Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 871 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the service, finding it unreliable and poorly organized, especially regarding booking processes and managing flight changes. Reviewers frequently reported issues with customer service, describing it as unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to reach a real person, often encountering staff who lacked empathy or proper communication skills. The ground staff and overall organization at the airport were also a major point of contention, with many experiencing chaos during boarding and a lack of assistance, particularly for those needing special accommodations. However, some people mentioned positive aspects, such as good in-flight entertainment, meals, and the professionalism of the cabin crew, with a few even having excellent experiences on multiple flights. Despite these positive notes, the overall sentiment points to significant inconsistencies in service quality and a general feeling of being undervalued as a customer.

Impossible to redeem vouchers.

I have been issued two vouchers with a value of 750 euros each for a cancelled flight. I have tried every way possible using the guidelines to redeem them and they will not process. I have used the feedback system with customer service and implemented everything they have recommended with no success. There is no phone number, no sales office - no other way to contact them and I feel duped.

I am reporting a major technical glitch…

I am reporting a major technical glitch in the Turkish Airlines app. While modifying my flight to Beirut due to the current crisis, the app explicitly displayed a blue banner stating: 'Your ticket includes the right to change your flight without fees'.
However, despite this written guarantee of 0 cost, the system charged me €1,677.04 for the transaction. I have a screenshot proving this contradiction: the 'Free of Charge' mention appearing right next to the massive charge.
This is an unacceptable billing error. I have already opened a feedback case (TK-XXXXX) and provided all visual evidence. I am still waiting for the full refund of this overcharge. Please fix this bug and process the refund immediately. PNR: TR35ZS."

Charged due to airline failure during disruption

I was charged €134 by Turkish Airlines to change my flight after a disruption, even though this type of change should be free.

My original flight from Tivat was affected and later diverted. At 03:00 AM there was no support available, the airport was closed, and their system did not allow a free rebooking. I had to change my departure airport within the same country to avoid missing another flight.

Later, their own staff confirmed this change should have been free, but Turkish Airlines still refused to refund the fee and gave generic responses that ignored the situation.

I ended up paying because there was no support and no working option in their system.

These guys are responsible for saving…

These guys are responsible for saving my entire trip.

Most airlines have 1-star ratings for a reason. Statistically, people only write reviews when something isn't working. Well, here's the opposite story.

I was on a long 25-hour multi-connection trip from Western Europe to Indonesia. When I stopped in Bulgaria, I accidentally missed my connecting flight to Istanbul, entirely my own fault. I was about to lose all my remaining flights, buy new ones for EUR 1,500+, and wait days to continue.

Instead, I went to Turkish Airlines customer service, where I met a guy called Osman. After a lot of explaining and insisting, he made an exception. We went to their private airport office and found a flight to Istanbul departing just 1.5 hours from that moment, and got me a spot on it. Not even that expensive, to my surprise.

He sent me off at the gate with a "good luck," knowing full well I probably wouldn't make the next connection in time. He had actually advised me against it. Little did he know, that flight we found together as a last-minute exception landed me roughly 20 minutes before my 10-hour onward flight from Istanbul to Kuala Lumpur. I couldn't believe we had rescued the entire trip, same day. Thank you.

Zero accountability. Rude staff

I have travelled to Turkey three times now to visit my sister, and unfortunately, I have not had a positive experience, especially as a Black traveller. My experience yesterday at Istanbul Airport was particularly upsetting.

When I arrived at the airport, people were still checking in for the flight. Shortly after, some staff approached me and asked where I was travelling to. I told them Lagos, and they said I was in the wrong queue and directed me elsewhere. I followed their instructions and waited again.

When it was time to tag my luggage as I had already checked in online, I was told once more that I was in the wrong place. Ironically, both the first and second locations I had been sent to were actually correct for dropping off my bag. Still, I was redirected again.

At the next counter, I tried to confirm if I was finally in the right place, but the staff completely ignored me. I was left standing there for about 20 minutes. With only 40 minutes left before departure, one staff member finally called me over, but instead of helping, I was kept there for another 20 minutes. Then I was told that the very first place I had gone to was the correct one, but by then it was too late to check in my luggage.

I was instructed to take my suitcase to passport control, even though it was clearly too large to pass through security. When I raised this concern, I was ignored.

A manager was called, but he was not helpful. He claimed I arrived late by four minutes based on camera footage, even though I clearly saw other passengers still checking in when I got there. It felt like they were trying to avoid taking responsibility.

This experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I have also heard similar complaints from others about poor customer service, lack of professionalism, and disorganisation at the airport.

