt.
When you click on a scooter on the app you can see all the zones and the parking spots which i find useful. AND batteries can be checked beforehand on the scooter, the battery itself has a small blue button on the top which when clicked will display its charge.
However, unlike Voi you can’t tell if a parking area is full, the parking areas are also sometimes inaccurate meaning they’re parked everywhere, saw one in the middle of cabot circus yesterday.
One more thing is that Bristol was promised e-bikes on the same day yet, they haven’t been released, this may be due to transportation issues i’ve heard.
Overall, TIER is new to Bristol and personally it shouldn’t have been expected for it to be perfected straight away, even though some issues were serious. In terms of problems with the app, I haven’t had any at all so far, could be due to the phone I use or whether your mobile fully supports TIER.

As bad as all the reviews in the Bristol press
I miss Voi already! I’ve now tried 9 journeys using a Tier in Bristol, and each of these has ended with me performing pirouettes taking video of the local surroundings in their app only to be told that a parking place is full or that I wasn’t in a parking zone despite the map saying otherwise. The price has therefore been almost double that of Voi as I wander the neighbourhood trying to find whatever magic combination it takes to be able to end a ride. Perversely, where it does finally allow you to end a ride and cease being charged can be in the middle of a road or somewhere demonstrably unsuitable and unsafe.
Today, I concluded Tier are genuinely unusable after spending 20 mins doing that around the whole BS8 area. I’ve now closed my account and until the West change supplier back to Voi at the next rotation of providers, I’m done with scooters thanks to Teir’s incompetence.

In Bristol
In Bristol, many issues are still not fixed (perhaps worse than when it was Voi): no availability of scooters in many places during the day. Not able to park close enough to key sites e.g. Temple Meads Station approaching from the North. Very expensive cost of an individual ride, about £3.40 for a 15min scoot (removes the spontaneity, might as well take the £2 bus ride and stay fully out of the rain). The scooters now seem even slower than when they were Voi, and they were hardly cheetahs when they were Vois. Can't you trust people to ride a bit faster if they are more confident/experienced riders and can see it is safe to do so? That's how being a road user is meant to work, you are trusted to go at a speed appropriate to the situation. Also: after months and months of whining, how is having two (or even 3!) people on a scooter still allowed to happen, is there still no enforcement of this basic rule? The people of Bristol constantly whine about unsafe riders - the problem is the irresponsible riders and lack of enforcement of the rules, not all riders. The only positive I can say is there's now the ability to reserve a "nearby" scooter up to 10mins in advance of when you need it, which could be handy some times.

Awful!
Awful!! Can’t ever find one that works, always says the scooter is unavailable. When you can find one and start it through the app the scooter number doesn’t correlate and therefore you can’t make it start. Total mess, totally unreliable, totally pointless. You have scooters all over the city that don’t work and the app doesn’t help either. Useless!

Scooter stopped working
Finally able to ride one of these a few days ago, as issues with licence verification had stopped me previously. Rode for about a minute, before the scooter cut out and wouldn't move any more. I also couldn't end the ride as I wasn't in a parking spot. Customer service then tried to say that I was in a no go zone, which I most definitely wasn't. I've now lost faith in this company and won't bother using them again. Such a shame as e-scooters can be very convenient and I used them lots when voi were running them.

Bristol: bring back Voi!
A depressingly bad start for the scheme in Bristol. I had a dire experience on a quiet Tuesday night - one scooter wouldn’t unlock, the next one that did wouldn’t go (but still charged for the “ride” to wheel it back to the starting point) then tried to locate the next scooters showing as available - only to find the app was wrong and there were no scooters. Customer service offers credits instead of a refund.
I was a frequent Voi user and appreciated the ease of finding a scooter, parking it and the map functionality. The move to Tier is a huge, frustrating disappointment - just as Bristol was starting to benefit from this amenity. Tier’s service needs a radical shake up in Bristol - fast.

