If your experience with Tony's has been less-than-perfect, we'd love the chance to put things right before you leave us a review.. So pop an email to mailuk@tonyschocolonely.com, and our Choco Fancare team will work their magic. Tony’s Chocolonely is an impact company that makes chocolate, committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. And not just the cocoa in our chocolate, but in all chocolate worldwide. Tony's Chocolonely was founded in 2005 by 3 journalists from the Dutch TV show ‘Keuringsdienst van Waarde’ after they discovered that the world’s largest chocolate manufacturers were buying cocoa from plantations that used illegal labor. Since then, we've dedicated our efforts to raising awareness of and eliminating inequality in the cocoa industry, becoming the #1 chocolate brand in the Netherlands. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example and show the world that chocolate can be made differently: in taste, packaging and the way we do business with cocoa farmers. Starting with paying them a higher price. Alone, we’ll end exploitation in our cocoa supply chain, but together we can change the industry across the globe. That's why we invite everyone to join our commitment. 'Cause it's only together that we'll end exploitation in cocoa.

Hi Chris, thanks for letting us know what you thought about our choco. Taste is a pretty personal thing, and so we know that just because there are people out there who love Tony's, doesn't mean that everyone will. We're gutted you found our choco to be cheap-tasting, but we're really happy to have the feedback, so thanks again!

Thank you Megs!

I had the pleasure in dealing with Megs in customer service via Instagram. I have had a HUGE pregnancy craving for Tony's Salted Caramel (Littl' bits and the huge bar) and had an issue with one of the bags. Not only did I have a response within 24 hours apologising profusely, but Megs took pity on pregnant me and sent me a little goody bag to apologise further. I have been a long time customer of Tony's and this has only solidified its place for me as an amazing retailer with a great customer service team and delicious chocolate. Thanks so much for everything Megs!!

Chocolate Dust

Won bars in postcode lottery. I like my chocolate from the fridge so when I tried to cut it cold it just crumbled leaving me with dust. It’s weird imprint means you can’t just have a chunk so it’s impossible to have a small piece. The chocolate is creamy but so is a galaxy. It also has a figure of 62% on the back so very confusing label. Won’t be buying it in the future but nice to sample it for free.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, Pauline. We're sorry you weren't bowled over by your free bar of Tony's.. The design of our choco bars has an important message behind it, and serves as a visual reminder that there's a whole lot of inequality in the cocoa industry. With profits still very much unequally divided, it's important our bars share this story (even if it does make for a slightly messier break as a result), so they won't change until the industry does. We hope that explains things a bit more, and thanks again for your feedback :)

Delicious & ethically made chocolate...but

Delicious chocolate... I'm a big fan of the everything bar! Also the fact it's ethical brand treating all along the supply chain fairly is a huge win. Basically guilt free calories as you're helping others out! 😉

I would put them down as 5 stars if it wasn't down to the infuriating shape which is not easy to break apart when sharing...unless you just go full savage and bite it apart. It has put my partner off of buying them which is a shame

Really appreciate the balanced feedback, Kevin - thanks for taking the time.. We're really chuffed to know you're a fan of our choco, and that you know all about the mission we're on too. Raising awareness is what we're here to do, first and foremost! When it comes to the way we've shaped our bars, we want our choco to serve as a reminder of the inequality that still exists within the cocoa industry. While they can be a little messy and difficult to break, the message is important, and so unfortunately our bars will remain unequally divided until we see big transformations in the industry. Thanks again!

Great reading your feedback, Simon - thanks so much! The way our bars are divided is often a topic of debate, but their higgledy piggledy nature is very much intentional, serving as a visual reminder that the profits made in the cocoa industry are still very much unequally divided. Until that changes, we're afraid our choco will have to stay the way it is. We hope that explains things :)

Won 4 bars on the postcode lottery

Won 4 bars on the postcode lottery. Very average chocolate, waxy almost like the outer chocolate of a Kit Kat or a cheap nasty Easter egg.

What is even more annoying is the shapes of the bar, very messy to break apart. Left with crumps of chocolate everywhere.

Surprised when I saw the cost, I am glad mine were free. Nice to see the ethical side of business but no use if product garbage

Sorry to hear you weren't a fan of your free bar of Tony's, James! While it's to be expected that not everyone will love the way we make our choco, we can't help but always hope it'll become a new favourite when someone does give it a try for the first time. The unequally divided nature of our bars is very much intentional though, and serves as a visual reminder that profits made in the cocoa industry are still very much unequally divided. Until that changes, our choco will have to stay the way it is. Thanks so much for the feedback, and for giving Tony's a try.

