don't book with Le Fork
we have used Trip Advisor numerous to research hotels, restaurants, activities, etc.
went on Trip Advisor web site to make a booking for a restaurant for Christmas Eve, was passed onto 'TheFork' a restaurant booking platform affiliated to Trip Advisor, had email from TheFork confirming the booking had been accepted. We turned up at restaurant on time, only to be told they were closed to the public, family only, showed them a copy of the email but we were told they never take bookings for Christmas Eve . . . . . an hour later (after the restaurant messaged TheFork) we got a message from TheFork saying the booking was cancelled.
No explanation or apology from TheFork, no apology from Trip Advisor, and no option to review TheFork on the Trip Advisor web site even though TheFork is a Trip Advisor company.
The one star we have given is because that was as low as we could go for this review.

Purchased tickets on TripAdvisor.com to the Frida Kalho museum in Mexico City. They are selling tickets from another tour company, which is running a scam.
I received my mobile tickets from Trip advisor with correct name, booing number and bar code. Upon arrival, the museum refused our tickets and said that this keeps happening that they do not accept 3rd party tickets. We had to buy another set of tickets.
After several emails and phone calls with Trip Advisor trying to explain that they are selling fake tickets. You only get an a short email saying that they will not be able to issue a refund and the case is closed.
Worst customer service. I suggest only using this site for information only, do not purchase anything.

Do not use at all!. Due to covid are unable to holiday in Wales and they only refund half of your money. So transfered it to next year which is great, but now want £171 transfer fee...For what? Typing in new dates on a calendar? Also if you book a cottage in the UK they'll keep telling you to contact the owner who will tell you to contact Trip advisor...Took two weeks to get to the transfer holiday part of this issue...Be aware!

Almost 300 Trip Advisor reviews
I have been writing reviews on Trip Advisor for many years. I also look at other reviews for info about the resorts. I find it very interesting that most resorts have a 4.5/5 rating and that places them (for example) #14 of 21 in the location. For me, 14 of 21 place it in the bottom third and should not be a 4.5/5.
With thousands of reviews that go back over 10 years, these ratings are useless. But it is a reason Trip Advisor can give an "award" to the resort that they can place on the wall in the lobby with the other useless awards from other travel companies. Also with thousands of reviews, a single poor or terrible review is not going to change the rating. They should change the ratings so they include only the last 100 reviews or reviews in the last 12 months as resorts do change. Also there are lots of reviews written by staff or people who have very little travel experience. I know the first time I went to an all inclusive resort, it blew me away. Now that I have been to dozens of different ones, I am very critical of some of the smallest differences and have different expectations of a place that charges $150/night and one that charges $500/night.
I have tried to contact Trip Advisor directly with these concerns but cannot find a contact. Their contact information is just for their customers, the hotels, attractions, etc that pay them for their marketing services.

A customer of mine has been declined a refund by ta. They are elderly and the isle of man where my rental is located has sealed borders. Ta hold tje money. If i csncel the booking theres a £120 fee for me.

holiday renters book direct with owners. Youll avoid collosal booking fees and frankly pathetic customer service. Id recomend you deal with owners directly.

TripAdvisor deletes reports on sexual assault at the Hotel, I heard it is so that they can still make money. I had a bad experience myself and was struggling to voice out and in the forums many women had said that their posts on sexual assault had been deleted. Honestly it's very sad and infuriating :(
Because of our advanced ages
Because of our advanced ages, 81 and 76, we have had to cancel our November booking because our travel insurance company have advised us that they will not cover us for the corona virus.
The owner of our apartment in Tenerife very kindly agreed to repay our deposit in full.
When I phoned Trip Advisor this morning to confirm this cancellation, I was informed that I would still have to pay a booking fee of £81!
This is absolutely SCANDALOUS as it is not our fault that we cannot go - who in their right minds would travel abroad without travel insurance with the corona virus situation at present particularly as our age group is the most vulnerable!
Shame on Trip Advisor - you have let us down again and it is costing us more money!!
Trip Advisor wasted my time, took my money and disappointed my friends!
Just spent days searching for a place to stay and was willing to push the boat out as it was for us to stay and treat friends (in lieu of the holidays we all can’t have) on the occasion of our sons wedding.
Found a Manor in Wadhurst, near the wedding venue ,expensive, but stunning, checked several times that it was available paid over £2000 pound deposit final total to be £13,000+. Consulted friends who might join us only to receive an email from tripadvisor saying it was already booked for the very weekend in May 2021 we had to choose because of the wedding. It was supposedly free for the rest of the year. It is probably already booked for months.
Why did they take our deposit? When will we get it back? We can’t change the date of a wedding..We have already disappointed several friends who were to join us for a long weekend. What I won’t get back are the hours I spent researching it and it will be a long time before I would trust Trip advisor again.

TripAdvisor has become a very important resource for any traveler all over the world due to its extensive global coverage, with a large number of reviewers writes reviews here (no other site comes even close), and its "candid passenger photos" (which In my opinion single is the most useful feature) can share.

They are going from bad to worse. i stopped writing for them when they withheld a negative review for Fern U21 Hotel in Belgaum. This has led me to believe they promote certain brands on a give and take basis. And never go by their five star ratings - many of the so called Number 1 hotels across cities are horrible options - whether for stay or for food. for instance - J hotel, Port Blair; Sunshine inn Ponda Goa; Heritage, Badami ....
Selling Tickets For Animal Cruelty
So.... I have just signed a petition because TripAdvisor sells tickets for tourists to gawk at and take selfies with these poor animals and drink luwak coffee, fueling a brutal and unnecessary trade. It’s time to stop the cruelty. Civet cats are nocturnal, solitary animals and YOU are a disgrace. If you can end ticket sales to Sea World due to animal cruelty then do the same for this beautiful cats! 58% bad feedback? So many people can’t be wrong.

Our money stolen but no one wants to help
We booked tickets through yourselves in good faith, for tickets to an audio tour of the Colloseum in Rome for today. You used a company called Viator, they never sent us the tickets, we have spent weeks trying to get these tickets sent to us, various emails, phones calls to yourselves and Viator (based in the Phillipines) all to no avail! We ended up having to purchase them again direct from the Colloseum, for less than you charged I might add! Viator have admitted they haven't sent us the tickets but are still refusing us a refund? After looking at reviews for Viator it appears we are not alone! Why do think it is acceptable to use a company that are clearly no more than theives?? You were all quick enough to take our money, but no one wants to help us get it back!
Beware when booking an apartment/villa
Beware when booking an apartment/villa. Sent of a booking request and they put a hold of £673 for the deposit on my card. The owner didn’t bother giving any response within the 24 hour timeframe so the request is cancelled. Now waiting for up to 7 days for the funds to become available to book elsewhere. Not handy if you are travelling soon. No money should be held until the booking is confirmed, as other sites do. Never again!
