4 days of fun with Abdoul in the Sahara and Atlas Mountains

We had a fantastic Saraha Mini Experience with Untraveled Paths - led by the wonderful Abdoul! From the first minute we felt amazingly looked after and had the best 4-5 days travelling around, seeing amazing sights, trying amazing food and enjoying Abdoul's info about Morocco and his life and experiences. It was a trip of a lifetime and we could have asked for nothing more from Abdoul who took customer satisfaction to the next level - nothing was too much trouble. All accommodations and food were perfectly pitched, and the Untravelled Paths Admin Team ensured everything was explained up front and in clear language.

If I could give more stars I would

If I could give more stars I would. We have just got home from the Danube Delta Experience. The whole trip was outstanding in every way. The river, the flora and fauna we saw were way above expectations. Literally 1000s of birds: pelicans, eagles, yellow herons, night herons so many more. We saw wild horses in Letea and along the banks of the Danube. The Romanian people, who were our guides, were so friendly and knowledgeable and so happy in the work they are doing that it made the whole trip joyful. The hotels were fantastic, the food lovely. Seriously, we were so happy with our experience that we are already booking our next trip. Thank you Marius for all you did for us. Best wishes always. Patricia and Brian.

It was a great experience

It was a great experience. We were a group of 6 and that was very nice. The guide Marius made this whole think unforgettable. Very funny and helpful guy with tons of interesting stories during the trip. He was amazing. The Husky sledding itself was not what we expected. We thought we are stirring our own sled, instead we the two of us just sat in one sled and they stopped every 3 minutes. We paid the longer version which was way to expensive we realized afterwords. Other than that, the whole trip was a great experience, we loved it. Thank you Marius !!!

Grey Wolves Experience / Braşov

I recently travelled (during February) to Romania. Having originally booked to take part in the “Grey Wolf Experience”, with a little bit of research I decided to stay in Braşov for the remainder of the week.

When I was planning the trip, Marius from UTP gave me some great feedback & support to build up an itinerary & give some advice on travel / activities in the area.

I arrived in Braşov a day early & took a trip by train to the stunning Peles castle. This was a tremendous experience, I took a guided tour & there was so much history to learn, really fascinating.

The next day we set off on the grey wolf experience. Our guide, Cosmin, was a passionate lover of nature & hugely knowledgeable about all the local wildlife (hosting wolf and bear experiences). We travelled through several locations based on where Cosmin had previously tracked Wolves. He gave so many insights throughout the trip it was fascinating. He is also pioneering nature & nature tourism in such an inspiring way. As a ‘nerd’, I was able to ask Cosmin about all the wildlife, forests and Romania in general and he always had time to answer the questions of the group. He was also totally considerate of the group and their needs throughout.

The weather was mixed, it was quite heavy snow one day but it was so atmospheric. When I booked this trip I was looking for some time in nature, which I loved. I realised the wolves are elusive but one of our group saw them and e saw many tracks & heard calls. It was well worth it.

I had an ace time, as a Scotsman I wasn’t too bothered by the cold but if you’re from a warmer climate so check the likely temperature & bring plenty of warm clothes. We also stayed and ate in a traditional Romanian chalet so if you have any dietary restrictions I would suggest checking (it’s a rich diet, our host made our cheese amongst other things & the local tea was superb). All in all this trip was well worth it but I would say if you are travelling it would be good to give yourself time before this trip. The UK group members who arrived the day before all arrived around 8 PM & we were out 6 AM the following day. Flight & transfer from UK is quite long. A minor point but hope that lets you plan to maximise the experience.

On the remaining aha in Braşov I toured the medieval town, went Snowboarding at Poiana Brasov & on my transfer home Marius took me to the airport via Slanic Prahova (& salt mine I rode a go kart in!).

A great trip, recommend the experience and booking with UTP. All the best to Marius and his team & Cosmin.

4 day Transylvania Husky experience

I went on the 4 day Transylvania Husky experience in Feb 2026 for myself and my 8yr old. I don’t have a bad word to share as everything about the trip from my initial enquiry until I was dropped back at the airport was so well thought out and better than expected. I would say prepare yourself for long periods travelling between destinations but the transport was comfortable and I felt we got a real feel of the beautiful Transylvanian region of Romania. Being pulled by the husky’s in the deep snow was unforgettable and I’d recommend paying extra for the longer experience. I was impressed by the beauty of the towns we stayed in and the hotels were well selected to be in the best parts of those towns. I couldn’t leave a review without mention of our guide Marius. His knowledge and expertise was what made an already great trip excellent. He was patient, informative, knowledgeable and considerate. I always felt safe and well looked after. I will definitely book another UTP trip in the future.

