Had a fabulous trip with UTP once again. First time was to Romania and second (most recent) trip was the Puglia experience. So much lined up for us to keep us happy: pasta making class, bakery visit,... See more

Fantastic Ice Hotel Trip
I went on a recent Ice Hotel Trip. I love UTP for the great accommodation and friendly welcomes you receive along the trip at all the venues.
The ice hotel was once in a lifetime trip, made even better with great small group and fantastic lead Marius.
I booked a night extra which I would recommend just to settle in after the long journey.
The castles, hotels, tourist information and beautiful sites along the way were brilliant.
I've been on 2 trips with UTP, just need to decide which trip I am doing next with them.
A winter break in wonderful România with Untravelled Paths
I booked a week in România with Untravelled Paths to explore a country I’d never visited before with a guide. We saw castles, citadels, mountain lakes and beautiful towns. We went to The Bear Sanctuary which was incredible to see and hear about the work they are doing. We went Husky sledding. It was fun and the dogs were excitable and amazing. We also went to the Ice Hotel which was an experience and a half. Mario was the host and he made us smile. Standing outside in -10 degree temperatures while he played music to us. A once in a lifetime experience. The tunnel trek was great. We had amazing weather and came out of the dark 800 meter tunnel into the most spectacular scenery. It was breath taking. The food was excellent and portions were big. I found the people in România really friendly (or at least helpful if they weren’t overly friendly). I loved the architecture and the history. Our guide George was really informative and we loved hearing about what it was like growing up before they became a democracy. George was also the driver which I can honestly say that he did really well around mountain paths, traffic and narrow lanes. We were told to take cash to România but this is only really needed for tipping and the odd meal. You can pay digitally or with your card pretty much everywhere. The choice of hotels that Untravelled Paths chose for us was also excellent. It was a little noisy in Bucharest at night but this did not deter from the holiday. My favourite hotel was in Sibiu. It over looked the square and because it was pedestrianised, it was lovely and quiet. No car noise. The hotel in Brasov was lovely but unfortunately our huge upgraded room did not have a shower, only a bath. Again, this did not deter from our holiday but it might be worth checking. We came away feeling like we had done so much in just a week. I would 100 percent recommend Untravelled Paths. România in the winter is relatively quiet and beautiful. I’m so glad we went.
A memorable Transylvanian tour
A comprehensive tour with a wide variety of different experiences. Romania has beautiful countryside, dramatic mountains and picturesque cities. The food is plentiful, meaty and tasty. Untravelled Paths offered a great tour. We were well looked after by a knowledgeable, capable and fun guide. Marius brought this fascinating country to life and took great care of us.
On My Own but Not Alone in Morocco
I traveled solo for 15 glorious days in Morocco. I designed the tour on my own, but the UTP people turned my list of destinations and attractions into a seamless, stimulating, relaxing and fun adventure. The accommodations were in ideal locations, authentic, and welcoming. I enjoyed a traditional and delicious Moroccan breakfast each morning. My driver Abdul was attentive, responsible, trustworthy- he ensured that I was safe and arrived where I needed to be each and every day. But what I appreciated most about Abdul was his willingness to share with me his world- in particular the love for his country, faith, traditions and family. I miss him and I have been home now for weeks! Most of the local guides hired were knowledgeable, personable, upbeat and eager to enlighten me with information, sights, and experiences. There were a few times when I thought, "gosh why wasn't I told this ahead of time?", but those moments were rare. In Morocco, not everything is precisely predictable :). I had never heard of UTP when booking this trip. But this agency is now on my radar and I will contact them again when planning my next journey.
Transylvania experience
I must admit I was a little concerned when we booked this trip as I had never heard of the company before but so glad we went ahead! Christina, who was our tour guide, was so friendly and knowledgeable. Being the only two on the trip she adapted some days to suit us which gave us extra experiences.
Only downside which nearly cost a star hear was there was a marathon running in front of our hotel on our day of departure and no-one had thought to rearrange pick up place for the taxi (it could of been taxi companies fault, i dont know) but was a shame to have a very stressful end to a wonderful trip that went so smoothly.
Certainly a place to visit! And wouldn't hesitate to recommend untravelled paths for the adventure.
Would highly recommend!
