Trunorth doesn't rate even a 1 star

Trunorth doesn't rate even a 1 star. These people will do anything to get out of paying for any repairs. They will recommend you take your truck to a certain shop then afterwards tell you they won't honor the claim because the truck was driven. They have no intention to pay so if you have your truck towed then you're stuck with the tow bill. I have a Freightliner and they find reasons to not want to honor the claim even though I took it to a Freightliner shop. Trunorth is the biggest bunch of crooks around. Stay away from Trunorh warranty. If a truck dealer try to sell you a warranty from trunorth tell them you know it's a scam and run, shop somewhere else.

TruNorth does not honor their coverage on vehicles

I’m writing to express the terrible experience I’ve had as a truck driver and owner operator dealing with TruNorth. They continuously give me the run around and try to find ways to not pay their portion on the warranty I have with them. I just recently put my 2nd claim in with TruNorth. One in December of 2019 which the issues were sensors and should have been covered but was denied because of the mechanic shop not being able to pull the codes back up once they erased them. So now fast forward to May this time I had my Tractor and trailer towed to the Kenworth dealership because they deal with warranty companies all the time. They diagnosed my truck to be turbo failure and actuator . They both needed replacing. The total bill was 10,635. TruNorth said they would pay 5700 minus 300 for deductible. My portion was 5200. Kenworth called me on a Friday and told me to come and pick up my truck. It was ready. So I went there, paid my portion and left. Well that following monday my engine light came back on. I took it back and they diagnosed it as a failed sensor. I took it elsewhere to get that fixed because of TruNorth denying my claim for sensors back in January and it was another claim that would have to be opened up and I needed to get back to work asap.

Well TruNorth did not pay their share which was 5400 hundred from when I originally picked my truck up from Kenworth.. They said they don’t do partial work and said by that other code that came up later on that Monday and that I should have let it stay in the Kenworth shop to get fixed. I was previously told that I could take my truck anywhere to get fixed as long as it’s opened to the public. This company lied to me. Kenworth has reached out to TruNorth to no avail and I’m tired of dealing with this rip off company who makes up rules as they go along. They should have paid their portion that Friday when I paid mines but they didn't. It was put in the shop for turbo and actuator and that’s what Kenworth fixed. Now they think I’m supposed to pay the portion they were supposed to pay. I have all emails from this incident and Kenworth can back up my claim that this sensor is a different situation that was opened up on a different ticket. This company is in the business of putting owner operators like myself out of business. I would have taken my truck elsewhere to get fixed besides the dealer if they weren't going to cover what they offered to pay and saved a whole lot of money. I ask that you look into their business practices because I feel as though they are a fraudulent company . I have another truck that’s paid off now and I had a warranty on that one also. I never had to jump through hoops like with this one and still be denied. Something is not right with this company.

My advice to any owner operators looking to purchase a truck; If the only warranty company they offer is TruNorth then please leave that truck there and go elsewhere because it’s just like having no warranty at all. I sincerely hope that this company does what’s right and pays what they should. The only other alternative I can think of is legal action. Other than that I hope that other owner operators can avoid the frustrating situation that I’ve had to experience with TruNorth.

A class action lawsuit is what needs to be filed on this company. Their ability to deny every claim and to come up with every excuse is truly remarkable. A shame that this company cannot stand behind what they are selling! Currently searching for a lawyer!

They told me the problem is preexisting mind you that the dealer has done a warranty inspection.

Don't buy truck warranty to this company, they are the worst and thief's in the industry, they don't work with the owner operator, they just want take your money and that's it. When they don't want to cover your truck repair, they start asking for paperwork and send you emails every day asking for more and more documents. Is not worthy. David Contreras.

If they are experts at anything, it's denying claims!

The best thing I can say about this company is that I've been less stressed out patrolling in Afghanistan than I have been trying to get a claim approved through TruNorth Warranty.

Everything sounds good at the dealership, but what they fail to mention is that their horrible approval rate (25% or less) from adjudicators that believe they are more knowledgable than the Northwest Paccar MX senior engineers.

Don't get me wrong, I have had the occasional claim approved. But for a majority of the claims the issues were either non-covered components (they will be sure to ask any and all questions to service departments in order to lead them into suggestion the cause of failure was related to a non-covered component, despite what was covered on the technicians notes) or covered components that they felt weren't addressed in time (despite the manufacturers advice).

There is a reason major fleets choose to purchase new equipment and stick with the manufacturers warranty, similar to the Cummins 5yr/500,000 warranty, and then cut losses and let start up owner/operators like myself learn the hard way about the aftermarket warranty scheme. Luckily I learned my lesson and will be moving on from TruNorth!