Turkish Airlines lost my luggage and it…

Turkish Airlines lost my luggage and it took six days to receive my luggage. I had to stay in a city that I wasn't supposed to be in for a week waiting for my luggage and incurred a lot of unexpected expenses. I went through long process to try to receive some compensation and received an offer that was the cost of a nice lunch!!. And they didn't even send me the money. I Will never fly with them again.

Scam. A airline should treat its passengers…

A airline should treat its passengers with respect and efficiency, especially when things go wrong. Instead, I felt ignored and undervalued. I will be think twice before booking with them again and would advise others to be wary of their customer support if you encounter any travel disruptions. Airline full of scams.

Scam while applying ticket category!

Even though I bought a FlexFly return ticket, Turkish airlines is applying the ExtraFly status from the first flight claiming that they hold the right to apply the lowest ticket category in the booking when changing flights. This is total scam!

no customer service

If I could leave zero stars then I would.

Flights booked via a package holiday through Tui, seats were reserved for myself and my daughter as she is only 9, I then paid for seats so that my wife and son could sit next to us. There was a 10 minute adjustment to the flight time which Tui had to accept on our behalf, this removed the seats that were booked for myself and my daughter on all flights. Turkish Airlines are refusing to reallocate the seats that were originally booked and are insisting that we now need to pay.

I have raised complaints through Tui and Turkish Airlines, but both are being useless and unhelpful. As I have read on other reviews, Turkish Airlines don't seem to believe in customer service.

International travel inconsistent; senior services and expedited programs did not work in practice

Turkish Airlines offers an average overall experience. Cabin service was acceptable, and the onboard menu was one of the better aspects of the trip. However, international travel services were inconsistent, especially for senior travelers.
Turkish Airlines advertises services and priority options for passengers 65+, but these did not work as expected in reality. During online check‑in, the system does not allow entry of U.S. permanent resident information. The only options available are a visa number or a destination‑country passport. Entering a permanent resident card number under the visa section is not recognized by the system.
As a result, online check‑in was only partially successful, and the system did not allow issuance of a boarding pass required to use the advertised fast‑track service for senior passengers. Instead, we had to walk a long distance across Istanbul Airport with carry‑on luggage to a Turkish Airlines counter to print the boarding pass, then walk back again to the fast‑track area. For an 80‑year‑old passenger, this was extremely cumbersome.
It is also important to note that Global Entry and TSA PreCheck memberships do not work at Istanbul Airport. Even if your boarding pass shows TSA PRE✓, travelers are subject to regular security lines and screening procedures, with no expedited benefit. This is not clearly communicated to passengers and adds to confusion and frustration.
Additionally, Istanbul Airport advertises that passengers 65+ do not need to remove shoes during screening. In practice, this was not the case. At every security checkpoint, she was required to remove her shoes and follow standard screening rules.
Overall, many programs appear well designed on paper, but execution, coordination, and communication fall short. Clearer guidance, better system support, and more practical accommodations for elderly passengers are needed.Turkish Airlines offers an average overall experience. Very disappointed with this airline

Very disappointed with this airline! I've flown with them many times and, overall, think highly of their in-flight service, including food and communication with the flight attendants. However, this year they've changed the dates of my return flights twice already, affecting my work and annual leave plans.

NEVER AGAIN Turkish Airlines (THY)

NEVER AGAIN Turkish Airlines (THY)
03.04.2026 Taipei – Istanbul / Turkish Airlines (THY) TH0025 20:50
Never in the more than 50 years we have flown with various airlines have I experienced service this bad—or rather, service that basically didn’t exist—as onboard Turkish Airlines (THY) TH0025 from Taipei to Istanbul. On the 13-hour flight, the service was, for the most part, non-existent; the male flight attendants behaved like spoiled little princesses. They were arrogant and completely ignored any polite request. When the meal was served, you were handed a small paper cup with a tiny splash of wine or soda—about 50 ml. And if you were careless enough to ask one of the “princesses” for a refill, they looked at you as if you were completely imbecilic and ignored you entirely.
If you were then stupid enough to ask again when they came around with coffee and tea, you got an offended and rude reply—asking whether you couldn’t understand that they were in the middle of serving coffee and tea, and that they couldn’t go around serving everyone. One Taiwanese passenger got such an impolite answer that he was left completely stunned. After that, we did not see the flight attendants for the rest of the flight—until breakfast.
I have never in my life experienced flight attendants as arrogant and as completely indifferent as on this trip. It was painfully obvious that the male flight attendants simply couldn’t be bothered with their passengers, and that, as a passenger, you were nothing but a nuisance.
During the flight, the message “due to weather conditions” was played repeatedly, telling passengers to remain seated with seat belts fastened. There was some turbulence, but no more than there often is. It was painfully obvious that this was simply to keep passenger’s passive so the flight attendants could relax—which they clearly did. You could confirm this for yourself if you dared to ignore the announcement to go to the restroom. On the next flight from Istanbul to Copenhagen, they did the same thing, even though there was not a breath of wind and the plane did not shake once for the entire trip. So, this is apparently normal procedure at Turkish Airlines (THY).
Finally, it should be noted that Turkish Airlines (THY) charged a high price for the overall journey from Cebu in the Philippines to Copenhagen—about €1,700 per person for economy class.
Therefore, I cannot recommend Turkish Airlines (THY) in any way, and this was both the first and the last time we have flown with them.