We booked onto the Brown Bear Experience in Romania very last minute. The communication from the start was excellent but the absolute highlight of our trip, from a tour operator perspective, was the flexibility and attitude of Cristina, our guide. When things didn't go exactly as planned, Cristina was always up for finding a solution and going the extra mile to make the trip memorable. her recommendations were extremely pertinent and really added to our trip. Romania was beautiful and the people we engaged with warm and welcoming. A couple of pointers: the bear hide is not really suitable for high grade photography (due to tinted glass), therefore probably worth highlighting this to avoid disappointment. Also, for the castle tours, it would be worth providing the different options as there were a number of routes/additional extras that could have been chosen if they were known about. Altogether, we will absolutely choose to travel with Untravelled Paths again and would recommend them to others.
Dolce Vita Puglia experience October…
Dolce Vita Puglia experience October 2023..... Just wow. we had an amazing trip with Untravelled paths and our Guide Marius was exceptional full of lots of Information and historical information on the tour and areas we visited. We really enjoyed all the hands on parts of the tour and the pasta making, Winery Visit, Oliver Tree Farm, Bakery Tour and more pasta making with a very charming local lady in Bari. I would recommend this tour to anyone who really wants to see the best of the region and unique experiences along the way and have a guide on hand for help when needed. This tour offered plenty of free time and included activities. The accommodation was perfect in each location and traditional properties directly in the main area/town. If you are reading these reviews like I did and to get confirmation on the trip. Don't overthink it and BOOK it, The best trip we have taken in a while! Big Mention to Marius our guide who was AMAZING.
The Transalvanyia experience
The Transalvanyia experience
This trip has been full of surprises and excitement.
From seeing wild bears , driving on famous roads , staying in some fantastic accommodation to visiting royalty homes .
UTP know how to create an amazing holiday experience which was complimented by our Tour guide Cristina who was brilliant, funny and very knowledgeable , nothing was ever too much trouble for her and our driver cipri .
UTP have helped us to create great memories and new friendships and we will definitely be looking to book another trip in the near future.
As one person posted 5 stars are not enough definitely a 10 out of 10 for me.
Transylvania with UTP - amazing experience
The UTP tour of Transylvania was an amazing way to experience a country new to us. We had some great opportunities to see many different places and guided by the fabulous Christina we learned so much! The accommodation was as diverse as the country and always of a high standard but if I had to choose a favourite it would have to be Viscri 125. Christina has a wealth of knowledge and experience and nothing was too much trouble. She went above and beyond to ensure we got the very best out of our trip (I did manage to try all the local foods before we left) and with her bubbly nature and happy smile she was a pleasure to be around.
We will definitely be travelling with UTP again and can highly recommend the Transylvania Experience to anyone who is looking so visit this wonderful part of the world.
Puglia Experience
We had been to the Ice Hotel with Untravelled Paths and had an amazing holiday.
So when we booked to go to Puglia in September 2023, our expectations were high. And we were not disappointed. We had an excellent experience from the itinerary, places visited, tours with superb guides, pasta making for our own three course evening meal, wine and olive oil tasting, to the different accommodation including a trulli and a cave, and the incredible service of our Guide Marius. He was available 24/7, very knowledgeable, a great sense of humour, nothing was too much trouble and we felt safe in his hands. He made each of the eight people in our party feel important.
We will certainly be travelling with Untravelled Paths again and can highly recommend their holidays.

10 stars Transylvanian Experience
Just returned from our Transylvanian experience, and what an experience it was. All your needs are catered for from start to finish.
Our guide was the effervescent and always smiling Christina who went out of her way to make sure we had a great time. Nothing was to much trouble and we followed her recommendations so had a wonderful meal in Terasa La Cuptor in Sbiu and the cocktails in the Wizard bar (not the actual name) in Bucharest were amazing.
All our accommodation was of a great standard but I must mention Visci 125, what a beautiful place, quiet and tranquil with amazing traditional food. One tip, try not to eat to much at lunch so you still have room for the evening meal.
Finally despite the dreadful weather coming back from Balea Lake we got to see beggar bears thanks to Christina and Chippy (not the correct spelling) our wonderful and safe driver, it was such a special experience.
I can't recommend Untravelled Paths enough and can't wait to book our 4th trip with them
Danube Delta Experience was a brilliant…
Danube Delta Experience was a brilliant adventure, managed expertly by a great team!
From airport transfer to Bucharest, to meeting the host James, everything went like clockwork.
It was a 7 nights trip, with the first and last day in Bucharest (accommodation in Rembrandt Hotel) and 5 nights in Danubes Delta.