Morocco in the winter

Your guide can make or break a trip and our guide Abdul was fantastic. He was extremely proud of his vehicle and kept it immaculate. He shared so much knowledge of his fascinating country and had a wonderful sense of humour.

The trip itself was really well structured and varied. We had decided to go to Morocco over Christmas to escape the chaos at home. It definitely did not disappoint. At first we stayed in a beautiful hotel called Hotel Capaldi (45 minutes outside Marrakech) for a few nights before the official start date of the tour. I totally recommend it. It was peaceful and relaxing with incredible staff. My husband and I also shared a hamman experience which we both loved. Then we went to Marrakech. We stayed in Riad Dar One which had a lovely authentic Moroccan vibe and wonderful staff. My only complaint is that it only had a bath with a shower hose that you had to hold over you while standing in the stone bath. The souks are bustling, noisy and chaotic.(watch out for mopeds and bikes). We ate at some fantastic restaurants but were happy the Marrakech part of the tour was short. Then we went over the high Atlas Mountains which were covered in snow. Amazing views. A wonderful stop at a fantastic gorge and a short walk. We then stayed on a beautiful farm in the Skour Oasis run by a lovely French couple. Wish we could’ve had an extra night there. Then onto the Sahara. That was a fantastic experience. We rode camels across the dunes into the setting sun. Our tent for the night was perfect. It had everything you needed and was really comfortable. Then back on the road through mountains again to a charming place called Irocha. It had fantastic views, lovely staff and delicious food. The only downside was that it was really cold and after a cold night in the desert we were hoping for a hot shower. It was tepid at best and the drain blocked to that we had to forego a shower. Our guide Abdul said we should have told him and he would have sorted it out but it was 10pm and everyone had gone to bed so we had just left it. The final stop was for two nights in Kasbah Bab Ourika. Beautiful location and wonderful hotel. Their were similarities between it and our first hotel and although Kasbah Bab Ourika had a slightly better setting the Hotel Capaldi wins it for me. All in all another fantastic tour with Untravelled paths. Great itinerary, lovely hotels (albeit a few minor glitches).
Huge thanks to Abdul our guide and his cheerful greeting to us each day “ Life is good with Nos Nos. “

We thoroughly enjoyed their Slovenia mini winter break. Spent new year in ljubljana, lake bled and spent a few days in the snow covered mountains at Logar Valley. We were well looked after by the local team and learned a lot about the history of the region. It was a great way to spend a few days in a beautiful part of europe and it lived up to the billing

Romania is certainly a very interesting Country, full of very friendly people, fantastic sites and sights. Without a doubt, what made it so fantastic was Dragos and his friendly demeanour, encyclopedic knowledge and outstanding customer care! I could wax lyrical forever here, but just hope you get the idea. I will certainly ask for Dragos in the future!

Beautiful Transylvania

We have just returned home from a family trip to Transylvania and words cannot describe what a fabulous time we had. This was a very last minute trip after my teenage son mentioned wanting to visit - so myself, husband, 2 teenage children and my parents decided to go on this adventure. We were recommended
To Untravelled Paths and they came up with a great itinerary for us which looked great. We started in Braşov where the hotel was gorgeous, a little boutique hotel in the heart of the city. The following morning we met our guide Marius who made the trip for us - he was so knowledgeable but also so friendly and fitted in so well with the family. He took us on a real adventure and on the first day he booked us a fabulous lunch in one of the most beautiful places we had ever visited. The second day was a road trip across Transylvania and we got to see some fabulous places - the chatter was non stop between us and Marius, which is so important when you are together for hours. He showed us some fabulous places and explained all the history in such a way to keep the kids engaged. Our final stop was Sibiu where the Xmas market had just opened, we had a great time exploring and eating in some amazing restaurants. I had never expected Romania/ Transylvania to be so beautiful but it is a must if you love beautiful scenery and cities. We will definitely be using untravelled Paths to book future trips as their knowledge and guides are truly exceptional !!

The Dracula Halloween Experience 2025 - An Extraordinary, Once in a Lifetime Journey!