Turkish Airlines delivers a smooth experience—just wish tighter connections got a little priority!

I had a really great experience flying with Turkish Airlines. Considering the current geopolitical situation, most of the flights were on time, which was impressive. There were a few delays, but overall, the experience remained smooth and comfortable.

One thing that stood out was the level of service—they still provide meals even on domestic flights, which is quite rare these days. The staff were consistently polite, helpful, and attentive. The aircrafts were clean, and the in-flight entertainment system was good and kept us occupied throughout the journey.

The food was decent. We had pre-ordered vegetarian meals, and while the taste was average—not exceptional—it was still satisfactory.

Overall, Turkish Airlines is a strong member of the Star Alliance network, offering connectivity to a wide range of destinations. I would definitely recommend choosing them whenever possible.

One suggestion for improvement—not just for Turkish Airlines but for all airlines—would be to prioritise passengers with tight connections during disembarkation. We had a 45-minute connection twice, and due to delays, it became very stressful. If passengers with onward flights could be allowed to disembark first, it would make a significant difference and help avoid unnecessary anxiety and rush.

Baggage Mishandled: Offloaded Without Notice, Zero Accountability

Very disappointing experience with this airline.
My flight was overbooked, and without any notice, they offloaded both of my checked bags. I was not informed at the airport and received no guidance on what to do next. I ended up without my belongings for six days, with little to no communication from the airline throughout.
To make matters worse, no one advised me to keep receipts for essential purchases, which later affected my ability to claim reimbursement. The entire situation caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience—all due to a decision made by the airline.
What’s most frustrating is their refusal to take responsibility or offer any compensation. Poor communication, lack of accountability, and disappointing customer service overall. I would not recommend flying with them. They don’t even deserve one star, if there was an option I would give them any stars

The more rudest, ignorant and cruelst staff I've ever dealt with

I have never in my life had customer service as bad and as disrespectful and as arrogant as Turkish airlines.
Absolutely shameful and disgusting.

Me and 15 other passengeres were rejected from entering our flight from Istanbul to Riyadh because your ignorant staff doesn't know the difference betwee a Saudi Single Entry Visa and a Saudi Multi Entry visa.

They kept insisting that the words "Return Date" should be in the Multi Reentry visa when this is not the case. We ALL have the same multi reentry visa! Are we all wrong and forging our documents??! Your staff had no ability to think or help 15 passengers who all missed their flight because of one word?! Shameful.

Above this they were extremely rude and aggressive from the start and were very cruel to even women and children. Raising their voices and not wanting to listen to anyone.

I hope I will never have to use your airlines again.
I've been stuck now in Istanbul airport for over 20 hours as a prisoner of your ignorance and arrogance and unhelpful, cruel behaviour.

I hope I will never have to use your airlines again.

I’ve never felt this frustrated dealing…

I’ve never felt this frustrated dealing with any airline before. My experience with Turkish Airlines customer service has been absolutely exhausting, confusing, and honestly unacceptable.

I contacted them well in advance to postpone my ticket and provided all the required documents, including a unfit-to-fly letter. Despite doing everything correctly on my side, I was given completely conflicting information by different agents. One told me my ticket had already been postponed, another said it hadn’t, and then I was told to wait for a “feedback team” that never got back to me.

I was rushed through calls, spoken to without proper care, and even had one agent hang up on me. I was also sent a document in Turkish that didn’t clearly confirm anything, and when I asked for a proper confirmation email or reference number, I was told they couldn’t provide one. How is a customer supposed to trust anything without written confirmation?

Now I’m being told I might miss my flight and will have to pay extra fees and penalties for something I tried to resolve days in advance. This feels completely unfair. It honestly feels like I’ve been misled and pushed around with no clear answers, no responsibility, and no proper support.

This whole situation has caused me serious stress and anxiety. Instead of helping, the customer service made everything worse. The lack of communication, consistency, and basic professionalism is shocking.

Based on this experience, I have completely lost confidence in Turkish Airlines. I would not trust them again with my travel plans, and I would strongly warn others to be very careful especially if you need any changes or support. This is not how customers should be treated.