Like the principle behind it and the taste, but am constantly annoyed about why you can’t break the bar properly.

We're sorry for the very late reply to your feedback, Rosmarijn! We're glad you're a fan of our choco, and to know that you're behind us with our mission too. The unequally-divided nature of a Tony's bar is often a topic of debate, but we just don't think it makes sense for chocolate bars to be divided into equal-sized chunks when there is so much inequality in the industry. We've made them this way to remind our fans that the profits in the cocoa industry are still very much unequally divided - and until that changes, our bars will need to remain as they are. We hope that explains things!

I love this chocolate bar

I love this chocolate bar. I haven't tried all the bars but I tried the 'everything' one and it tastes amazing. the milk chocolate flavour is really good and especially with all the other extra stuff inside of it, it's banging. Id say personally it is better than Dubai choc as well which went so viral. Never thought i'd write a review for chocolate but here I am.

Bad chocolate, very bad customer service

We had a bad Tony Chocolate bag of tiny Tony’s. They had a nasty and bad taste.
Therefore we contacted customer support and they said the chocolate was white due to Fat Bloom. Nothing about the taste and no replacement.
Then that was the last time we ate Tony Chocolate. Be ware and better look for other brands!

Hey John. We're sorry to hear you weren't offered some much tastier chocolate to replaced the bloomed Tiny Tony's you had. We usually do our best to make up for experiences like these, and we're not sure why that didn't happen this time around. If you let us know your case number (found in the email you'll have had from someone in our team), we'd be really happy to look into it for you.

If you're ever after something a bit more interesting, we make a bunch of bars that include a whole lotta good stuff to make your taste buds sing.. The Everything bar is a firm favourite with Choco Fans right now - milk chocolate with pretzel pieces, sea salt, almonds and nougat.. Mmm!

Bought a bar of the caramel chocolate in Sainsburys.

Not impressed! It's overpriced & tastes like cheap cooking chocolate.🤮

Thanks for the feedback, Anne. We don't shy away from the fact that we charge more for the stuff we make - it's all in the name of paying a fair price to the cocoa farmers we work with (which in turn helps us to end exploitation in the industry). We're sorry you really weren't a fan of our choco though, appreciate it won't be to everyone's taste. Thanks for giving it a try!

Lost order, impossible to contact them

I ordered directly from their website, parcel was stollen by Evri driver.

Tried reaching them over email, but guess what, they don't have a specific mailbox for customer service. They probably get everything routed to the same mailbox and they never answered.

I also tried to call them, they have pretty much same issue as with the mailbox. They most probably don't have enough agents do deal with the calls.

So my package was lost/stolen and Tony won't reply to email and there's no chance in contacting them over phone.

Also, their phone line is the most annoying thing ever. First listen of their automated recording was fun, by the 3rd one it was making me go insane. They sing and keep yelling "YEEHAW" which gets very very annoying at some point.

sodium hydroxide is not going to kill you

Just bought some online and let’s see what’s happening. I just read a review and saw someone complaining about the use of sodium hydroxide… what I can say is sodium hydroxide sounds horrible, however, it has another well known name, lye. Lye solution is widely used in baking industry, and it is even a kind of key ingredient to produce some Asian pastry. Yes, lye is strong alkaline and it’s corrosive, however, have you eaten lemon before? It’s also very strong acid and can be corrosive as well. Also, most of the citrus flavored snacks you bought contain citrus acid, guess what? Another strong corrosive acid. However, they all get neutralized, or at least to the level that is not harmful to human. Trust me, if the sodium hydroxide is not yet neutralized in that chocolate, you will know it when you put it on your hand. Every soap maker knows how that feels like.

Otherwise, it doesn't matter how ethical the company tries to be. I tried the milk chocolate bar with my husband and I felt sick after eating it, so we definitely won't be buying from this company again. Hotel Chocolat's Ecuadorian dark it is. Terrible non-personalisation

I tried to cancel an online order within 24h of placing it to be told that it was not possible to cancel as the personalisation was done immediately. Not only did the bars take over 3 weeks to arrive they were hopeless as personalised gifts as the names were simply written together on the shared delivery box. I had assumed that the wrappers would have been personalised or at least they would have been separately labelled. Hopeless gifts

Ridiculous, for £13 I should be getting all of my days filled with chocolate and have the numbers printed the right way round. I love Tony's Chocoloney and I understand that there are a limited amount of flavours, 16 to be exact yet I've only got 9 of those 16 flavours?! I am really disappointed.
