After 7 good years, its sadly over

I have been with Acorn for seven years and until now couldn't rate them highly enough. Unfortunately i believe they have been bought out by a corporate and it has gone to hell in a hand cart.
Their new third party call handling is shocking and compounds all their now apparent staffing issues. I was not aware or this when i had an issue with my dog this week. After 3 calls and 30 hours of waiting i received a text message saying call tomorrow for an emergency appointment. I immediately went to another vet and was seen within 3 hours. Very sad to see a good surgery collapse.

All the receptionists and the male vet…

All the receptionists and the male vet spoke to my sister in a disgusting manner when she was just trying to explain the misinformation she was told the week prior, she could hear them talking about her in the background when she was talking to the vet and they were extremely unprofessional and hung up on her twice one by the receptionist as she was mid talking and one by the vet. Would not recommend the most unprofessional phone call I’ve heard in my life! If I was higher up management I wouldn’t want employees like that they are severely damaging the business.

I honestly don’t know where to start

I honestly don’t know where to start — I’m still reeling from my phone call with Acorn Vets.
My daughter bought a puppy from a breeder in Brighton, and Acorn provided the first vaccination. The second was included in the purchase price. When I called to book, I was told by Taylor that the vaccine could only be given one day either side of the 28th day.
I explained that we live 90 minutes away and that, due to my son’s special needs, I can only travel on Fridays. Despite this, I was told that if the puppy was even one day late, it would not be covered from illness and its insurance would be invalidated. I have three dogs and know this simply isn’t true.
I called the RCVS for clarification, and they advised me to ask the practice to put these claims in writing. I will be interested to see if they respond.
What shocked me further was being told by Taylor that I could “take the puppy to another vet if I liked.” I found this cold, dismissive, and unprofessional. The recorded message on their phone line says they don’t tolerate aggressive behaviour from clients — which is fair enough — but perhaps they should also consider the passive-aggressive behaviour some clients experience from staff.
This whole interaction has left me disappointed and disheartened. I had hoped for professionalism, compassion, and support, especially when dealing with new puppy owners. Instead, I came away feeling dismissed and unheard.

TERRIBLE-UNPROFESSIONAL-THIEFS

A vet in training administered to our lovely cat some eye drops that made him blind. We not only didn't get any compensation, but also needed to pay for the drops and the treatment to try to recover his eye sight, which he never recovered.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE

As traumatic as is it to realise that it’s time to have your pet be put to sleep, Acorn Vet surgery made it even more traumatic for us as a family to put our beloved pet to sleep, there was ZERO compassion or dignity involved and felt completely let down by their service. They made the whole situation EVEN MORE EXCRUCIATING for us they should not be allowed to put pets to sleep when they clearly have no capacity to take care of us as owners / dogs. The surgery needs to be reviewed by a governing body to see if they are even able to practice there that’s how bad it was. A formal complaint will be made as we do not want this to happen to another family.

OUR PUPPY ALMOST DIES FOR OVERDOSE

DISGUSTING - AVOID
Too many UNPROFESSIONAL vets, every time we have a different one. Our puppy has been poisoned for being administered a higher dose of drugs and the vet has charged us with working out of ours rate.
We will never come back again. Our puppy almost dies.
They are THIEVES and don't care for the animals.

Simon and his team are amazing!! and…

Simon and his team are amazing and actually care about the animals they look after. After having a poor experience at current vets, we were recommended to Simon to fix a problem that has been going on for nearly a year and still not sorted. Even after the first visit to Simon today we felt extremely confident that Teddy was going to get better really soon, For the first time, Teddy actually really liked Simon and he made an effort to get to know him and look at him properly. Simon explained everything to us and we felt so happy Teddy was going to start to feel better. Thank you so much we are so happy we moved him to Simon and really regret not doing it sooner!!
