Pretty decent package holiday but expensive with limited support and engagement
We booked a holiday to Romania with Viva Holidays and recently returned from the trip.
Overall, we enjoyed the holiday itself and had a good time in destination. However, our experience with the booking process and the level of service provided left us disappointed.
After confirming the booking, we received the travel documents but did not have any further proactive contact or support before, after or during the trip.
We also had concerns regarding aspects of the booking, including an additional charge applied when changing a flight option. In addition, during the booking process we discussed the hotel accommodation in Brașov and understood that we would be allocated a 4-star room within the hotel. However, on arrival we were placed in a 3-star room which had more limited facilities and access than expected (for example, no lift access and no in-room safe). While the hotel itself is rated as a 4-star property overall, the room allocated did not match what we believed had been agreed during the booking conversation, as we had specifically discussed this situation.
In addition, shortly after making the booking, we compared the total cost of the package against independently booking the same flights, accommodation, and car hire. Based on prices available at the time, the difference was approximately £400.
While we understand that package holidays involve supplier rates and service fees, in our view this additional cost was not reflected in the overall experience received, particularly in terms of the level of communication and customer support before, during, and after the trip.
We raised these concerns with Viva Holidays and received a detailed response explaining their pricing structure and booking process. While we appreciate the response, we were ultimately not satisfied that our concerns about the overall experience and value were fully addressed.
Based on our experience, we would encourage future customers to carefully review what is included in the package and consider the level of support they expect when booking through a travel agent, and whether this represents good value compared to booking independently.

While the hotel itself remained a 4-star property overall, we completely understand why this particular room allocation did not meet the expectations discussed during the booking process. We are raising this matter with our supplier to better understand why this occurred and to help prevent similar situations in the future.
We also acknowledge your comments regarding the overall value of your package. As outlined in our previous correspondence, our package pricing reflects not only the travel components but also supplier agreements, financial protection, and the services provided throughout the booking process. We appreciate that you may have found alternative arrangements independently; however, we respect your perspective and thank you for sharing it.
We have reached out to you privately to discuss your experience further and, as a gesture of goodwill in recognition of the unusual circumstances surrounding your room allocation, we hope to restore your confidence in travelling with Viva Holidays in the future.

Fantastic service - Pankaj was a superstar!
Pankaj looked after me from my very first phone call last year as I wanted to plan a twin centre holiday for a special celebration. AVOID at all (extra) costs
AVOID! I've tried to book with them twice in two years (through Secret Escapes) and they have refused to honour the price on both occasions. On both occasions they wanted to increase the price by around £400 and blamed the change in price on an "update error" both times having originally framed the increase in price as offering "better flights", which I declined and they still wanted to increase the price on the original flights. They are still yet to email confirmation that they have actually cancelled my latest booking.
My original review was first flagged as 'not from a real customer' to which I provided customer reference number (despite the fact they could check name and email address in their system). My review was then removed because I gave my opinion about their business practice.

As flight fares and hotel rates are controlled by third-party suppliers and can change rapidly, there are unfortunately occasions where the original package price is no longer available when our reservations team attempts to secure all travel components. In such circumstances, customers are always advised of the revised options and are under no obligation to proceed.
Having reviewed your latest enquiry, we can confirm that no booking was ultimately confirmed, and a cancellation request was submitted on 23 April 2026 before any travel arrangements were secured.
We appreciate that this situation has been frustrating, particularly given your previous experience, and we sincerely apologise for any disappointment caused. Whilst situations of this nature are uncommon, customer feedback is extremely important to us, and we continually review our processes to further improve the booking experience wherever possible.

Amazing vist to Canada
The holiday was planned by Vaibhav and I told him just what we wanted, he didn't try to influence my choices and we had the holiday we wanted. The travel plans included train journeys and shuttles and we were a little apprehensive but all went to plan with detailed instructions for each journey. The hotels were all good too, especially the one at Niagra Falls where we had an amazing time.
