Highly unprofessional and extremely disappointing.

I booked through Skyscanner for a reservation in Istanbul from August 2–12 and paid the insurance fee in advance. VIPCARS arranged the car via a local company, ALLMEET, which in turn subcontracted another broker to handle the delivery.

When I arrived at the airport, it was extremely difficult to get in touch with the contact person. After nearly two hours of waiting, they told me my credit card was not working and refused to provide the car. This was not true, as I offered multiple valid credit cards, all of which were working. When I attempted to pay with my Turkish credit card, they claimed they could not accept it.

After a short dispute, it became clear that the real issue was the commission distribution between VIPCARS, ALLMEET, and the final broker (XLRENT), and that they were unwilling to release the car because of this.

As a result, my family (my wife, child, and I) were left waiting for over two hours without a car, and ultimately I had to rent from another company directly at the airport. Despite sending follow-up emails regarding this issue, I have received neither an apology nor a refund for the amount I paid in advance.

This experience was highly unprofessional and extremely disappointing.

Fraud

We had booked, confirmed and prepaid a Ford Focus, and when we turned up to get the key, the car was not available. We could either loose the prepayment or upgrade for the same amount already paid to a bigger car.
This was not informed until the very last checkpoints the contract and the employee seemed trained to get extra earnings to the company. I will never use this carrent again.

Pure SCAM

Pure SCAM. They were more than 1 hour late and tried to make us pay more than twice the normal price, saying that my credit card wasn’t working.
We said it wasn’t possible so they brought us back to the airport. I managed to take another location car with the same credit card with out any issues 1 hour after.
These people are thieves.

bad experiance with xlrent

I have rented a car, and they charged me around 34 euro after week, it was unknown charges like cleaning, service, tax..etc, I tried to contact them via watsapp and email, they didn't show any support or help, I belive it's theft, and make sure not to use their service.

Taken hostage

Taken hostage!

Disastrous experience! When I arrived at Istanbul airport... nobody!

I called the ECOVIA RENT A CAR number given in the Carjet email and the rental company told me that I had to send them the booking form by whatsapp and asked me to call them back.

The result: 60 euros deducted by Orange. Finally, after a 30-minute wait, a van picked us up and took us to the rental agency in the middle of nowhere.

No ECOVIA, but a rental company called XLRENT who told me that there was no reservation in my name and that the car I'd booked wasn't available. He doesn't recognise the deposit I've paid either and claims that I'm responsible for Carjet's commission.

In short, he tells me that he doesn't have the Hyundai I booked but that he has a Clio available and that I have to pay an extra 100 euros because he can't validate my deposit.

Question: how did he know I'd booked a Hyundai if he didn't have a booking in my name?

After a fortnight, when I returned the car, he noticed five scratches on the wheel trims and the bumper and told me that if I didn't pay 250 euros per scratch immediately, he wouldn't take me to the airport or I'd miss my plane.

In the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the countryside, no taxi, no bus, four men putting pressure on me and speaking to each other in Turkish, I'm alone with my wife and two little girls... In short, after disputing the stripes, he claimed to ‘give me three stripes as a gift and give me a price’; in the end he forced me to pay 367 euros. In conclusion, I thought I was saving money with a local company (in this case XL RENT, which is in fact behind several brands such as ECOVIA) when in the end I paid double what I would have paid with traditional car hire companies such as Europcar or Hertz.