Unprepared for Bristol launch / poor
I have been using the voi scooters for 2 years so I was excited for a change but TIER was clearly not ready for a launch in bristol. There are barley any on street scooters (although I did notice a slight increase), 80% of the scooters are always out of battery, and when you are lucky enough to find a scooter, it will always cut off mid ride, either due to extended no go zones (even if you are just next to one) or because lack of battery. The overall ux/ui of the app could be better, especially when there are several scooters next to each other, it’s difficult to connect to the right one using the app. I’d also prefer it if it didnt connect and start the ride right away after scanning a scooter, i’d like to see the battery and other details first, because the ride will just stop a few seconds later and ill get charged to unlock another scooter if i manage to find 1 a few minutes later. Still no long term rentals although we had months notice, so i think we will just stop using e-scooters and find a more reliable source of transport
Fined for Tier mistake.
I ride a electric bike outside of the drop area, however my plan was come back and drop the bike to an usual allowed spot. Although mysteriously the bike disconnected in outside of the area, and soon I pick up the bike using the app(I did not even dismount) again to keep going my ride. Nevertheless the Tier fined me to drop the bike outside of the allowed area. They ignored my email explaining this. Bad experience. Already uninstall the app and using other options.

Absolutely awful in Bristol.
Absolutely awful in Bristol.
We had a great scheme with Voi but since Tier took over its been dreadful. Around 50% of the parking spaces have gone, hardly any scooters especially in South Bristol and they keep cutting out in dangerous areas - what a way to mess up a perfectly good scheme we had in the city until Tier won the contract

So upset with the replacement of voi in Bristol
The scooters cut out randomly which is incredibly dangerous. Last week I was on a scooter and it cut out on a main road whilst a bus was behind me and it nearly hit me. There is nowhere on the app where you can actually contact the company or place a complaint. The scooters are often very slow and very expensive considering how appalling they are. If you can avoid using tier I would 100% recommend you do that. Not worth the frustration. Sometimes a scooter will randomly unlock and you're charged for it but aren't near that scooter. I miss voi. Have deleted the tier app and won't be using them.

Charged rides, despite active pass
Bought a week Pass with 100 Minutes, app shows it is active, despite that minutes and unlocking was charged the whole week. Contacted the support, claim was pass includes only unlock, showed a screenshot of the pass, then statement was "is just reserving amount, will not be charged, now all is charged and support stating will check and did not come back since 4 days despite reminders ... never again I will use Tier
Update after one week: only after posting here the negative rating Tier support came back answering charged amounts will be refunded. Waiting to receive back the money.
Update: money was refunded. As stated, only once I posted here the negative rating Tier reacted. Will avoid using TIER in future.

Death traps
Death traps. They cut out in the middle of busy roads and almost get you killed. I would NEVER recommend this. If you have any other choice of transport, take it.

Bristol TIER
Consistently dangerous slow downs in the middle of heavy traffic due to the app thinking you're in a slow zone. I've nearly been run over twice. This is obviously heavily influenced by your device's gps signal, but to account for that they should have better algorithms in place and to allow a lot more leeway so as to not leave people suddenly breaking down to a slow speed in traffic and risking an accident, even a gradual loss of power would be safer than cutting immediately from 20->10kph with cars behind.
Alongside that, trying to get a parking spot with this app is like panning for gold. The app claims "lets find another spot", but doesn't actually give a suggestion. I've spent up to 10 minutes and travelling half the way back to where I came from trying to get parked. There is also no in-app resolution and the help number is buried away, all whilst they charge you.
Finally, the charging process is bizarre. For a single journey I swear I get about 3 different transactions on my card, the initial £4 hold, a refund minus the journey cost, then often times a second charge or refund. They need to sort this and make it far more transparent.
Utterly, utterly terrible service. VOI was not without its faults, but they were infinitely better than this. Learn from these mistakes please TIER.

Not fit for purpose
Come on man. You have one job. Get me from A to B. That’s it. Jumped
on one of your sleek scooters only to have it cut out as I was going up a hill (assume this is because there is an adjacent park which is a no go zone) to not working at all. Ride was then limited to 10k p/h for the rest of the journey. Didn’t think I would say this but I miss Voi. Bristol deserves better.

Why did WECA change from Voi to Tier?
Scooter is shorter and more difficult to ride
Experiences from West of England scheme (Bristol)
Lots of parking/rental spaces have disappeared
More difficult to end ride than VOI - you have to scan the area!
No form to report problem riders
No day pass, so much more expensive than VOI and less suitable for people in the suburbs
Very few Tier scooters in South Bristol
VOI worked really well in Bristol. Tier seem so far behind

Terrible app made by terrible people...
Terrible customer service and the app wouldnt verify my driving license. Typical crap company, with a cheap untested app and a cheap call centre that were absolutely useless. Just waiting for the classic copy/paste reply to this review "we are sorry to hear you had a bad experience bla bla bla...please send us an email to info at whogivesafook dot com regards some chat bot"
