Terrible airlines

Terrible airlines. Delaying, funny rules that I can’t have my small bag chest with me on my chest at emergency exit. No respect about to customers after delaying. Highly don’t recommend this airlines.

Extremely Disappointing and Zero Compassion in a Crisis

We had a deeply disappointing experience with Vietjet Air.

Our flight from Bangkok to Phuket (VZ 2304, March 1st) was booked well in advance for our family vacation. However, due to the war situation between Israel and Iran, Israeli airspace was officially closed and our international departure flight was cancelled. As a result, we were physically unable to reach Thailand and therefore could not board this domestic flight.

This was clearly a force majeure situation — completely beyond our control.

Despite explaining the situation and providing all relevant details, Vietjet Air refused to offer any assistance. No rescheduling option. No credit. No partial refund. Nothing. Just a strict and cold “no-show” policy, even in the middle of an international crisis.

Airlines show their true values in moments like these. Flexibility and basic human understanding cost nothing, yet the company chose to hide behind rigid rules instead of supporting customers facing extraordinary circumstances.

The financial loss is one thing — but the complete lack of empathy and unwillingness to even consider a solution is what truly disappointed us.

I strongly advise travelers to think carefully before booking with Vietjet Air. When things go smoothly, maybe it’s fine. But if anything unexpected happens, do not expect understanding or support.

Very disappointing experience.

Big delays without prior notice

Delays without prior notice. Both my flights were delayed by 2 hours 'due to late arrival of plane' while the flight duration is less than an hour. No water or anything offered for the delay.

Very poor customer service and refund handling

My experience with VietJet Air has been extremely disappointing.

I requested a refund months ago and was later informed that the refund had supposedly been processed. However, no money was ever received, and despite multiple follow-up emails, customer service stopped responding entirely.

What is most frustrating is the lack of transparency and professionalism: instead of providing clear proof of payment (transaction ID, date, or receipt), they shift the burden to the customer and then go silent.

This kind of behavior shows no respect for passengers and creates unnecessary stress and wasted time. A refund process should be clear, traceable, and supported by responsive customer service — none of which I experienced here.

Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend thinking twice before booking with VietJet Air, especially if there is any chance you may need assistance or a refund.

Middle name First name Scam

I booked a flight from Chiang Mai Thailand to Teko Intl Airport in Cambodia on Viet Jet Air on 24 Feb 2026. Date of travel 02 March 2026 round trip returning 11th March 2026. On the initial page of the flight purchase 'see attached screens shot' it asked for 'middle name, first name' and then in another box for last name. I paid 9987.92 Thai Baht.

I received a ticket reference number H7C4U3 on my email., 24th Feb 2026. I include a copy of that ticket. Normally any airline sends an email 24 hours prior to the flight for online checkin. I never received that email so I called Vietjetair Thailand. 02891909 and spoke with Nita who insisted that I would need to pay an extra 2,800 baht to change my name. And that she would send me an email to conform, which she never did. This is obviously a scam. Reddit has many comments on their forum about this.

Gate Check Near Departure Led to Same-Day Baggage Delay

On 23 February 2026 (Flight VJ461, Hanoi to Can Tho), I was requested to check in my carry-on baggage at the boarding gate when the flight was almost ready for departure.

The baggage was accepted by the airline at the gate but was not transported on the same flight due to operational cut-off timing. It arrived several hours later on a subsequent flight.

The delay occurred during a business trip and disrupted scheduled morning meetings, as essential clothing and work items were in the delayed baggage.

While the airline cited baggage size policy and timing rules, I believe that once baggage is accepted at the boarding gate, responsibility for same-flight transport should reasonably rest with the carrier.

As the delay was under 24 hours, no compensation was offered.

Pathetic check in service.

Pathetic check in service.. Not sure if the inefficiency is because of the staff or the administration. When I walked in to Danang airport for a domestic travel, the queue was never ending. Heard people are standing for hours waiting for their turn.. as a first timer to Vietnam, I found this to be a nightmare which otherwise was a great trip to Vietnam .

Very satisfied :)

We cannot relate to the largely negative reviews. During our extended round trip through Vietnam, we frequently used VietJetAir as our means of transportation and were very satisfied with the punctuality, quality, and service. The information provided via email and the online check-in process also worked smoothly and reliably.

Despite Tet (when it is well known to be much busier), the waiting times were always short and, as mentioned, we were very satisfied and can fully recommend VietJet without hesitation.

(I am also writing this review because I was briefly discouraged by the negative experiences before our trip. However, there is absolutely no reason for that.)

NEVER USE THIS AIRLINE TO CONNECT TO ANOTHER FLIGHT.

We booked 3 flights with Vietjet. 2 of the flights were changed multiple times weeks in advance then again the day before and on the day. The 3rd flight was changed twice 24 hours before and then on the day. On top of this ALL the flights pushed back late. In total a delay of over 11 hours over the 3 flights. I investigated why we had been moved onto another flight - the email said ‘operational’ reasons. When I checked the status of the original flight that I was booked on, it was still operating with seats available but selling for a much higher price. This seems to be their business model - if the flight you have booked on becomes popular then you will be bumped off it so they can sell your seat for more.
One of the flights was over 4 hours later than booked and this is supposed to warrant a credit for another flight. When I applied for this they just sent me an email saying - ‘refused’ and no explanation. I’m not that bothered as I never want to fly with them again anyway.
NEVER USE THIS AIRLINE TO CONNECT TO ANOTHER FLIGHT!
Good points - flights were actually ok once we left. Staff onboard were friendly (unfortunately not so at the airport).
2 stars for getting us there safely without losing our bags.

