Outstanding service during unprecedented times!
Outstanding service even at Easter bank holiday weekend amongst the ongoing corona outbreak. Following a power cut at our new property, we called western power and Got straight through to a lady called Susan who was fantastic. Their engineer then arrived at within half an hour and had the fault found and rectified in minutes. Business as it should be, thank you so much.
Had a power cut this morning
Had a power cut this morning, called the helpline and a man answered my call promptly, the engineers came out and within an hour the power was back on, as promised they checked I had power. Thank you to all the engineers and especially Kev Beck.
Western Power in the wrong hands
This company has dismissed sure claims of electrical surges that have not only damaged equipment in the house over the last year or more but also caused extreme-levels of electrostatic to build up over the course of the last four-to-five years leading to emergency situations, and despite persistent emails letting them know, failed to take responsibility for their part of the problem, this inclusive of extremely high-powered equipment, and installation of dodgy-wiring that I believe to be the root-cause of the electrical problem linked to the whole building, Western Power not running as extensive tests next-door compared to those carried out at our own address.
Ombudsman Services set up thus far obviously calling down complaints in collusion with the company.
Enough evidence to go to court. If / when the government stops the time-window loop-hole for public services to jump through in response to abuse claims then maybe people will get the opportunity to sue them.
They have contributed towards making life most unpleasant through their criminal negligence in the loss of five years of my life - the time having had to be spent concerned about a building that is a fire-risk and consequences of ill-health, and pain from the effects.
It is about time that public services were run by people who understand that such positions should be applied for with an underlying sense of responsibility towards the general public, this rightly manifesting into the practical upkeep and maintenance of infrastructure with health and safety standards as priority.
I continue to try and get the communist (socialist) set-ups of ombudsman services to take serious note of a thoroughly drawn-up request for investigation into Western Power.
Might update this review with more detail at some point. But to sum up, that this particular form of 'western power' is obviously in the wrong hands.
Well Done Western Power!
Over 160,000 homes reconnected over night after storm Ciara, Brilliant!!!
Charge more than service provided
I had a service alteration done through them. They didn't clarify what they will be doing and won't be doing at the time of our contract. After the payment had been done, the day of the job had arrived, that's when they decided to tell me that they won't be carrying out half the job. They charged me £1500.00 just to carry out half of the job I had asked them to do. I wouldn't recommend them or any of their services to anyone.
Credit where credit is due
Credit where credit is due ! We had a power cut in my area a couple of days ago ,I rang a free number which was answered straight away ,with clear instructions as to where problem areas were ,I was then transferred to a member of staff dealing with matters , very professional and friendly ,explaining every thing to me about the problem in terms that I could understand clearly ,as I don’t have any knowledge of electricity supplies ! I was then given a ref number which logged my call and subsequently had a couple of calls from them after keeping me well up to date with the progress of what was going on ,which was a major problem but got sorted as quickly as they could . Excellent service from start to finish ,Well Done Western Power !
Excellent service
Excellent service, called up and within the day service engineers were out and fixed our power. Super lovely friendly staff and an excellent service. Thankyou.
Found an issue during a rewrite
Found an issue during a rewire, polite, fully informed and worked hard to sort the issue, 7 hours later on a cold Saturday all sorted, thank you
What a tonic
What a tonic! Joe handled my call; a request to fix the meter door that had been weather-damaged. He said a team from Western Power would aim to fix it within 10 working days.
The team completed the task within four days; and then there was a call to check all is good. It is.
Air source heat pump issues
We have had around 5 outages and surges in the last few weeks. Spoke to an area manager who said the helicopter would be booked to survey the overhead lines as somewhere in the system a tree branch or something similar is causing problems. The 7 houses in our development have electric air source heat pumps and the last 2 surges have put 2 neighbours air source heat pumps out of action with £1000 bills to repair and replace circuit boards. Western power say these devices have built in protection so they are not responsible. If they did have built in protection they would still be functioning! 5 of us are having surge protection put in at £300 per house to offer protection from future outages. In the meantime we have to put up with regular interuptions to our supply and cover the cost of damage to our equipment. I wonder if other customers have similar experiences?
Personal power cut dealt with quickly.
Power went off. Checked with neighbours and checked my own system. Obviously power not coming into the property so made contact with customer service. From here processes were put in place to reconnect. Altogether took about 6-7 hours which, considering the distance various workers had to travel and the work involved in digging up two pavements etc, was completely satisfactory. Impressed.
without electricity for over 6 hours…
without electricity for over 6 hours yesterday yet their customer services representative thinks this is acceptable absolutely useless!!!!!!!!!!!!. they send out emergency generators @ 9.30pm what a waste of time!!!!!!

We phoned on an awful day as the pylon outside was sparking. The lady on phone was excellent - polite, helpful and knowledgeable. Little expecting anyone out that evening due to the weather, etc. We were absolutely amazed to have the pylon fixed within hours. Absolutely first class service and everyone was so helpful
A rare case of excellent customer service
From the instance I reported a fault to western power in Plymouth, both the staff on the emergency call handling and the local repair crews were on the case immediately fitting monitoring equipment, visiting and carrying out checks on the underground cable until the fault was traced. From making the call to finding the tricky intermittent fault, just over a week. Kevin Tucker kept me fully informed throughout.
Many thanks.
What a great service!
Had intermittent power cuts when the weather was very windy. Reported the issue to Western Power online and a crew of two guys arrived in less than 2 hours and were at my house all day. After doing their checks they called out a high voltage expert and even suggested that a generator would be provided for us if the problem couldn't be fixed. The issue was diagnosed as a failed cable that runs into the actual house and consumer unit. This has now been replaced and power is back to normal. The thing I was impressed with is how seriously they deal with the incident and how quickly a team was sent out each time.
Contacted Western Power regarding…
Contacted Western Power regarding digging up the road at the front of our property, basically said Council have approved it so tough.
Turned up today and they threatened to phone the police and have cars towed away if they were not moved. Rockery ground at the bottom of our property that does not belong to the council has been ripped apart all because of a greedy money grabbing neighbour with no respect for his neighbours.
After having a few issues with…
After having a few issues with seemingly random power cuts I called Western Power. Within an hour an engineer was at my house. A happy, cheerful, knowledgeable chap who seem to know his stuff. After investigating he found the problem, and went about getting another team out to fix it. During the visit we had calls from their office and after the work was completed we had a further call from the office the check that all was well. Excellent customer service !
Great old fashioned customer service
Needed a power supply to a new property. Met with the Western Power Technician in a field to discuss what I needed and I was astonished that this one point of contact dealt with everything for me. No call centres, no foreign accents to deal with, no transferring to another operator who needed to be updated each time I called. Good old fashioned thoughtful and friendly customer service. WP should market their Customer Relations model. Excellent.
After a power failure and a power surge…
After a power failure and a power surge which resulted in damaging two of my household products. After contacting Western Power i received an e-mail staying we are unable to guarantee a continuous supply of electricity.Awaiting a telephone call from a Manager.
Thank you
Since 2014 and the purchasing of a new home i have had many instances where it has been necessary to contact Western Power. All of the occurrences have been as a result of an ageing network or the power of mother nature. Each time i have been overwhelmed by the professionalism of all the teams responding and i have never had cause to doubt their devotion to their role of myself the customer. I have been amazed to read some negative feed back when all of my experiences with Western Power have been so exemplary that i understood common place . We have had teams from Wales and across the midlands all of which have treated us and our concerns with respect and resolved them with a mater of professionalism and urgency. I cannot rate them any more highly. Thank you
