Had to chase
After submitting my application, I had to contact them as the account wasn't opened. It transpired they had lost/misplaced my application and therefore nothing would have happened if I'd not chased them. Apart from that the opening was fine.

I’m very pleased with my UBL ISA
I’m very pleased with my UBL ISA. Opening it was 90% straightforward but (of course) I had a few questions about process. While these were answered promptly I had a sense the responses were somewhat perfunctory (as in “close it quick and move on”). I don’t mind this but it tends to form a transactional relationship rather than the “valued customer” feeling.

UBL Account Opening Experience
Opening a UBL cash isa was more difficult than it should be after several attempts & discussions with UBL I decided to try my laptop rather than my iPad and this worked!
So on balance had I used my laptop from the off, it would have been simple enough, however, at no point did UBl state that there were issues using an iPad!

UBL offer attractive interest rates and a broad range of savings accounts - both ISA and non ISA. The process of opening an account via the website was reasonably easy and straightforward for an old fool like me and any difficulties I encountered were if no own making. I am still in my early days with UBL but am pleased to call myself a happy customer.

Confidence sapping experience
Tried to invest some money in a fixed term interest account with UBL who were towards the top of the recommended accounts by money saving expert. The whole experience was frustrating and confidence sapping such that we decided to transfer only a small fraction of the amount we had planned. We found the online app full of glitches, as well as the online account alternative, and there was a delay between us sending a small amount of money - to test that the electronic transfer was set up ok - and getting confirmation it has been received that we lost confidence and decided to use a different bank. At that stage we started reading other experiences and decided it was best to go elsewhere.
