Extremely bad customer service

Extremely bad customer service. This company believes it’s OK to send out a dirty and damaged awning with missing parts, they expect me to do some of the repairs and pay the manufacture to do the rest. Very disappointing, would not recommend.

Credit where its due

Credit where its due, bought my 2 previous caravans from UBC, looked for a coachman and shopped around for a px price on my swift, also advertised it privatley, i contacted ubc and told them the deal i needed to change over, John in sales team matched on the deal for us, coachman ordered from them, they let me use the swift while waiting the 12 - 14 weeks for the coacman to be manufactured..... collected the new van John gave me some reversing lessons too ... set off to put on our seasonal pitch , John called me in the afternoon to see if we arrived ok too, happy customer, thanks John .... I recently had my caravan serviced 5*

I recently had my caravan serviced and repaired at United British Caravans, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The whole process was smooth, professional, and handled with real care and attention to detail.
A special mention has to go to Rachel, whose customer service was absolutely outstanding. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and kept me informed every step of the way, making the entire experience stress-free and reassuring.
It’s not always easy to find a company you can trust, but United British Caravans truly delivered. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable service and excellent customer care!

Excellent Service as always

We have brought our Community Health Bus to United British Caravans a few times now. Sometimes for a quick job we have needed done urgently, or recently for more detailed 2 day work. They are always so accommodating for us, and staff are always going the extra mile. Excellent customer service! Would recommend to anyone

YETI stocking fillers

Popped in today for last minute stocking fillers (great variety of YETI). It was the companies Christmas dinner time I was made to feel very welcome and offered food and drink (non-alcoholic) felt like part of the family a great thank you to Ben, Tom, Alex and Val and many more who's names I can't remember. Brilliant company will be using again.

UBC Service Department performance much improved

I have bought my caravans and had them serviced and repaired by UBC for over 30 years ;and to be honest the customer service and quality of work has varied from year to year from disappointing to excellent to mediocre Over the last couple of years it has been sadly lacking on occasion with a new caravan lacking a proper pre delivery inspection with some obvious but annoying aspects not picked up and warranty claims not followed up or progressed and needing chasing up continuously. I wasn’t hopeful when I returned my caravan this week for rectification work. I need not have worried . A change in personnel seems to have got UBC back to their best . Rachel in Service Reception and the work shop manager could not have been more helpful or attentive . The work was completed to their former high standard and some items that had been overlooked by former staff were sorted and rectified on the spot with profound apologies not excuses.Looks like Shaun and Co have finally got a team together again that understand customer service means once and done, keeping the customer informed at all stages ,and making dealing with the company a pleasure - not the ordeal it has been on occasion.I now have a deal of confidence that my outstanding items will be dealt with as timeously as possible and that I will be informed of progress.

Tentbox

Visited today to enquire about a tentbox. All the staff where lovely and very knowledgeable showed me a great demonstration. Shop is huge and sold alot more than I imagined. Had my XL tentbox in stock and had it fitted before I left the shop. Very happy.

I visited United British Caravans last week for a service on my caravan, and I couldn't be more impressed. The team were absolutely fantastic – professional, friendly, and genuinely went above and beyond to ensure everything was done to the highest standard.

Not only did they carry out the service efficiently, but they also made some necessary repairs and provided clear, helpful solutions to all my questions. Communication was excellent throughout, and I felt confident that my caravan was in great hands.

I would certainly recommend United British Caravans to anyone looking for reliable, top-quality service. A big thank you to the team!

I have genuinely never encountered such…

I have genuinely never encountered such poor customer service from any company in all my life.

I took my caravan in early November 2024 for a repair. As I was in no rush I made the mistake of not contacting them until after Christmas.
When I contacted them for a update (1st week in Jan) I was told they had no record of my caravan and they were vague when I asked questions. I went up to find out what was going on, only to be met with an aggressive attitude and excuses. Two days later my insurance informed me that UBC had denied me service (this is after waiting 14 months for the parts to arrive from Bailey to fix my caravan.) How professional!

