The food was delicious

The food was delicious. Especially the pastries! it was great to have cookies available all the time too.
It was great to have “included” excursions, but there was not enough time to truly enjoy some of them. It would also help to have a bus with two doors because with so many physically challenged people it took a long time to exit the bus with limited time to see the sights. The tour guides were good too.

The staff was excellent

The staff was excellent; our housekeeper Joh was solicitous and friendly. The food was very good, and I appreciated the reasonable size of the portions. The bartenders were attentive and delightful. The excursions were very good; I particularly enjoyed Mackinac Island, Duluth, Marquette, and Green Bay, plus the Frank Lloyd Wright house in Muskegon. We really enjoyed the band and were very impressed with them, Mickey Lyons' talks were lots of fun and very informative.
The Great Lakes were beautiful at this time of year--we're from Maryland, and it was like experiencing spring a second time! And we really lucked out with the weather.
The only problem I had was with the size of the cabins--they are very small, and there aren't many other places that are quiet where one can go to read, write, or just be alone.

Visiting the western Great Lakes with Victory

Visiting the Great Lakes upper Peninsula is interesting and worth doing but not more than once. Victory II: very good food, good service except for in the Lounge and Tavern ( drinks are included so, evidently, no need to have any servers asking if you want one) and the excursion director was clueless. The clientele was pretty advanced in age ( maybe late 70's average). Most of the excursions were very lame (visit a small maritime museum and briefly drive around a 2,000 person town), although the Green Bay and Muskegon railroad museum, botanical garden and vintage ship visits were very worthwhile. Of course, those were the excursions spotted very little time ( even though we were overnight in Green Bay and had plenty of time). The absolute worst excursion was the $139 per person Taste of Lake Superior, in Sault St Marie, which hinted at a walk with a guide along the shoreline but was, in actuality a short trip to a city park where we sat at a picnic table and were encouraged to ask the "guide" about what it was like to live in a small town. The hous? The band was very good ( actually really good for a small ship) but listening to them play covers 14 nights in a row was a little boring. The stateroom was fine. The onboard lecturerer wasnt an expert, just a guy who had done the cruise a lot. Overall, I'd rather tour the GL with the 150- person Victory ship than a bigger Viking ship but I probably wouldn't cruise with Victory anywhere else.

Love the personnel on board

Love the personnel on board, the onboard excursions and the food. I would however eliminate on the Toronto to Chicago trip the pre trip excursion to Kensington Market. The area is not safe area for seniors, and the area is not clean and tidy

The crew and food were wonderful

The crew and food were wonderful. The tours were a waste of time and not unique. Most of the tours could be experienced in or close to my hometown. The train excursion was a total rip off. First class dome car with canned alcohol and cheap charcuterie while possibly 30 seconds of scenery.
You really should have included the longer immersive tours as complimentary. Only Mackinac Island was a worthwhile site. I felt like I wasted a lot of money and vacation time taking this cruise and would NEVER recommend it.

First Time Victory Cruise of an Experienced Cruiser

The entire crew were outstanding and made our experience feel personalized and truly cared about. The ship was very well maintained with a warm and inviting environment. Cabins were cozy and comfortable. The bar staff were professionals in mixology and accommodating to any requests. Dining room and Grill servers were eager to make sure we had a good dining experience while enjoying varied delicious meals. We appreciated mostly healthy choices and appropriate serving sizes. Larger appetites could always ask for more and any special needs were accommodated.
While included shore excursions were available in all ports, some lacked the depth of experience I anticipated. For example, in Muskegon, MI, the trolley could have taken a little extra time to point out some of the well known historical and cultural sites of the small city area before dropping passengers off for self timed visits to a couple of historical homes. Other excursions seemed rushed when a little more time was needed to truly understand and explore.

The staff was terrific

The staff was terrific. They seemed happy working on the smaller ship and it showed. The meals and service was also very good. Being on a smaller ship was a big plus. I would recommend Victory to everyone.

Feels like family-an extra-special cruise on Victory 1

We loved every minute of our Victory 1 cruise to all 5 Great Lakes. The entire staff was amazing! From our wonderful cabin steward Fathur to our amazing dining staff (we always sat in Tyrone's section for dinner - and Maria's for breakfast!) and the servers in the Compass lounge (especially Sara!) we were really well taken care of. The musical talent of the band was superb - what a fun, variety of musical programs that had us on our feet every night! These talented musicians also were great hosting the various activities during our times at sea. Our Lakelorian, Will, was also an unexpected gem --his programs were very interesting and we looked forward to them daily. The food was excellent, as was the wine selection. . The variety of places we visited was great-a favorite being Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but Milwaukee was perhaps the most surprising location - what a beautiful, vibrant city! We will definitely be sailing with Victory Cruise Lines again!

My wife and I really enjoyed the "small ship" experience. The high crew to passenger ratio ensured that the service level was second to none and that no need or want was left unmet. The quality and variety of the food onboard was excellent and the wait staff especially "MAX" made sure that every meal was beyond expectations. The itinerary was unique and the shore excursions were interesting and well planned. The only negative would be the cabin size especially the tiny shower, although I must say that the cabin despite it's size was comfortable and our cabin steward "AMALIAH" took excellent care of us.

It was perfect

It was perfect. On board it was like a five star hotel where everyone is treating us with kindness, helpfulness, and becoming part of the victory family.
The excursions were well planned.
I have recommended them before and after..
We look forward to sailing with them again.
