Extremely Disappointed – Discriminatory and Unprofessional Service at Vodafone Newbury (Northbrook Street)
I had pre-ordered my phone online and completed all necessary steps to ensure a smooth in-store collection. Unfortunately, my visit was anything but smooth. Upon arrival, I was made to wait over an hour, only to watch a man who arrived after me—who happened to be of a fairer complexion—get served before me. This felt like a clear dismissal based on my appearance, which I found dehumanizing and incredibly disrespectful.
What’s even more unacceptable is the baseless suspicion I faced regarding the legitimacy of my identity and address. Despite providing full proof—including ID, my banking app, and debit card—I was still treated with suspicion and accused of potential fraud, simply because I live in a well-regarded area. The implication that I was falsifying information was offensive and rooted in prejudiced assumptions.
To add to the discomfort, an advisor was visibly laughing at another customer who struggled with English and was trying to communicate via phone with her husband. The lack of professionalism in this store is appalling.
When my mother stepped in to assist with my case, the store manager responded rudely, telling her she was “talking too much” and that it was “his turn to speak,” in a dismissive and unprofessional tone. Neither the advisor nor the manager could give a clear or justifiable reason as to why I was being denied the phone I had paid for.
Throughout this entire ordeal, I remained calm, respectful, and patient—but the treatment I received was discriminatory, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.
Vodafone Northbrook Street is in urgent need of new management, staff training on professionalism, and education on racial sensitivity and customer service. I will not be returning to this branch and sincerely hope that Vodafone takes complaints like this seriously.

On 24th May I topped up my pay as you go mobile with £10 using the internet. I gave my card details and was successful. Instead of receiving the usual Vodafone confirmation I received one from ''prepaidmobilerecharge.com'' On checking I discovered the the original balance had disappeared and my balance was £10. Was I scammed. On speaking with Vodafone it turned out that because another company used what appeared to be the official Vodafone web site I had been tricked into giving scammers my Debit card details. Posting my complaint on to the scam website ''prepaidmobilerecharge.com''my rating was changed from 1 Star to 4 stars

Today I decided to switch from BT to…
Today I decided to switch from BT to Vodafone. I booked the transition online and it all felt very simple.
I booked my new broadband and installation date for 13th April .
Went to checkout gave all my bank details and that was confirmed by my bank .i had a booking reference from Vodafone confirming my booking. Only to receive 4 emails and one text to say complete your booking. The £60 voucher they also offer seems some what misleading as when I try to retrieve it it’s asking me to rebook my broadband
I tried to call Vodafone to verify this and there system and chat phone etc is apparently down .
Wish I’d never have bothered can’t do with the stress .
