This was our third cruise and we definitely have the bug for it…. We went on the adult only explorer 2 ship with 4 other family members .. 2 of which was there first cruise and they loved it too! 😀👍 We still love the voyager the first ship we went on as we loved the garden house at the back of the ship… this one never had one and we missed it! I don’t think there’s enough sun beds especially for the day at sea …. And I do think the lottery that we always buy when on board, the numbers should be drawn on the last night in one of the bars or restaurants and announced the day and time it’s announced… otherwise like my sister said it seems fixed!

As a first cruise with Marella we were very pleased; a great crew, good sized cabin with excellent storage, varied and interesting choice of hot food in the mdr, good visibility of senior staff and great ports. The only negative was the parent airline, TUI. Not surprisingly we complained in being delayed by 3hrs and 20 mins on the return flight. We could see that the plane has been delayed due to problems coming from Florida before collecting new guests for the outbound flight from London to Dubrovnik, a fact confirmed by our pilot. TUI chose to treat us all like idiots and said they were delayed by Air Traffic Control. The fact is, they could not take off at 06:00 from London after arriving from the US at 07:30. No surprise then that ATC and the weather added additional delay. A great holiday marred by poor service from TUIs airline. Doubt we will cruise with them again.

We were disappointed by the layout of the ship. The dining rooms were quite awkward to navigate to and quite some distance apart. Our excursion to Lake Bled was horrific. We weren’t allowed to use the toilet on the bus. This resulted in stopping at a place where there were numerous buses all stopping to use the toilets at the same time. The queues for the toilets were so bad that we were 35 minutes late departing from that venue. This resulted in us having less time at Lake Bled and also less free time in the local village due to the guide asking us all to reduce our time there due to leaving the toilet stop 35 minutes late.She was worried we wouldn’t get back to the port on time. This resulted on not being able to eat lunch in the village as there was a waiting list in front of us for takeaways. We went the whole day without food. This whole excursion was extremely rushed and not an enjoyable day out. I was wanting to ask the doctor for advice about a bite on my leg. The receptionist said it would cost €150 as it was a private doctor. When I asked if this could be claimed from my holiday insurance she never answered me. I had to then sign a form stating that I wouldn’t see the doctor regarding the bite. I ended up going in to a chemist and bought cream for less than €10 on advice from the pharmacist. We upgraded to all inclusive 2 days prior to going on our cruise. However, we still had to pay for some drinks and also in some of the restaurant’s. We feel that this was a bit of con. We had to collect our luggage on arrival in Dubrovnik and take it to a vehicle. On previous cruises the luggage was transported directly to the cabin.

Marella has gone down dramatically in the past 5 years. Food is of poor quality & menus remain unchanged. Lots of additional extra charges. Need to introduce new itineraries.

Yet again Marella excelled !Having enjoyed about 15 cruises before with Marella/TUI we were not disappointed. Fabulous entertainment in all the venues great variety of quality food . Staff on Marella are always friendly and helpful this cruise was no exception, they all work hard with a smile. I must add how clean the ship was our cabin was spotless each day and everywhere around the ship was clean and fresh so difficult on such large areas Very good itinerary good trips available We will be booking again and would not hesitate to recommend Marella.
