Please beware of EVERYWISH GIFT CARDS…
Please beware of EVERYWISH GIFT CARDS being sold at WHSmith stores they are very difficult if not impossible to redeem I had never heard of them prior to receiving one as a birthday gift well what an experience it has been 10 days later and numerous emails attaching copies of receipts etc I’m still no further forward the only response I have is an email saying “oops problem your voucher has already been redeemed” and reading the customer reviews on Everywish I am certainly not alone one after another day after day people are losing money to this company .. and how frustrating is it that reputable shops like WHSmith are selling them to unsuspecting customers so please beware of these cards
Miserable experience at Manchester…
Miserable experience at Manchester airport T2: unclear pricing so ended up having to pay much more than we thought for meal deal - even on top of usual airport price gouging. We were in hurry for flight so no time to change it. Then the usual DIY tills with staff standing about gossiping and resentful of being interrupted when I needed help with till. Perfunctory assistance then back to the gossiping. I asked for her name and she went into full Gen Z outrage, saying how 'kind and lovely' she'd been, how much I was upsetting her etc and then threatening to call security. I said yes, do call security. She said she was going to complain about me to her manager instead and flounced off. All in all a hideous experience.
Robbed blind at WH Smith, Glasgow Airport
Robbed blind at Glasgow Airport on route to a funeral in Malta. Charged £18 for 2 Lindt Bunnies (for my Grandkids) by W H Smith. Initially thought I was overcharged when I looked at my receipt by £9 as I thought it was 2 Bunnies for £9. Turns out it was 3 Bunnies for £18 but because I had only picked up 2 and the lazy Assistant who served me (who was more interested in what was going on in the back of the shop) neglected to tell me this. When I complained I was told to contact Customer Services. Contacted them and told because I only picked up 2 I was correctly charged. No offer of another Bunny was made. Absolute extortion! Zero Customer Service either Face to Face or through email. DONT GO NEAR THEM! No wonder W H Smith is going down the road to oblivion!
Terrible lazy customer service
Bought an item that has failed well within the warranty time. Unfortunately I don’t have the receipt as was bought at the airport on the way to holiday.
Customer service refuse to try and look for the receipt and want me to jump through hoops to get it.
How would I know the store number the barcode of the item or the exact amount of the purchase from 8 months ago.
Very disappointing from fran and Louise at the customer service department.
Lazy and can’t be bothered
I dropped in to WHSmiths at sawtry…
I dropped in to WHSmiths at sawtry (New services) on my why home today at 13.10 the cashier tried to overcharge the guy in front of me , the cashier male was scruffy
His ID was not on show even though it was hanging round his neck the real shocker was him chewing on a cocktail stick whilst serving the public
I work in this industry and this is a big no no it’s the public that pay their wages I suggest more training needed on appearance as first appearance count

I go into WH Smith at York Station
I go to the WH Smith in York station most days to put my Lottery on as I am working next to the station, I am greeted most days by a lovely smiling lady, she always has time to ask how I'm doing and has a chat in between serving other customers, I have noticed how she always has a great attitude and she never stops, you are very lucky to have this lady working for you WH Smith she puts me and a lot of your customers in a good mood at the start of are working day, so thank you 😊
Glasgow Airport.
Glasgow Airport.
WH Smith. £13.99 for 2 Sandwich meal deals.
2 terrible sandwiches
2 small water
2 packets of crisps.
And at checkout it reads you saved £7
What an absolute disgrace of a company.
Boots meal deals for the very same items are £4.99 each. So £9.98 for both.
Please please please stay clear of these robbers. We will never ever shop at this named store again. EVER. 😱
Excellent customer service
I was in Stirling branch of WH.Smith looking for a specific book. Staff member called Gillian went through all the shelves, checked stockroom and also went downstairs to see if there had been recent delivery where she finally located the book for me. I would recommend this employee to anyone looking for a great customer service in Stirling store.
Handy
They're not always the cheapest but they're one of the last stationary/book stores on the high street. Being able to pick up online orders in store for free is really handy and having the post office instore at my local WHSmith gives me a reason to browse what they have on sale.
Downhill company
You can definitely tell that WHSmith isn't a very nice company to work for. Their benefits package must be so rubbish. The staff there always look stressed, if you can find one. Which makes sense, as there is so much to do, but only 2 staff members about. I went to Brent Cross to get my scratchcards sorted and buy a few things. While the lady was good enough at her job, the line forming behind me did fluster her a bit and her colleague was nowhere. It's a shame, WHSmith used to be great. Not anymore.
Daylight robbery.
99p for a carrier bag at Bristol airport! Daylight robbery. The assistant didn’t tell me the price, I’d have declined had she done so.
Pre orders are a joke
Absolute joke of a company good thing you’re closing soon. Pre ordering a book for it to still not be available to collect days later, and refusing to refund even though it’s entirely your fault! Do not use WHSmith, go to Waterstones or any other store that sells books, the sooner these guys go the better.
€3.70 for a small water bottle 😡
I'm in Tenerife South and it's a second time I'm being shocked with the price of 0.5l water bottle. They want €3.70, that's theft. The same happened to me at the Heathrow bus station, it was over £3 for a small, cheapest bottle.
GREAT SERVICE WITH A SMILE store in Leighton…
I visited Wh Smith store in Leighton Buzzard store4454, I needed to use the DHL express service I did it instore Kerry the assistant was so kind and patient even though she had an almost constant queue of people to serve as her other colleague was on lunchbreak, she was so kind then Brooke came back from lunchbreak and finished off serving me typed out all the details for package and finished the process both very kind, helpful and couldn't do enough to serve me, they are an asset to your store of I could give more stars I would 😊😊😊🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Diaries
Having bought multiple WH Smith own-brand diaries for many years, the 2025 diaries are poor. The sticker labels have left a mark on the cover which is very obvious and continues to be tacky. This is the same for various sized diaries.
I had given a two star rating but after W H Smith's response I have reduced it to one star. Did they offer to replace the faulty goods they sold me? No. Did they offer a partial refund or anything else of benefit to me? No. They want me to spend my time to help them and benefit them. Adding insult to injury.

Visited WHS at the entrance of London…
Visited WHS at the entrance of London Luton airport and was sold a packet of Sterling cigarettes for£25 while price in the shops is about£15.
I think it is too big increase even if it is an airport.
Always overpriced and not a wide range
Always overpriced and not a wide range. I was in the stansted branch and the choices were appaling. I got a crisp and a sandwhich for £5! No drink included