For many years I've always had keen interest in Vlad Dracula's history and the places associated with him, so I was overjoyed when this long time wish became a reality and attend The Dracula Halloween Experience 2025 (31/10/25 - 04/11/25). Right from the very start Untravelled Paths made the event booking and arrangements extremely suitable and easy, with regular contact with Marius in terms of payment, itinerary and he couldn't be any more informative and helpful which put my excited mind at ease. Any queries or worries were sorted out quickly with professionalism and understanding.

Once in Romania, our group had Dragos assigned to us as our tour guide who was such a pleasure taking care of us. He is charming, informative, friendly and attentive. He honestly made the trip so enjoyable with his humour and approachable personality. The highlight of the trip, attending a Halloween Party on the grounds of Bran Castle! A once in a lifetime opportunity which I had so much fun.

Although some parts of the trip itinerary were altered due to factors outside of Untravelled Paths control, they were quick to reorganise appropriate alternatives which kept my history interest alive and was not disappointed in the slightest.

5/5 would definitely recommend and look forward to my next trip with Untravelled Paths.

Halloween 2025

Just got back from the Halloween Dracula Experience 2025, a truly amazing trip!

It was my first time in Romania, and definitely won’t be my last!

We got so much done in just a few days, but also had lots of free time to explore the cities.

Top highlight for me has to be the Halloween Party at Bran Castle!

The convenience of not having to worry about booking hotels and transfers as well as event tickets was so worth it!

Our guide Dragos was so much fun, knowledgable and a pleasure to spend time with.

I will have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Untravelled Paths to friends and family and will definitely be booking again.

Transylvania Experience

We have just come back from a week in Transylvania with Untravelled Paths. I would highly recommend both the country and the company. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, I have never been on holiday to Romania before, and we don't normally book guided tours. We were really impressed with the Transylvania Experience. The tour was well thought out with a variety of town and countryside, and the guide, Marius Macoveiu, was outstanding. It was slightly rushed at times, you can tell from the itinerary that they try to fit a lot in, but generally ran very well.
I am not quite brave enough to drive a car in Romania, but I previously thought about trying to do a similar journey ourselves by train. We would have missed so much if we had done this. Much of the interest of the tour is outside the major cities, and we benefited from Marius' knowledge and guidance. Simple things like the fact he knew where to park made a difference, and his explanation of the history and background of everywhere we visited was good. So I was very glad we booked the tour with UTP and did not try and do it ourselves.
The hotels were of high quality, and well located. The scenery was wonderful. I will remember the night at the Amfitheater for a long time.
The UTP website says "we never cancel trips". I was not quite sure whether to believe this when I booked, but I believe it now. They clearly did not get the bookings they hoped for on our week, but still ran the tour just for me and my wife, at presumably some cost to them. That is a company that takes care of its customers.
I would definitely book again with UTP, I just need to decide where.

Magical Trip

We just returned from an amazing trip to Romania/Transylvania. Our guide was Cristina and every part of the trip was easy and well run. It's the first time we've done a tour like this and to say our expectations were exceeded is an understatement.

If you decide to do a Romanian trip with Untravelled Paths and you have the opportunity to do any of the forest/hiking experiences with Cosmin DO IT, you won't regret it. It was the highlight of the holiday and a welcome change from the busy tourist spots of the castles/city.

The hotels were great and transportation/connections all good.

We're already planning our next trip.

Mini Sahara Desert Experience

We booked the Mini Sahara Desert Experience to travel mid-September. Booking was easy online and any questions prior to the trip were answered quickly. The experience booklet e-mailed before departure was full of very useful information for our first time in Morocco and detailed our trip day by day.
The trip was fantastic and very well organised (timing, lovely hotels, good stops for lunches).
Abdul, our guide, was extremely friendly, attentive, humorous and very knowledgeable. The views during the whole trip were stunning (mountains, oases, gorges etc). Abdul taught us many fun and fascinating facts along the way. It was like being with a friend. Although there was a lot of driving each day, his car was spacious and very comfortable as we were only 2 of us and another lady.

The highlight of our trip was our time in the Sahara desert. The camel ride to reach our camp was amazing. Peaceful, dramatic dunes, wonderful meal under the tent and lovely evening around a campfire with music and singing and an amazing sunrise experience the next morning.
We added 3 days in Marrakesh after our trip which we booked independently and we continued our fantastic experience there.
We will definitely book another holiday with UTP and I have already recommended the company to many friends.