When I went to collect my caravan (plus the parts) they felt the need to barricaded me in until the parts were paid for. Nice way to treat a "customer"
Luckily I found a great company - Northern Caravan Specialist Ltd, who understand how to treat people in Seaton Delaval sorted out all my issues.
Will NEVER use again and will warn others - stay well away.

Bad experience

Bad experience! Trust and communication!

Took van for a service, to be told there is an issue with hand brake which they weren't sure what and my brake drums/ pads may need replaced. Ok no issue I just wanted it fixed give permission to order parts if needed. Need van back as going away the week after service.
Communication was terrible told one thing then this would change, had to visit to get update.
Told that I have to pay up front for parts, when previous got asked permission if needed could they order parts.
No idea what was happening, at this point I wanted my caravan back as I had lost all trust and faith.
I phoned up upset trying to find out what was happening and if I could take my van, told it's not safe, they had told me this from the start, there the experts so I excepted that. After a call told van was safe could come and collect it, changed me for 4 nuts! No mention of brake drums or pads need to be replaced!

I have since the had a mobile caravan business out from Ashington who has looked at my caravan who says I need a new hand brake and has cleaned my brake drums and pads.

Hi Angela, Very sorry to hear this confusion, however rest assured it wouldn't happen again as we have had a major overhaul of the service department recently because of a few issues. We have re-installed systems and processes plus had a change of personnel.

Had an issue with our bbq and we…

Had an issue with our bbq and we weren’t sure how to fix it. One of the staff, a lovely lady called Léonie I think helped us identify a broken regulator. Will definitely visit again/

Absolutely terrible company

Absolutely terrible company. Motor home under warrantry, they couldnt fix it, told us to collect it, they still claimed £700 from warrantry company!! Fantastic place in seaton delaval sorted it. DO NOT USE UBC EVEN FOR BUYING

You had our MH for months, we also have the woman on video telling my husband to f off & pushing him out of the door. You had £700 from warranty company for a job that didnt get done

This doesn't match our records. You simply wish to hurt the Company when your husband was aggressive towards a female member of staff and was asked to leave. You already left one review ages ago but think a second stab is warranted. It may well be misuse causing your repeated problems.

Credit where it’s due

Had terrible experience with the service department recently. Clearly being fobbed off, service done, issues found, no plan to resolve, when pushed to resolve, told a claim to be put in which wasn’t, then further messed around, requesting more pointless information. Not returning calls etc.

Decided to push one last time… entire staff has been changed in the last 2 weeks. What a difference! We could not have been better looked after. Staff couldn’t have done more for us, all issues fully resolved, spoke to a number of new staff while there and clearly problems have been identified and removed.

Credit it’s where it’s due, very much appreciated, and no longer dreading our next service.

Calor Gas cylinder exchange issue

Called in to exchange a 3.9kg Calor propane cylinder for a 6kg cylinder. They refused to exchange as it was "upon instructions from Calor Gas" that cylinders had to be like for like. When I showed the lady the Calor Gas webpage stating the 3.9kg and 6kg cylinders were in the same exchange group and could be exchanged, she still refused and said the Calor webpage was incorrect. The refusal of the employee to exchange was unbelievable..... she was right and Calor were wrong....apparently. No wonder people complain about staff attitudes. I went to Royal Quays Marina where they exchanged the cylinder without question. I know where to go in future.

**Update following UBC response. Having worked at a Calor Gas outlet myself I know the rules that Calor set. My point is it is not Calor who set the "like-for-like" rule as your Sales person would have me believe. It is UBC that set this rule for their customers, which contradicts the guidelines on the Calor website. I knew this, but having a Sales person tell me (incorrectly) otherwise demonstrates a lack of knowledge and the "we are right and you are wrong" attitude, even when I show the facts, is no more than ignorance combined with a touch of arrogance. Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore as I have a better and more cost effective supplier now. The matter is closed as far as I'm concerned.

Calor change their rules regularly to suit their situation. As a business we only exchange like for like to prevent any loss to the business regarding these cylinders as they belong to Calor not us. If they change the rules but we have inaccurate stock levels then we have to pay for the ones we are short, but they don't give us credit for the ones we are over. Sounds crazy but it is true! Apologies the person you spoke to didn't quite get it right.