Rembrandt Hotel is a quirky, grade 2 listed building in the heart of the Old Town. We had a large double bedroom with an additional single bed at the front of the hotel, 3rd floor. Lovely views to the lively Strada Lipscani, with bars and restaurants and great atmosphere until the small hours! (bring ear plugs or ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you are easily disturbed by noise).
The following morning we departed for the Delta, 4 hour transfer to Murighiol, where we were picked up by Ionut, our guide to the marvels of the Delta, Europe's largest remaining natural wetland area, UNESCO site and Danube Biosphere Reserve.
Ionut Calin is a qualified ornithologist with a Masters Degree from Seville and a true master of the secrets of the Delta. Bird watching and boating is a must on the canals and waterways of the Delta, and Ionut made it an unforgettable experience.
Accommodation was in Sf. Gheorghe for 3 nights (Green Village, 4 star resort) and 2 nights in Crisan, Delta Boutique Hotel, also 4 star.
Food was excellent throughout. Try the speciality fish soup called "Storceag", amazing taste!
We had several day trips organised as part of the package, including a wonderful sunrise trip to where the Danube flows into the sea, with unforgettable views of the sun rising from the sea, and several other trips to areas of interest in the Delta!
Apart from the local food, trying Romanian local wines is a must, expect to pay around £20 for a bottle of wine in the 4 star resorts, but you can buy a very decent bottle of wine from supermarkets for around £5 (make sure you also buy a corkscrew as most bottled have corks rather than screwtops).
Most places accept card payments, including in the Delta, but is useful to have cash just in case.
Make sure you take tropical strength insect repellent and wear long trousers and long sleeves in the evening, as mosquitoes are obviously and unfortunately part of the experience!
Overall, this was a trip of a lifetime, expertly managed, excellent overall!
Thank you very much for a brilliant adventure!

Why isn’t there another star ⭐️!
Why isn’t there another star ⭐️!? We have just returned from Romania having completed the Transylvania Experience. From booking to our final trip back to the airport, Untravelled Paths were excellent to deal with, professional and prompt in their responses to my questions. The actual trip was beyond words. We stayed in the most beautiful accommodation either in convenient locations in towns, or in remote places that have you a sense of peace. We saw brown bears, amazing towns and lovely villages. However, this trip was made even more special by our wonderful tour guide Cristina. Not only was she incredibly informative and helpful, but her warm and sparkling personality made this a once in a lifetime adventure.

Mountain hiking and brown bear experience!
Our trip was fantastic, we loved seeing Romania, it's brown bears and mountains, it is such a beautiful country. Cristina, our guide made it such a special experience for us: guiding us to some amazing hiking locations in the mountains; great recommendations on where to eat, drink and visit in Brasov and Budapest; entertaining stories and local knowledge; and such good fun to be with. Thank you so much!
Great tour guide,
Great trip, many memories
Many memories. We were lucky that we got on really well with the other couple on the tour. Marius our guide was very knowledgeable. Had a great sense of humour & put up well with us four. All hotels were good, some a bit quirky. Enjoyed everywhere we went. Great wine. Highlights were the bears & the cows coming home! Cant thank Marius enough for his kindness. He drove us many miles. Very patient.
The tour guide transilvanya
The tour guide and the trip to the various breath taking views around Transilvanya.
Marius the guide tour leader was exceptionally helpful and made sure that the old grumpy boys. Definitely was a real gentleman to the two beautiful ladies.
Every day the adventure got better and better. The mountains and seen the bears in the wild would be unforgettable. I love it all. Thank you Marius and the group.
Beautiful Romania with Marius the Magnificent
and my husband (Alexandra and Joe Ellis) have just come back from a trip to Transylvania with Marius. The trip was amazing, beautiful places, great myths and legends and very well timed and spaced out.
What a great guide we had in Marius. He was just great, we gave him the nickname of Marius the Magnificent! He was so affable, friendly and easy. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt entirely looked after.
He gave us loads of info, not just about places on the trip, but about Romania in general and was happy to answer every question we threw at him. He laughed and joked with us and made us so at ease. He messaged me each day just to say good morning, what a lovely gesture. He also messaged me to make sure we had been picked up on our last day and asked me to pass on his regards to the other couple with us. What a lovely guy.
We want to pass on our thanks to Untravelled Paths for a fabulous trip but especially to Marius the Magnificent for being the most perfect guide.
Thank you very much our lovely Marius the Magnificent, you were an absolute treasure.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Marius.
Alex the Late and Joe the Sulky
(He will know what that means!)
