Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful and difficult to reach a real person, often being ignored or receiving aggressive responses. Customers frequently reported issues with staff professionalism, noting that representatives were often rude, unresponsive, and seemed uninterested in providing support, sometimes even blaming members for their problems. Many felt abandoned when they needed help, despite paying for years, and found that their grievances were dismissed or not addressed, leading to a perception that the service was a waste of time. Poor service

I was appalled by the standard of service received. They were not interested in speaking to me and were both undermining and disrespectful.

If I could give zero stars

If I could give zero stars I would, just spoke with the receptionist at Salford Unite named Julie and she sighed and huffed and puffed as I didn't know my member number. I was them told my membership had lasted and its not Unites job to manage my account its my responsibility solely, if she hadn't have said this in a condescending and derogatory way i would have signed back up. Julie is a receptionist and not an agent 🙄 remember your place and if you don't have customer service skills you shouldn't work in a customer facing role. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING and I hope UNITE speak with staff about how they interact with people.

I’m writing this review on behalf of my son , who has been in this union for a number of years , and when he needed them most he got a right jobs worth , with no people skills whatsoever was rude impatient and wouldn’t reply to emails . He’s completely in the wrong job, a horrible man . My son was just going to let it go and stop paying into it , but I can’t as he’s been paying that man’s wages for a number of years 😬

Toothless Tiger

Unite Union should be protesting against DWP attacks on the poor and the vulnerable. Universal Credit is a crime against humanity that will push people to an early grave or suicide. The DWP is ramping-up attacks on half a million disabled claimants and Unite Union is nowhere to be seen. Actions speak louder than words. Fact - Unite Union doesn't care about the working class.

I have been complaining to a colleague about this ‘organisation’ since March!
To read all these comments solidifies all my suspicions A DAM SCAM AND FRAUD going on! I have cancelled everything don’t even think to try and contact your representative within your work place- they too busy or don’t return emails.
It’s shocking this ‘organisation’ is still in existence!

Really bad, they're corrupted to the bones. They wouldn't give a d**n for employees but for the companies they supposed to negotiate with.
Do not subscribe with them, find another one.

No response from Unite Union regarding race discrimmination within NHS, they are an absolute disgrace, they have no motivation to represent individuals and they are stuck in a time warp from 50s and 60s it’s like watching an old black and white movie.

NOT A MEMBER

I first researched which group would be best for my line of work and circumstance.
I have a clear case of conspiracy and ageism ongoing with a bullying manager.
my complaint for a informal chat with a senior manager has been ignored.
£218.00 for a years membership is not a bad price, even if just for piece of mind.
Then I read though some of these comments, I will not be paying for futher ignorance.
I am so greatful to this site and the reviews for saving me money.

In line with the awful reviews below.

In line with the reviews below, if zero was on option I would of gladly selected it.
Theoretically I support unions given my socialist and Marxist leanings, however in practice the offices in the South East are staffed by rep’s & office staff whom are lazy, arrogant, incompetent, aloof and stunningly rude. In short a complete bunch of utter clowns. To make matters worse the grasp of the most rudimentary elements of employment law amongst reps is poor at best, the line, "unfortunately (insert your name), we have the worst employment laws in Europe", appears to be a go to, so much so that it must be utilised in Unite rep training/indoctrination. The subtext is, basically don't bother, but erm, don't forget to pay your monthly subs brothers and sisters. Thus if you are still clinging on to this organisation with an inkling of hope, I'd strongly advise you over familiarise with employment legislation, they certainly won't help you.
Do not waste your time or money dealing with this organisation.
I had the foresight to record a number of my calls both with the office staff and the regional rep for my own records and it makes for rather painful listening.

Unite signed a NDA

Unite signed a Non Disclosure Agreement, agreeing not to consult the workforce about transfers of employment and redundancies.

I lost my job with immediate effect with not redundancy pay or notice pay when I was transferred to an incorrect company.

Absolute disgrace

Absolute disgrace! 28 years in the Union and when you need them they can’t be bothered! Had to use my own solicitor because unite wouldn’t entertain any help until it goes to tribunal! Then when it was going to tribunal they said it wasn’t a good enough case for them to take on! What are our monthly fees for ???

One star is far to generous

One star is far to generous. Unite are a waste of time and money. Their reps and regional officers don't have a backbone. They work for the company I worked for. So there are lines they clearly follow. In both disciplinary and appeal hearing my representation was poor. As for legal advice that too was a joke. I was told that I could not have legal representation. 7 years at £16 per month. Unite are a joke.

The WORST UNION!!!

It was unfortunate there was no Zero. Extremely disappointed with the lack of responsiveness I experienced regarding legal advice requests. On multiple occasions, I have contacted the team seeking legal assistance, and each time I was promised a call back from a representative, which never materialized.
This consistent lack of follow-through and inability to access the support I was entitled to as a member is unacceptable. Due to this experience, I no longer feel confident relying on their services and I decided to cancel my membership and also requested the subscription fee for the month. The WORST UNION!!!

I'd give zero if it was an option

I'd give zero if it was an option.

Incredibly poor support, basically non-existent, fobbed off by the regional officer.

Left to fight a tribunal by myself.

You pay money and supposedly have support, legal if necessary, but it's all a lie.

This is from a strong unionised industry too.

Unite the Union is an open scam, fraud and crime. Never recommend joining them.

Unite the Union is not a union except acting like a mafia or cartel and procuring the employer instead of helping and protecting hard-earned employees.

I contacted Unite the Union as a premium-paid member, and Unite, the Union representative Karen, assured me that she would help me in the case and refer it to the relevant department. However, she knowingly used delaying tactics and assured me that she would get help and direct me to her colleague dealing with legal matters, and he could further refer me to a union legal firm.

After a struggle, I contacted the representative dealing with the legal issues, discussed my case, and requested legal assistance and representation. However, he knowingly ignored me, avoided response, and did not provide legal assistance and representation once I was forced to withdraw my case.

My case was about the unlawful dismissal, which resulted in the loss of three jobs and the inability to secure future work with all three employers, the National Probation Service. Sodexo Limited and Professional Security Services, aka Effective Security Limited.

All these employers are powerful corporations, including the governmental department, and the officials involved had legal departments and representatives, including Barristers and Solicitors, who defended them in the Employment Tribunal, whereas my Union did not provide me with any legal assistance and representation, which forced me to withdraw my case because I could not afford one privately.

The significant problem I faced was the biased attitude of the Employment Tribunal Judge, who had already decided to set aside my complaint and pass judgment in favour of my employers when she refused to accept my comprehensive formal complaint against my employers, police reports and other evidence.

Another problem was that my ongoing disability and health issues made things worse, which forced me to withdraw my case, even though I had sufficient evidence to prove them guilty and helped law enforcement agencies to punish them.

After that, I realised that I could not get justice as I belong to a Muslim ethnic minority; I have no right to challenge white people, white bureaucracy, or the white Judiciary.

My reliance on the Union was detrimental as Unite the Union was genuinely helping my employers succeed by depriving me of legal assistance and representation, which proved the Union was a part of the administration.

Unite the Union are open scammers and fraudsters who lure people to join them with fake and fraudulent services they offer when they advertise for membership. However, later in the time of need, they will never help you except by assisting the employer in succeeding.

A comprehensive review will be updated shortly.
