We were really pleased with the choice of bathrooms at Wickes. The ordering and customer service has been great, in particular Sam Newnham, who managed our order from start to finish. Sam did an excellent job of guiding us through the process, helping with decisions, explaining our options, timelines etc. we have come away feeling informed, in control and excited for our new room.

I thought I had mislaid my debit card. However I was swiftly re-united with it thanks to Jackie who had spotted where I had left it and kept it safe. I cannot thank Jackie enough for 1) saving me the hassle of applying for a new one and 2) and having to listen to my wife telling me how useless I am!

This branch of Wickes is very convenient for where I live so, although I am not a tradesperson, I quite often pop in for everyday diy items like paint, sandpaper etc. I am using it much less now, though, because the level of service has gone down markedly. In addition, their prices are generally higher than somewhere like B&Q or the (now defunct) Homebase stores - and (presumably because they cater largely for tradesmen who buy in larger quantities) many of the items are only available in big sizes which are too big for most domestic users. My main quibble, though, is the attitude of the staff. The people on the tills are generally very nice but the other people working in the store are largely offhand and plainly disinterested in helping customers - ones like me, anyway, i.e. a 70-year-old female. I’m thinking they may be better with the (male) tradespeople who they consider to be their “proper” customers. Recently when I was in, I was perusing a shelf looking for a product I wanted while an employee was filling the adjacent shelf. I spotted what I wanted which was a long way back on a top shelf and asked if he could reach it for me. He could not have looked more fed up and was so unfriendly - bordering on rude, I’d say. Unfortunately, this is not the only experience of this kind. I won’t shoot myself in the foot by avoiding the store if I need something urgently as it is the nearest stockist of these type of materials. Otherwise I’ll get in the car and go somewhere a bit cheaper where the staff are pleasanter and more helpful.

i am a local builder and use wickes in hove daily
jackie is a star and most of the staff are helpful and friendly
but a young man called sam is consistently offhand and insolent. he wanders round drinking from a can and when he recently had a problem with his till he said 'for **** sake '. He does not reflect Wicke's strapline: Here to help.

How to send a business broke?
1. Have an attitude
2. Don't make eye contact
3. Be as unhelpful as possible
4. Don't say please or thank you
5. Make sure when you give the receipt to the customer you turn your back on them as you are giving the receipt
6. Give one word answers and don't explain yourself
7..When asking for payment, just say card or cash in a condescending manner and voice
So if you want your business to go broke employ the person who served me 26/04/25 12.40 04-4980

Awful experience and we are still left in limbo with a crumbling, poorly finished bathroom. Installer was uncaring and rude, took no responsibility and cut corners at every opportunity. We have a bath with no frame so it moves, a toilet glued down with sealant, a wonky sink, slanting windows, cracked grout, pealing sealant.. 6 months later and still very little help and zero follow through from Wickes. Now with the ombudsman as we gave up. Horrendous experience and still ruining our lives each day that passes.

Wickes - Brighton. Went for a booked kitchen planning session - or so I thought. The adviser was clearly not interested right from the start. He did not introduce himself or show any interest, and did not know answers to our questions on build and materials. He then informed us that it wasn't actually a design appointment, but one hour to look at the displays. He had the charisma of someone nursing a hangover or biding his time until he leaves. We definitely won't be buying our kitchen from Wickes.

It appears that staff at this store do not have adequate product knowledge like what a bradawl is or what it is used for??
Really shocking customer service at the Brighton/Hove branch on Davigdor Rd. Service at the till points was extremely poor. On a busy Saturday, this shockingly bad service is inexcusable!! Staff (both male and female) are more interested in chatting and joking with their colleagues and it is also really unacceptable that it is done loudly over their customers. They use their mobile phones; once again in front of customers and don’t apologise for any delays in serving. They don’t ensure customers take all their purchases and then think they haven’t charged them when they return to pick this up at the till point!!
No please, no thank you, no warmth and no conversation or overall politeness like thanking customers and wishing them a good day on leaving!!
Please train your staff to an acceptable level of customer service. It is irresponsible of the company Wickes otherwise!!
Much prefer competitors like B&Q where staff are better equipped with knowledge and are professional in general!! Won’t be visiting this store again or recommend as I have no confidence in its service!!

Outstanding in-store service from staff who were professional, courteous, helpful and efficient. Specifically: Darius, Jim and Karen who are all a credit to the company. I really rate good service - especially since it is so rare. Brilliant! Keep up the good work. This 'can do' attitude makes the world a better place. Long may it flourish.

He is also knowledgeable and eager to help when we need something special and can’t seem to find what we’re looking for.

We needed information 1) about interior doors 2) Guttering for a garden shed
The Staff member, Emma, was very knowledgeable and gave practical advice, and was friendly and patient when dealing with questions from this elderly customer.
