I redently purchased a Sportage GTLine which was nearly two years old. The whole experience was generally fantastic, only let down by slow response to post purchase query on battery caution indicator... See more

My name is M Ahenkora Mensah and I am submitting this as a result of my recent experience of customer service at Wessex Garages, Penarth Rd, Cardiff.
I was dealt with by salesman Dillon Yeo. I was impressed with his presentation, product knowledge and subtle charm. I first met him on Thursday and by the following Tuesday morning I was driving away in a new Kia EV5 GT Line. I would not hesitate to recommend Wessex cars in general and Dillon Yeo in particular.

I am incredibly disappointed with the service at Wessex Garage. I booked an official 8:30 AM appointment specifically to speak with an engineer. When I arrived on time, I was dismissively told the engineer was unavailable because he was "busy." The staff showed zero sympathy, zero understanding, and absolutely no accountability for doubling-booking or ignoring my appointment time. It was a complete display of bad manners and poor customer service. An appointment is a commitment, not a suggestion.
I wrote a review about the great experience I had at Wessex Gloucester buying my Qashqai +. Today I had reason to speak to Dan about a problem with Nissan Connect Services . Once again I was really impressed with the professional way Dan explained everything and showed me how to correct something I had pressed . Dan and Amanda after sales service are excellent .
This is Wessex Gloucester.
I've had good experiences here in the past so this disappoints me to write, but the handling of my most recent visit has been unacceptable.
My car was booked in for gearbox work and a few other jobs, I was told it would be a couple of days. Fine, I understand it's a big job. The problems started when I had to chase for an update myself late on Friday, only to be told at the last minute it wouldn't be ready and they needed to keep it over the weekend. Four days without a car is an obvious inconvenience, but I was told it would be sorted early the following week so I wasn't going to be too annoyed at this point.
I called Monday and Tuesday early to mid afternoon to give them time to reach out first. Both times I was told someone would check with the workshop and call me back. Neither day did I receive a call back.
On Wednesday I refused to get off the phone without an answer, and was then told the guy that does the gearbox is off all week and the car wouldn't be ready until the following week. How they can take a job knowing the guy is off for a week and not let me know is beyond me. I could have taken this to another garage and not had weeks of inconvenience.
No courtesy car was offered, and because of the bank holiday weekend I now have no choice but to hire a car at my own expense for a camping trip we had planned. The only response I got was an acknowledgement that it was unacceptable and an apology. Which at this point is too little too late.
It may well end up two weeks without a car. I'm pretty angry and annoyed with the whole experience and wont be using them again.
Edit: It ended up taking over two weeks. Thursday the 28th would have marked two full weeks. In all that time, I only received one proactive call from them — the Friday afternoon call at 4pm finally telling me it was ready.
I called multiple times throughout the week asking for updates and expressing my concerns. Every time I was told they “understood” and that a manager would call me back. No one ever did.
I’ve now reduced my rating to 1 star. It’s quite ironic that the first thing you hear when you call them is how much they pride themselves on customer service. If they actually lived up to that, this would have been so easily avoided. All it would have taken is a quick phone call to keep me updated and set realistic expectations.
Bottom line is I wont be using them again.
The staff they were trained professional and how to deal with customers in a polite manners
Really good service and the staff are so polite and friendly. Special mention for Craig and Hamid who were so helpful.

I know that this excuse for a professional company, had my relations car for 7 weeks. It took them that long and much 'scratching of heads' to find it was contaminated spark plug being the reason it didn't start. They invoiced her close on a grand ££££ for the privilege. Do not go to this garage. Not in a million years. Incompetence at its best.

Very pleased with our new Sportage from kia in Newport. Great service from Connor. Couldn't fault him at all.

I have used them now for two car PCPs. First time was Kia Bristol and second time was Nissan Cardiff. Absolutely amazing both times. Customer service is wonderful and they have guided me through it when I have had questions as it was my first time. Love my Qashqai which was delivered personally by Ieuan. As a single woman they weren't patronizing which so many places are! I had my kia serviced at the Gloucester branch and they have always been amazing as well! Highly recommend Wessex :-)

6 weeks wait for diagnostic!! My wife's car, a Sportage still under warranty, showed a yellow engine warning light in late March. I contacted Gloucester who couldn't carry out a diagnostic check until the end of May. Bristol are carrying out the check on 7th May. The car is desperately needed - we live in the countryside with no bus service and my wife suffers from heart failure - all of which I explained when attempting to set up an appointment. The AA advised not to drive the car other than to a local (1 mile away) specialist exhaust company, Interpro, who confirmed that a heat sensor was at fault. I await the diagnostic test by Wessex and repair so that my wife can be mobile again. I will update this review on 7th May !
MAY 7:
Problem identified: faulty heat sensor as diagnosed by Interpro on 8th April. Item not in stock so ordered. Cannot be fitted on 8 May as Wessex Bristol are busy and as we are away on holiday in the UK from 9 May, the car is booked in for 19th when we return. I will now have to go about hiring a car for the week 9-16 May.
WHAT A FIASCO WESSEX GARAGES.
Friendly staff who go above and beyond to make sure your experience is good.

I bought a vehicle from them and had a flawless experience, especially with Ross from sales. He went the extra mile by sending a detailed video highlighting everything I wanted to see. He took the time to explain all the details, answered all my questions thoroughly, and was refreshingly honest when something didn’t match my expectations. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and the vehicle was in perfect condition. I also appreciated that no additional products were pushed on me when I wasn’t interested

Nissan Patchway are an absolute disgrace. I dropped a car in for a service and MOT to then not see it for 5 months. Jordan the service adviser speaks to you like you are something that came off his shoe and then sends a bill for £1850 without even a call to explain what its for. Don't buy a Nissan, in 4 years it has been in for warranty work for around 18 months, service staff are terrible and they really don't care at all.

I had an outstanding experience with Jafor while purchasing my car. Going into the process, I had very little knowledge about how car buying works, but he immediately put me at ease with his friendly and approachable manner. From the very beginning, he was incredibly patient, taking the time to walk me through each step in a way that was easy to understand, without ever making me feel rushed or overwhelmed.
What really stood out was how thoroughly he explained everything, from the paperwork and financing options to the features of the car itself. He made sure I fully understood my choices and was always happy to answer any questions, no matter how small.
It genuinely felt like he cared more about helping me make the right decision than just making a sale.
Jafor also went above and beyond when it came to accommodating collection. He was flexible, organised, and made sure everything was ready and straightforward on the day, which made the whole experience completely stress-free.
Overall, his professionalism, patience, and attention to detail made what could have been a daunting experience feel smooth and even enjoyable. I would highly recommend Jafor to anyone looking for a trustworthy and supportive car salesman.

Just completed purchase of used approved Kia from Bristol Feeder Road location. Whole process managed very professionally by Haris Muhammad. Clear explanations at all stages. Kept it all straightforward and simple. Good communication throughout.

The experience at Wessex Garages Newport was excellent. Andy M, the salesperson, dedicated his time and full attention to us throughout the entire process. He was thorough, attentive, and tailored everything precisely to our needs.

I purchased a used KIA car from their Newport showroom, and was looked after principally by Mo, who could not have been more friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, which has made the whole process a pleasure. Communication has been first class, as has after sales advice as we negotiate our new vehicle. Many thanks.

The level and speed of customer service with this company is appalling. Still waiting for a response from an email sent over a week ago. When I deal with the local branch they dodge certain questions over th email, I get passed between people and they also are very slow to reply. I will be complaining directly to Kia UK about this company and their poor levels of service.
