Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our cat cut his leg and had to visit the emergency vet on Saturday, £313 just to see him.... £56 for a bandage how do they get these prices??? It wouldn't be so bad but the bandage they put on was a much use as a chocolate fireguard! Now I know an emergency vet costs money but the vets at St George's are somehow coming up with these prices and preying on the fact you know they have to be seen... but still after a final bill of £470 our boris is now on the mend, I'm not gonna say thankyou for being financially raped by the vets. I'm not even gonna recommend them, I would say find a cheaper alternative. Co they guys know how to charge over the top prices

We had to unfortunately have our elderly dog put to sleep as an emergency case in the early hours of 08/09/24. I cannot fault the vet and nurse that we saw. They were professional and compassionate throughout.
Unfortunately the aftercare from the service is absolutely appalling. I still don't have my boys ashes home 17 days later.
I have made multiple contacts to enquiries, complaints and via the online chat. Yesterday morning I was advised that his ashes would be back at the clinic yesterday afternoon and that I would receive a call yesterday evening from the clinic to confirm that I can collect them.
As yet..... Nothing!
The compassion for us as owners and dignity for my deceased pet is non existent.

Explained everything that was going to happen and very caring through out my time there

I brought my doggie in for a check up and a prescription for medication. I also asked the vet to check my dogs ears as he was scratching. The lady who examined him was quite accusationary and suggested I "plan better" when it comes to his meds (I agree) however she offered me 3 tablets to get us through until his meds arrived and charged me almost £30 for 3 tablets, when I get 180 for £46 online. Then she proceeded to ask me how long his ears have "been like this?" When he was examined there not 2 months ago for the same thing and his ears were "fine". I think the customer service is going downhill and the prices are going uphill rapidly. Nearly £200 and I was in there 10 minutes. Shocking.

We had to attend St George's in Wolverhampton out of hours with our Golden Retriever, Lily as we thought she had had a stroke. We were greeted by a veterinary nurse who was lovely and we saw the vet, Tori. Again, she explained everything in detail and reassured us that she believed Lily had vestibular disease (vertigo). She was so kind, reassuring and professional.

Although the vet was extremely good and helped my pet, I feel that the out of hours charge was excessive and charging me £25 to process my vet insurance excessive too. I would give the vet 5 stars but the overall experience 3 stars. I feel that the charges are completely over the top and stopping people from having pets. I’ve had pets all of my life and now I can’t afford them because of the excessive vet charges. It’s sad.

Speedy service and professional, they really help but the cost is back breaking and feels like people are taken advantage of financially because it’s out of hours. They know people are venerable with a sick pet after hours but still charge £239.00 consultation before any treatment, and I’m still waiting for them to put my insurance claim in which again cost me money for them to do. If someone isn’t well off they would probably lose their pet due do the unmanageable cost for this out of hours service.

Helpful and caring also very transparent about the consultation fee's prior to the visit. Would highly recommend.

The quote I was given before attending said all prices included var. Yhey didn't.
Also I cannot understand an extra charge of £17 was billed for prescription handling.
The fees are extremely excessive

I have emailed my complaint to Vets Now
Have a read disgusting experience.
To whom it may concern,
I wish to raise a complaint with yourselves regarding the passing of my dog Jack Abraham. The complete lack of compassion and sympathy and knowledge and communication through-out this ordeal has been an understatement of emotion and feelings towards myself.
This situation was one of the worst ordeals I have had to face in my life and I cannot believe the lack of customer service your company has for paying customer’s and there pet’s it is totally disgusting.
I had to have my boy put to sleep by yourselves during the early hour’s of Saturday morning whilst the vet at the time was considerate and understanding of the circumstances she informed me that my dog would be able to be collected later that Saturday morning and that someone would contact me to tell me when he was ready. I can also clarify that my friend Nicola Corfield was there to witness and can state what we were both told with regards to what would happen to my beloved soulmate and best friend Jack in returning home to myself later that morning.
Whilst I waited all morning for someone to call me whilst dealing with the pain and heartache of losing my boy I had no call, so I rang through myself and I spoke with a guy named Lance who informed me that this information shouldn’t have been told to me and he explained the correct procedure that it could take upto 10-14 days and that I will get a message when he his ready for collection. I could not believe what I was hearing the fact that I was truly grieving and still am I was told I had to wait upto a further 14 days for my dog I was truly horrified whilst lance was apologetic and claimed to have understood how I felt has he had four piglets (as he wishes to call them) of his own. He informed me that he would contact me on the Monday the 1st July at 18:00hrs he promised me that he would but unfortunately that call never came he said he was going to inform me of the next steps with regards to the company that come’s and collects pets for cremation.
Finally a message came yesterday 9th July 2024 stating:
Further to our recent communication with regards to the collection of your beloved pet's ashes from Vets Now Wolverhampton, please follow the link to access opening hours.
Please telephone us in advance of your journey.
I can inform you I had never received any communication at all and also after clicking the link it informed me that opening times were between 9:00-17:00hrs so therefore after receiving the message at 18:24 you were closed. So then I clicked on the chat and was then told it was unavailable at this time, so therefore I contacted the number to then be passed onto St George’s Wolverhampton after being asked questions of well where is your dog now.. like I’m supposed to know to then be put through to receptionist Chrissy who as no personal skills whatsoever when I’m asking her if my dog is their and am I able to collect him. She may not have understood my ordeal of how this situation as all been dealt with but after explaining to her that I was going to complain she say’s well what do you want me to do about it!!
So on collecting my beloved pet and after paying £726.00 for the ordeal I get my dog and Chrissy says sorry for your loss!!
Im honestly mortified of the lack of professionalism of your company whist you are all paid a lot of money for your services by Animal loving customer’s there could be better procedures put in place and communication and empathy for customer’s.
So this is why I write to you to compensate me for this ordeal of how unprofessional your coming as treated me at one of the saddest times of my life the stress of all this as affected me in ways you would not believe whilst having to deal with losing my beloved boy.
I shall also had that a review will be put onto social media for all to see and I shall also contact the Vets Association as I do not wish for any future customer’s to be treated in this way after losing members of there family.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Miss Zoe Abraham

Please review my complaint.
Blossom morgan . Case ID attached.
To wait for a complaint to be reviewed and ongoing for 3 months is unacceptable when you put my dogs life on jeopardy failing to diagnose her . A simple blood test but no vials. Resulting in emergency surgery.

Terrible vets practice. Avoid at all costs. Had to take my dog there after a concerning episode early hours of the morning. Information shared was unclear and they kept trying to add additional extras as soon as they knew I had pet insurance. They took details of the pet insurance and said they would file a claim. I was told to ignore any letters I might receive from vets now regarding an outstanding balance. The information shared with me was incorrect and to add insult to injury not only has my dog passed away since the appointment but I am now getting debt collectors letters. Terrible service all round and misinformed about the insurance process. No longer have insurance as pet passed away but due to it being such a small amount I wouldn't rather have paid it than have to go through further stress of debt collection.

Friendly front desk.
Vet extremely thorough in explaining what the issue was with my dog. Helped in what to expect from her over the next few days. Felt like they cared about my dog

Nurse triaged my dog, sprayed some numbing stuff on his lose toe nail and gently pulled it off, job one.
