wiltshire council - where everybody matters

first of all, if you want to phone these clowns then you better do it first thing in the morning and you better be first in the queue because otherwise you have absolutely no hope

its the same situation if you go over there, they dont even know if someone can see you and you end up waiting for hours but its ok because they have a cafe which is of course, not subsidised

council tax, my bill keeps changing, i do a few hours of overtime and work and it sky rockets. of course overtime is inconsistent and few and far between, so if i do a few extra hours 1 month then they assume that i will be doing it for the remainder of the year and never bother to send me another accurate bill meaning that i have to work it out myself despite multiple phone calls to them

£150 rebate - this is a messed up one

so, the councils website says that they will be writing to people who arent on direct debit before the end of april, they will do this to advise those people how to claim the rebate

it also states on a different page that they will be writing to people within the first few weeks of may - of course none of these articles are dated so you have no idea which is most recent

so, the best thing to do is call them, right? so i did, i waited on the phone for half an hour

someone answered but said nothing, 10 seconds passed and she simply said "hello?". immediately this sounds amateur to me, what kind of organisation answers the phone like this? why is it so difficult to say "wiltshire council, how can i help?" or something similar

anyway, i explained to her the conflicting information on the website and stated that i didnt know what i should be believing, so i asked her "which of the articles should i believe?", of course she tells me something different again so turns out that i shouldnt believe any of their articles as none of it is true. what she advises me is that over the next few days they will allegedly be writing to people

ok, great, so i ask her "lets assume what you just said is true, that i receive a letter next week advising me how to claim it and i decide to do that immediately, how long can i expect to wait before actually receiving it?"

now, times are hard at the moment not just for me, but i am struggling and 2 days after being paid i have £50 left in my bank for the month, i am relying on this rebate

she tells me that she doesnt know and what she said next i found a little patronising to be honest, she told me that they are working "really really hard". now dont get me wrong, i appreciate hard work but its the way she said it, it just sounded patronising. she didnt even answer my question, she just told me that they are working "really really hard" and that they are doing better then many other councils

well fantastic, i dont care about other councils because i dont live in those areas, maybe the areas she is referring to have a drastically lower cost of living like up north, who knows...........to me its completely irrelevant and i was just being fobbed off

so, to clarify, i said to her they are all working really hard but that i am not actually going to get an accurate answer but just remember they are doing better than a lot of other councils (probably safe to assume they are doing worse than a lot of other councils too, right?)

so there we go, i wasted almost an hour and got absolutely no closer to the truth, she was clearly fobbing me off

they even have a recorded message regarding the rebate - its obvious they dont want to waste their time answering what they deem to be trivial questions regarding the matter so they attempt to deter you from calling in the first place and if you still do, you are wasting your time

it also says on the website you dont need to call them, they are taking care of everything and just wait to hear from them - they do not want you to call them, thats not what they are there for

anyway, i thought id just highlight a few things, id be here all day if i started talking about the other lacklustre services that they attempt to provide but the reality is that these stooges are not out to help you in any way, even with information - you cant even get a straight answer from them and they cant keep their story straight

at the end of the call, i asked who writes this stuff on the website and whether they even bother to check it against other articles on the same subject to see if it tallys or whether they just blindly put anything and hope for the best

the woman at this point advised me she was not going to enter into a conversation about it and proceeded to hang up on me

so there you go, if you want to get in to any kind of conversation with a council employee, dont waste your time

by the way, their slogan is "where everybody matters" - good one

Disgusting service

Disgusting service, services go down but council tax goes up by the highest possible amount. Disgraceful, wasteful obnoxious council that does not care for its customers. Quite simply couldn’t care less.

I received a query on my application. Phoned and once again found a polite , helpful , compassionate individual
That made it easy to cope with my own handicap and she was very reassuring and true to her word my request was granted. Bravo Val