Vietjet's operational procedures should be illegal

In Nov. '25, Vietjet let us book tickets from Da Nang to Da Lat, Vietnam. Four weeks before the flight, they send an email saying the flights have been cancelled because the airport in Da Lat will be closed for 5 months (!) for improvements. In fairness, Vietnam Airways did the same with the flights out of Da Lat that we also booked in November. First issue: the airlines didn't know in November that the airport would be closing? Why did they allow us to make the booking? I suspect so they could collect our money and earn interest on it. In the same email, Vietjet provided a link to request a refund. Why wasn't the refund automatic? When we used the link it only provided options to get a flight credit, which would be useless to us since we don't intend to travel to Vietnam or the areas they serve in the foreseeable future. So, I needed to find a phone number to call. Of course, no one was reachable via phone. Then, I found a customer service email address. I wrote them an email. It took them 7 (!) days to respond. Despite having explained I wanted a refund to the original form of payment in my first email, they required me to respond to their email to confirm that. They say once I do that, they'll refund the money in 45 (!) days. So, they will have my money for four months in total for a service they knew they couldn't provide when they sold me the ticket. I wonder how many other people on those flights will completely lose their money because they give up due to the multiple steps required to get a refund for tickets that should never have been issued in the first place. Is anyone else hating all the corporations who are able to take advantage of customers without any repercussions?

0 Stars

I wish there were an option to rate 0 stars, because even 1 star is too generous for VietJet Air. Online check-in was pointless since the queue was mixed with regular check-in, and the staff were rude and uninformed about basic visa rules. I was wrongly told I couldn’t fly visa-free to Malaysia, only for them to Google it and realize I was right after causing unnecessary stress.

Charged for a mistake their own website caused 😳

I booked two tickets on Vietjet's English-language website — one for myself (European name) and one for a local Vietnamese passenger. My ticket went through without issue. My friend's ticket was flagged for a name correction, and I was charged a fee.
When I raised a complaint, Vietjet's own support agent confirmed in writing that (1) I had followed the English-language interface instructions correctly, and (2) the booking page presents conflicting guidance — the field layout suggests one order, while the "(as in passport)" note implies another.
In other words: their English-language interface fails specifically when booking for Vietnamese passengers, yet they charged me for it. The system seems to work for most Western names but breaks for the very passengers their airline primarily serves.
I have the written confirmation of this conflict from their own support team. Despite this, they refused a refund up to now - the case is still pending. I am now pursuing this through third-party complaint channels.
Vietjet — this is your opportunity to respond publicly and do the right thing: refund the fee and fix the interface. Thank You! 🙏

Absolutely appalling!

Absolutely appalling!! The trip out took off an hour later than expected. The trip back 2 hours later than expected. No apologies, absolutely disappointing experience. On top of that after waiting hours to board and to take off, you don’t even get offered any water!!

I had booked a flight from Udon Thani…

I had booked a flight from Udon Thani to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. When I arrived at the airport, I discovered that my flight had been cancelled without any prior email notification.

I had an international flight departing from Suvarnabhumi Airport, so this situation was extremely stressful. A staff member from VietJet tried to find a solution for me, but the only option offered was a later flight landing at Don Mueang instead of Suvarnabhumi, which would have caused me to miss my international flight.

As a result, I had no choice but to purchase a new ticket with Thai Airways (Thai Smile Airways) in order to arrive at Suvarnabhumi on time.

The VietJet employee asked me to complete many documents in order to receive a refund for the cancelled flight. However, more than one year later, I have still never received any reimbursement.

As a frequent traveler, I have decided that I will never fly with this airline again.

DO NOT use them ever

Absolutely horrible experience. The flight was originally delayed for an hour and a half, then delayed again for another hour and a half, then yet another hour and a half, with additional waiting on top of that. The total delay ended up being over six hours, wasting an entire day at the airport.

There were no clear updates, no proper announcements, and the gate kept changing with no explanation. Customer service was useless and showed zero concern for passengers. You are left completely in the dark while time just keeps slipping away.

They charge for everything, yet fail to provide the most basic service of keeping customers informed. When I finally tried to get a refund after hours of delays, they suddenly claimed the plane was on its way. Total chaos and extremely unprofessional.

This airline is the Spirit Airlines of the U.S., but somehow worse. Read the reviews. There is a reason they are consistently rated one star. This is without question the worst airline I have ever flown, and I have traveled all over the world. Do yourself a favor and book with another airline.

One of the most stressful airport experiences I’ve had

I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience was too serious not to share.

At the airport, we encountered a baggage issue while checking in for our VietJet flight. While we were still trying to resolve the situation, the check-in counter was closed without any clear warning. We were then told that we would not be allowed to board unless we made an immediate additional payment on the spot.

We were not given a reasonable opportunity to review the charges, repack, or consider alternatives. The situation felt extremely pressured, as the only option presented was to pay immediately or miss the flight entirely. Faced with losing the trip, we paid under protest just to be allowed to board.

After returning home, we contacted the airline multiple times requesting a fair review of the incident. Despite providing details, the airline rejected our request and closed the case without offering any meaningful resolution.

This experience caused significant stress and left us feeling that we had no real choice as customers. It also raised serious concerns about how situations like this are handled.

Based on this experience, I would strongly advise travellers to consider alternative airlines. I will not be flying with VietJet again and would personally choose a different carrier in the future, even if it costs more.
